Title 23 Days Waiting for My Own Money Back - Appalling Service
Hiscox voided my business insurance policy and confirmed a premium refund of £866.43 on 12th December 2025.
I provided bank account details on 15th December - well before the Christmas break.
It is now 7th January 2026. 23 days later, I still don't have my money.
I have sent multiple emails requesting updates. The underwriter has responded THREE times with essentially the same copy-paste response: "I've asked [department name] for an update."
No payment reference number. No timeline. No transparency. No accountability.
Just vague promises that someone, somewhere, is supposedly looking into it.
This is MY money. Money I paid them in good faith for insurance cover. They voided the policy, so I'm entitled to it back immediately.
Instead, I'm being fobbed off with corporate non-responses while they sit on my funds.
The lack of basic customer service is staggering. If this is how Hiscox treats customers when they OWE you money, I dread to think how they handle actual claims.
Avoid Hiscox. They are happy to take your money but appalling at giving it back.

Insurance for sole trader
I took out insurance with Hiscox after becoming self employed and so far my experience has been very good. I had to make a claim for damage to my equipment and the team were friendly and professional to deal with.
