What a great place

What a great place. Great costomer service. Would fully recommend to anyone who needs their gear fixed or serviced. Took my camera in as I needed a new back panal fixed an had it fully serviced. After 2 weeks I had it back. Now I am taking better photos than before. I have a new toy. Well done for fixing my camera. I now know where to go when I need something done

Great experience

I was having an error message relating to the shutter of my canon camera. General troubleshooting was no use. Was recommended to use this company. They were friendly on the phone and explained what they would need from me (i.e. No need to send with battery etc.) And how to package it properly to prevent water damage in transit. Took a couple of days to confirm the estimate which was just under £300. A fair amount considering the repair would require the entire camera being taken apart and then rebuilt (from researching the issue to see if I could do the repair myself). The online portal was easy to use and I had emails whenever a change had occurred. Overall, took a couple of weeks to send, assess, repair and return. All working fine so far. I would definitely use them again and would recommend.

Canon R5 repair - good but expensive

I approached H Lehmann as my R5 sustained some impact damage after a fall.

I took the camera in for an assessment and I was told it needed a new LCD and cover shell to ensure the camera was still properly weather sealed.

The parts took about a week and a half to arrive, bearing in mind the bank holidays, I don't think this was too bad.

H Lehmann have a portal to view the repair status which is helpful but in my case there were issues getting it to work. The staff were more than happy to take my regular calls in anycase so no issues with communication.

The parts cost about £200 but the labour was £220 so I was a little surprised at that. But I would rather the job be done properly.

The camera arrived back to me with really good, secure packaging.

I would recommend them for Canon repairs and I would use them again. I'm not sure how their price compares to sending the item to Canon to repair so I can't comment on whether what I felt to be abit pricey is just the going rate.

Wanted a repair to a Canon RF lens

Wanted a repair to a Canon RF lens, checked first that they could repair it, yes, send it in. Was amazed to get a quote for £533, company I bought the lens off were paying, so checked with them, yes, go ahead. Sent 3 e-mails, no replies, I found the only way to contact them was via "message" on their FB page, their customer support is abysmal. Couple of weeks went by, no news, so asked for an update. We're waiting for delivery of parts, couple more weeks go by, ask for another update, "we were sent the wrong parts". The company I had bought from had sent me the money weeks ago and were asking what was happening, what's the delay? They told me to get it back and they'd either get it repaired or replaced with new lens. Told Lehmanns if it wasn't fixed soon, I would want it back, then surprisingly they told me it was fixed and was being returned. In total this took about 6 weeks. I just ordered a new camera from Hong Kong, last Tuesday, being delivered tomorrow, so less than a week from the other side of the world, so no idea where the parts for my lens came from and why it took so long. To sum up, a disaster!

The reply from Lehmanns choses to ignore the e-mails that were ignored, and the fact that I had to chase them up each time to find out what was happening. They have a "status" that showed the same for a very long time, no updates. As I said before, my new camera will be delivered today, after ordering from Hong Kong last Tuesday, to get the parts and complete the repair took them around 6 weeks!

Hi,We ordered a front optical element from Canon and when it arrived it was defective (bubble in the optic) We returned it to Canon and they then sent us a replacement which we fitted and returned to you.
We were delayed by this process of the returning and waiting for the part to arrive,
You were answered via our facebook page one of our staff replied outside our working hours

Hi George, I have found your email in spam by the way,
As you are aware I can not give you details of another customers invoice as Gdpr prevents me from doing so ,I can confirm the camera did have a Gold service but I suggest you contact the seller for how much he paid for it.
I think Nikon will advice the same

Deception & Manipulation

There’s a level of deception and possible manipulation here.

Similar to Lisa’s one star review — I now have anxiety and concern about where my equipment is and if it’s even been fixed properly. Has it been mishandled wherever it is?

I believe DPD may have even been the cause for my lens needing the repair in the first place.

I would never use DPD — their many one star reviews show that they are untrustworthy and unreliable.

My ‘rescheduled’ parcel never arrived yesterday. I never received any email or text notification. I had two other deliveries that I received from other couriers — so this tells me that the issue is DPD and H. Lehmann’s.

I sent my equipment to Lehmann’s on October 1st and it’s now November 2nd. So, there’s been some type of failed communication here.

DPD complaint/review:

DPD has consistent one star reviews saying the same things:

History with DPD over the years: consistent no-shows from DPD. No call or slip/notification through the door. If there is one, trying to reschedule a re-delivery is hard work. Delivery personnel often claim to have been to your property but evidently it’s not the truth.

It really must be all these retrograding planets but there’s some type of failed communication between the sender and DPD. Then DPD with the receiver. How could my parcel be sitting at a nearby shop for almost 2 weeks without me knowing?

I would never use DPD. I sent my parcel via Royal Mail with no issues. The receiver said that they received my parcel and did not have to collect my parcel from any nearby collection points. All of this has to do with me having equipment repaired, hence sending and receiving. All of this was expensive as it is. Now, why would I have to collect my parcel from a nearby shop?

How would I collect it if I don’t have any slip, email or text notification to confirm that it’s my parcel to collect?

The receiver (Lehmann’s who I sent my equipment to and who is returning my parcel (equipment), told me that he’s been trying to ring the shop but no answer. Unbelievable.

Update:

I took a twenty minute walk to pick up my parcel due to phone communication issues where my parcel was left.

Lehmann’s have put the wrong address on the parcel despite me giving them my correct contact details.

It seems as if Lehmann’s may be using DPD’s decline of reputation to their advantage (manipulation).

Not happy!

Canon 24-105L IS lens repair

I had a Canon 24-105L IS lens that had stopped 'talking to' the camera, Error Code 01. Having spoken to them I posted it on Tuesday and have received it back on Friday looking like new and working perfectly.
Their service was way, way beyond excellent and I would highly recommend them

UPDATE - WARNING DO NOT SEND YOUR EXPENSIVE CAMERA EQUIPMENT HERE - SUB ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DUE TO SHODDY ATTENTION TO DETAIL RETURNED MINE TO WRONG ADDRESS

Sent Nikon Camera to be repaired by this Company, initially I thought a man called Gerald who dealt with my enquiry, quite helpful. However, not very happy with the Company now, when I spoke with Gerald the early part of last week, he had stated they had, had an influx of customers. This I believe as they kept the camera a week, then informed me on Thursday they could not repair it and were sending it back. They did refund most of my money, but charged us £25 for postage (this seems rather alot, given the camera will be returning in the same state it left). I thought this company would have at least attempted a repair or, they could have ring us and ask us if we wanted them to attempt something.

Very Unhappy Customer, would not recommend

UPDATE:
Lechmann informed me that they would be returning my camera and lens, as stated above untouched, they said that the lens could not be calibrated and they could not clean the spot on the camera. (I will add here on finally receiving the lens my husband, following some online guidance, calibrated the lens himself)

This is the sequence of events:

On following up a couple of days later, I discovered they had returned my equipment to the incorrect address. They had returned my equipment to number 51 and not 61 where I live. I contacted Lechmann's the whole experience was every photographers worse nightmare. It was suggested to me since it was only delivered 10 doors down my street, I should go and retrieve the equipment.

I did not think this even a reasonable service, having paid £25 postage. I thought it very unprofessional that I was even being asked this. However, when I was told otherwise they would need to send DPD there, they would return the equipment to them and then they would resend to me, I thought lets just get my items back.

I live in a large village and these days no one really knows who lives a couple of doors away. Having gone to the house, it was empty and being refurbished, no one was sure who lived there but, apparently there were work men back and forth.

I returned to my house and contacted Lechmanns and this was the start of a 3 (yes 3 week wait).

Eventually, after many phone calls by myself out of the blue the camera was returned to us, by the aunt of the people who now own the property. I was not happy!

I contacted Lechmann's spoke to Mr Edwards who was a very unprofessional, unhelpful individual, considering he presented as being one of the Directors of Lechmann's. He was completely indifferent to the situation. His attitude was, despite the delay of nearly a month I now had my equipment back, despite the fact it had been delivered to the wrong address and the stress it had caused me. He suggested I should be happy with this service and that he would not be refunding my £25 postage as I now had my equipment!

Make of this what you will, shoddy unprofessional customer service, incompetent staff and I felt the Director (Mr Edwards) was nonchalant about the whole the situation.

Wouldn't communicate and camera was still faulty.

I sent my Nikon 500mm 5.6 lens and D850 to be checked and repaired/calibrated . I wasn't happy when they were returned to me, and was totally ignored or blocked when I tried to ask questions. There was still a lack of sharpness and there was a mark on the mirror. I sent my equipment to Fixation instead ,They discovered a problem with the camera - a recalibration was necessary and it needed a sensor clean. They also calibrated the lens to the camera. - again.

My Nikon D7100 developed a sticking…

My Nikon D7100 developed a sticking shutter problem.
I found H. Lehmann via Google and rang them to explain the problem. They were very courteous and sent me a label to print out. I packed the camera and took it to a local drop-off point.
Unfortunately, the camera would not operate the shutter at all when it was returned to me. I reported this to them and the camera went back.
The technician at H.Lehmann was unable to reproduce the fault I had reported and once more the camera was returned to me.
I took 3 or 4 test shots, which were fine. Next day I took several more shots, which were all overexposed
and the camera would only take one shot before needing to be switched off.
Once more I reported this to H Lehmann and the camera went back to 'hospital'.
This time a fault was found in the shutter mechanism and the camera was returned to me in perfect working order.
I cannot praise H. Lehmann enough. Firstly for their patience and courtesy and secondly for bearing the costs they must have incurred during this whole saga.
H. Lehmann is to be commended for its integrity
and honesty. I would recommend them to anyone who has a camera problem.
I, for one, will never go anywhere else.

My Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens…

My Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens developed a problem - a well known repair company said that "parts were no longer available" to fix my old model. After a bit of googling, I stumbled across Lehmann who were clear, confident, timely, and up front with charges. I've got my fabulous lens back - fixed, cleaned and serviced. So I was so pleased I sent a second lens with a filter dent and slight focussing problem. Again, came back good as new, fixed, re-calibrated, absolutely spot on, and cleaner than I've ever seen it. Brilliant company.

A very professional service.

A very professional service.

They repaired my Canon DSLR, it came back like new, thoroughy cleaned and serviced. Prices are reasonable for high-end equipment and turnaround was OK for such a busy company. They even arranged collection and return.

Will be my go-to company from now on for all my repair and servicing.
