I had a mortgage for them for many years. At the end of the mortgage term as I had lost my job they didn't want us to mortgage with them despite us been ready to reduce the mortgage by £40k and gave us 6 months to find an alternative lender.
When we found our alternative lender 4 months later we had to reduce our mortgage by £39k. Once we paid the $39k in the Hinckley and Rugby account we were then asked to provide proof of the founds that we had told them about around 6 months earlier.
Once we transfer the mortgage out to a new lender, issues started to arise.
1) The mortgage transfer was completed on a Thursday. By Friday morning Hinckley & Rugby mortgage account was still open with the mortgage amount. I call them and was told that they will investigate and call me back.
No call back by 4:50PM that Friday and the account is now closed. BUT THIS MORTGAGE HAS AN OFFSET ACCOUNT WHICH WASN'T CLOSED despite been told many time (included few days earlier) it would be closed and the money return to my current account once the mortgage was transferred out. So I called again at 4:50PM but couldn't get through before they closed at 5PM.
2) On Monday after completion and closing my mortgage account. I found out that they still took the direct debit from my current account. I couldn't have know if I could cancel the direct debit as I didn't receive a call back on Friday.
3) For the past hour I try to contact them to learn what is going on but the call time out and go to voice mail. I am £1000s in my offset account plus the direct debit that I should get back but can't access my money.
