HOPE THEY SHOW MORE CONSIDERATION WITH THEIR TENANCIES THAN THEY DO WHEN EMPLOYING STAFF.

In December 2023 Hull Churches Housing Association (HCHA) advertised, on their website, for the post of Property Services Manager with a salary of £40K. My qualifications and experience more than satisfied the requirements for this post (I have a Masters degree in surveying and over twenty five years experience dealing with a broad range of public and private sector property rental requirement - ranging from maintenance control and facilities management to allocating tenancies). In fact you could not find a more fitting role for my skills.

I immediately applied direct to HCHA via their supplied email address providing all that was asked for in the job advertisement (a CV along with a covering letter telling them how I would shape their property management service). I then heard nothing, so on the 05 February 2024 I emailed Hull Churches chasing up my application. Still no response was forthcoming so on the 10 September 2024 I phoned Hull Churches direct and spoke to their Complaints and Business Support Officer, a pleasant lady called Julie who said she would chase it up for me.

The following day after speaking with Julie I got an email from her advising me that the manager who was responsible for employing for this role, a chap called Lee, was aware of my application and he had duly informed me through Indeed (the jobs website) that my application had been unsuccessful. I found this to be rather strange as I did not apply for the job through Indeed and emailed Julie back informing her of this and if possible could she provide me with details of who to contact in the organisation to pursue why my application had not been given due consideration. Needless to say I have not heard anything since.

It does seem rather strange that I was not invited to interview - if I was not the right person for the post it would have been straightforward to then inform me of this. A cynic would say that Lee did not want my application to be considered by the three person interview panel. But surely Lee would want what was best for Hull Churches and shortlist the most qualified and suitable applicants.

As I say I hope they give more consideration and better service to their tenants with their tenancies than I was shown in my application to work with Hull Churches Housing Association.

PS if anybody knows how to pursue this with Hull Churches do let me know. I have tried through the Complaints and Business Support Officer but as I described above I have now been ghosted.
