I purchased an absolutley beautiful…

I purchased an absolutley beautiful Jaguar XFS 4 months ago from Hyams. The car although older on a 62 plate is a dream to drive. Hyams is an old fashioned ( in a good way) car dealership, I have every confidence that if and when i get a snag ( its a Jag) Hyams will be there to fix it. Just waiting for my son to pass his test before going back to Hyams for his first car. A great local garage that does a lot for the community too.

husband bought me a car

husband bought me a car from this dealer had engine problems said he would help with cost then offerd less not a man of his word after reading his reply can he tell me what trader expect you to put water pump and cam belt back you should re place them with new thats what he would not pay half for bad practise still not paid 4 week on dont trust this trader

Excellent Fiat 500L service!!

My Fiat 500L had a breakdown on 30/03/25. I had my vehicle recovered (courtesy of RAC) to my usual garage in Cirencester, from whom I had purchased two new cars and the Fiat in the 22 years that I have been dealing with them. I had to recover my car to Hyams, after being told by "my" garage that they do not service Fiats. Although Malmesbury has been my domicile for the past 18 years, I was unaware of the sterling services being offered by Hyams. My heartfelt and grateful appreciation to the superb team who had my car up and running within a day-and-a-half! I must congratulate the Staff on my receptive welcome and their willingness to be of service! Thank you

Just be warned

I brought a truck from the company and meet the owner he comes across as rude and angry that you want to buy one of his cars .I took my part ex in and was told before he even looked at im not paying the amount I said because it's dirty when I said I had washed it the day before and it's the rain on the roads I was told it's not raining today like I was a lier I did the deal as I was still happy with the truck Paul handed me a form with 5 star Google review and asked me to fill it out and sign it within 5 minutes and when I said I will do it when I get home he got stroppy I called within 10 mins to ask where the keys to the back and he told me you have all the keys so I could not lot the top he has had to take the truck back
because it had a fault that was due to an accident that happened before he brought the truck im sure he didnt know and they said the it's to expensive to fix he never sent off the V5 form on the one I brought or the one I part ex which ment if I was caught speeding or had a parking fine the previous owners would be blamed the owner told another customer when I was there that they would have to bring the car back if any problems in the first 6 mths then they could take it where they wanted he gave me the other customers car as a loan car again if I was caught speeding or had a parking fine it would go back to them he did give me a full refund and as I had to cancel my insurance and tax it and fill it with fuel he gave me a refund of this which i respects the rest of the garage are great really helpful and easy to deal with i have told the owner to his face over the phone and sent him a long email but I shouldn't think he cares as he's acts like he's never wrong and your only a customer

Customer service is lacking

Called up about a car yesterday and was met with an extremely rude male who couldn't be less interested if he tried! I asked about the condition of the bodywork and was met with 'all the photos are on the internet look at those'! Like you can really tell the condition in a few photos!
Word of advice to Hyams, maybe you should invest in some customer services courses as you failed miserably in that department yesterday!

Naomi - sorry that you didn't feel that you had a positive experience with us, that is not our intention. What the Salesman was trying to explain when you called is that we have such extensive photographs (often over 60) and indeed videos on our website that you really can get a good idea what the car is like, before viewing in person. Customers usually find this very helpful as they can get a good look at the vehicle with close up images, to help them determine whether they want to travel to our showroom.

Wilts & Glos Standard reports that Paul Hyams of Hyams Autos has been convicted of Fraud.

A fraudster running a garage, ripping people off. Enough said.

Your one sentence review does not reflect the whole story or our business. We are a local garage that has been in business for over 45 years and is proud to have lots of loyal and happy customers, we have many positive reviews as a testament to that, in particular customers from AutoTrader who have actually purchased a car from us, so have genuine and relevant experiences with us.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Like so many others, awful experience with this garage. My mum purchased a car here in Feb 2021 and it had to go back 3 times in the first 2 weeks for separate faults. All fixed under warranty (as they should be).

My mum died in June 2021. Inherited car, took it to a proper mechanic. So many more faults found. Contacted Hyams as Consumer Rights say they have to fix it within 6 months of purchase.

Long story short, rude and obnoxious Paul Hyam strikes again. Denied I had consumer rights, said the car would pass MOT (faults were not about roadworthiness, more serious mechanical faults). No compassion for circumstance. Tried every loophole to get out of the repairs. It’s cost me around £1000 to fix the car and not a penny of that went to Hyams. Would have taken it to an independent arbitrator (and likely won) if I wasn’t suffering such an awful bereavement.

Long story short, DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE. They sell with bare minimum done (ie just an MOT) and do nothing more. Customer service is atrocious. You’ll see on other sites/other reviews that Paul will always blame the customer or shirk responsibility for sub standard cars and service. Awful, greedy little man.

Fantastic service and car

We called this garage on a Sunday at short notice and arranged to view a car the same day. When we arrived, the car was ready for us to view and test drive. It had clearly been valeted and was in stunning condition for a 5 year old car. Included in the price was a service and mot. We had earlier looked at another car of the same make and model at Carshop and had left disgusted by the rubbish on offer and the appalling service. At Hyams we were welcomed by a gentleman who has a wealth of experience and clearly a passion for cars, omitted all the bull and talked my son through the process of buying a first expensive car properly without any sales pitch. I would drive the considerable distance to his garage to buy a car without hesitation. Many thanks.

Specialist dealer

Please think carefully before using this garage for anything other than simple everyday cars. They have no specialist knowledge as I found when visiting and calling and emailing the garage. Curt and ambiguous information offered also.

Great service from Marcus at Hyams

Great service from Marcus at Hyams. The problem with our Mitsubishi was diagnosed and fixed in no time at all, with a minimum of fuss. Would highly recommend.

We travelled to replace our second car

We travelled to replace our second car, which was no longer required, with a light goods van that we saw on line. When we arrived the van was ready, and we were encouraged to take it for a test drive, while Hyams staff did the same for the car I was looking to P/E.
On return we discussed price - no dramas - believe we both ended with a satisfactory deal.
Van then given a full onceover by the team before we were allowed to drive away. We now own a very well turned out van - just what was wanted - whole process took a covid compliant 2.5 hrs - excellent service.

Purchase of a second hand car today

Wanted to leave this review. Had a very good experience today with Hyams Autos. We had travelled a long way as my son was looking for his first car, and wanted a particular model and colour. We were even able to drive it away today, which made things a lot easier. Very pleased with our purchase and the price that we paid for it. This was all carried out in a Covid secure environment, and we felt safe and our custom valued at all times. Thank you.

Very rude and aggressive salesman

Phoned up to book a viewing, salesman busy so would ring back, didn't. Phoned again and was put through to a very rude and aggressive bloke who said i couldn't see the car because it was off site, I had said my wife would like to see the car to check the colour and condition but he said the pictures were good, had nothing to hide and it was bright red. So his assumption was I would buy the car without viewing it... really??. He could have explained this in a pleasant manner and I would have been happy but no, treat customers like dirt is his motto. Their loss as I found a better car and bought it on the same day from one of their competitors and was treated with respect even tho the same Covid restrictions were in place. If you want to be treated like dirt then feel free to speak to them, especially the owner of the business - update - they've just been done for fraud "guilty of two counts of fraud by false representation" - nuff said - perhaps an apology would be better than an assertion that you did no wrong, you were caught fair and square whatever you might say

Dear Martin. Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. We are sorry to see you have left the same review over multiple sites for Hyams Autos. As per our email reply to you on 24/07/20 it is not possible to view multiple cars in the same visit at the moment due to the Covid viewing rules we have to adhere to. Our procedures are all listed on AutoTrader under our profile. We sanitize the cars and then they are brought over to the main garage for viewing, rather then the customer being allowed to go over to our storage compound like we used to do. We have over 100 cars in stock and each car has between 20-90 pictures, along with full specification of the car and its features and many cars have videos as well, so there is a lot of information on our website for customers to see. We have been in Malmesbury for 45+ years and we sell 60 cars a month and we have a very busy workshop with our own technicians so we disagree that our staff “treat customers like dirt” if you look on AutoTrader and other sites we have many customer reviews from customers we have helped for many years. Not great service although reliable cars so far!

I have bought about 5 cars in the past from Hyams due to the reliability of the vehicles purchased. I bought another car last week and paid on Tuesday to pick up today Saturday. When I went to
Pick up today Paul had just gone out on a test drive so my husband had to wait at least 30 minutes for his return. This was very inconvenient and
We had already paid for the car in full. This is poor service and will make me think twice before returning to buy another car .

Utterly rude and disgraceful

Utterly rude and disgraceful! Both my mother and partner came in to look at a car, and found themselves being spoken to like dirt by the owner.

Selling a car with an oil leak, and moans when customers notice it, even said the car had been drive around for hours the day before. Imagine the damage that would do to a car!

Simply asked if it was guaranteed if there was an issue or he would come down on the price, then got rude. Please don't purchase your car from here.
