My son matters
My son matters. Every child matters. And they prove it not.
I trusted Hide & Seek Shaw Street with my baby from under 1 year old, and it was a heartbreaking mistake. Mold in the facility (even found in his nose), low hygiene (other children’s clothes used), unsafe food, and untrained staff left him unhappy, irritated, and unsafe. Now in a different creche, he comes home tired and happy — as every child should… don’t let your child go through what mine did. Children matter more than profits.
From under 1 year old 2023 until March 2024, my child was at Hide & Seek Shaw Street. In my personal experience:
• Tiny commercial/mixed-use facility space, hidden from view. Mold was present, and under a microscope, mold traces were found in my baby’s running nose. Clothes were dried indoors on racks, filling the rooms with a strong humid, moldy smell.
• My baby often came home in other children’s underwear, socks and nappies, despite us providing his own with his name.
• Food was cheap, salty, and sweets given even though we asked otherwise.
• The teachers were often anxious, some undertrained, and communication with them was not allowed, even though they were the ones directly caring for my child — our “eyes and ears” during the day. This made it impossible to get a clear understanding of what was happening with my baby.
• Many incidents were only reported at the end of the day.
• There is a clear difference between untrained staff and trained staff. Unfortunately, management is not professionally trained and shows no intention of improving — only taking money without reliability, transparency, professionalism, or care.
Since moving to a new creche, my son comes home tired and happy instead of irritated and distressed.
Parents, visit and ask questions before choosing childcare. Our children have no voice to speak for themselves — but we do. Safe decisions!
