Haven't got one yet but

Its difficult to get a good idea of a product from a review when some people write reviews that have little basis for complaint. If you by a mattress for a camper van, don't expect the camper van bed to have standard bed dimensions. The underside of a topper needs to be a different material, ie course, as it's the friction layer that helps prevent the movement.
I'm not going to buy one of these products as the reviews here are unreliable but needless to say I sympathies with Hypnia as they clearly have to deal with some pretty stupid complaints.

Hypnia France: liars, untrustworthy and dishonest

Hypnia France is a company that should not be made business with. If you are a potential customer, don’t think you can rely on their policies which they state on their website or which are provided to you by their phone or email support.

I ordered one memory foam mattress and one winter duvet from Hypnia France. However, two memory foam mattresses and one summer duvet were delivered to me. Because the delivery service refused to return the falsely delivered mattress straight away, I was left with the following: making Hypnia aware of their mistake, store the mattress, organise the pick-up with the delivery service, and carry the mattress from the fifth floor to the ground floor because the delivery service refused to do so. Additionally, I had to take half a day of vacation because the delivery service insisted on not being able to come at a time that was convenient for their customer. So, essentially, I did Hypnia’s job, had to suck up all the inconvenience and saved Hypnia from losing a highly priced good. As I further learned Hypnia’s values are not based on honesty and good customer care.

I contacted Hypnia in order to return the summer duvet as I had expected a winter duvet. In an email I was advised that I had to pack carefully the duvet, send it back to Hypnia through the local post office and that Hypnia covers the shipping costs. I followed Hypnia’s written instructions to the dot. However, upon receiving the summer duvet, Hypnia informed me that there was a “misunderstanding”: they will not pay for the shipping costs. They even re-sent the email with the instructions but which had been edited (!) so that it looks like that I “misunderstood”. As I have the original email and because the editing has been done in such a poor fashion, it’s obvious that Hypnia is lying right-out and acting not only unethically but plainly illegally. Hypnia neither reimbursed me for the shipping costs nor did a manager contact me as I had requested.

The mattress that has been recommended to me by Hypnia’s phone support does not suit my needs. This shows again the incompetence of Hypnia. Every day after 5-6 hours of sleep I wake up with strong backache. I’m a perfectly healthy person without any previous history of back problems and the mattress has been given now six weeks to adopt my body shape and weight. According to Hypnia’s FAQs, it was my right to request a free pick-up and reimbursement. But as Hypnia has been lying about shipping costs, customer satisfaction and reimbursement before I’ll save myself from any further lies, disrespectful treatment and inconvenience and get rid of that horrible mattress straight away.

Best Mattress I Have EVER Bought!

We have had our King Size Organic Latex Pocket Sprung mattress from Hypnia for going on nearly 2 years now and it is still as comfortable as it was from day one!

The sales team were extremely helpful in suggesting which mattress I should buy and unlike many other companies did not push me to the most expensive mattress they had at the time.

Considering that our previous mattress was a dual firmness mattress from Sturtons & Tappers which cost well over £1000 which lasted for less than two years, this mattress by comparison is an absolute bargain and far superior quality.

As we have now recently moved property, I have now purchased a Double for our spare bedroom that should be delivered tomorrow as I feel that it is only fair that our friends and family have the same great night's sleep as we do!

Fab mattresses & a fab & friendly company!

Con of a company

I bought a memory foam topper which I needed to cut 10cm off the side to fit inside my camper van. After doing so I looked at the weight on the delivery box and realised the mattress quality and density of the mattress was significantly lower than what it should be.

Hypnia will not give me a refund because I have cut the mattress up, which I understand is fair enough. However I do believe they are lying about the quality of their mattresses. I have now read a number of negative reviews and this is not the first instance of them making a mistake like this.

PLEASE AVOID - A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE HEADED FOR SMALL CLAIMS COURT

I ordered the 7 zone memory foam topped mattress. As soon as I unpacked it I noticed two small and what looked like rust marks on the sides of it. I rang to report it just in case but as the marks seemed cosmetic was happy enough to give it a try without returning it immediately.

My husband and I are both 'lightweights', he weighs 11 stone and I weigh 7.5 stone. It soon became apparent that the springs could clearly be felt through the 'memory foam' pillow top making for quite an uncomfortable experience. So much so that half way through the night my husband resorted to putting our old "REAL" silentnight memory foam topper from our old mattress on top of it to make it bearable enough to sleep on.

I emailed Hypnia to explain exactly what our issue was. They replied that they would 'offer' us a like for like replacement or another mattress of our choice. No refund was offered at all despite my solicitor now informing me that this was my statutory right. In hindsight I should have demanded a refund at that point and been done with Hynpnia completely. However, I chose to give the 12" solid 'memory foam' a chance. It arrived (with one end of the box damaged) the following day.

What followed that night was an experience that rivalled what I'd imagine sleeping on a brick would feel like. We gave it two nights before giving up completely and sending this second instrument of sleeplessness to join it's counterpart in the spare bedroom.

As the last reviewer pointed out, having tried two types now I have grave doubts that the foam used in the construction of these mattresses is in fact the density of foam advertised.

So, to sum up, I have now sent Hypnia 6 emails all requesting that they collect their mattresses and issue a refund for the £264.99 we paid for the original...and all 6 emails have gone completely ignored.

The nightmare continues.....looks like I'll only get my refund via the small claims process!

Order at your peril folks.

Think twice!

Having read good things about Hypnia on Trustpilot and elsewhere, the reality came as a shock. The bottom line is they supply substandard products which just don't match the descriptions on their website.

It is common knowledge that low density foam is significantly cheaper to produce and less durable than higher density foam. The density of Tempur foam is around 85kg/m3. The Hypnia website states that their products use 75kg/m3 foam, and goes on to say "these are not the cheaper 45kg/m3 entry toppers". However, the first mattress topper I received from Hypnia was unmistakably constructed from 45kg/m3 foam. It is very easy to check foam density according to dimensions and weight, although I would imagine very few people do this, leaving opportunities for unscrupulous companies to boost their profits.

In any case, Hypnia arranged collection of the first topper and delivery of a replacement. This weighed significantly more, although that was as far as the merits went. Whilst it was expanding and regaining its shape, a crease became noticeable near one corner. Removing the cover revealed that the foam had been torn and glued back together. The cover had been fitted before the glue had fully cured and had stuck slightly in one place. I contacted Hypnia who apologised for the glue having caught, but not for sending out damaged foam, insisting that no price adjustment was necessary.

Despite being extremely disappointed in first having been cheated with cheap foam, then having received damaged goods and particularly with Hypnia's response to the latter, I was still willing to use the topper. However, in so doing I found the foam did not respond as I expected with the 'memory' effect almost non-existent. On further investigation, it turned out the topper was made from a hybrid foam called 'cool blue'. It was therefore not a true memory foam topper at all. After raising this issue, Hypnia gave me no further response.

In conclusion, if Hypnia were the last mattress company in the world, I would recommend you start looking for some straw or something to sleep on. In the interest of completeness, I'll continue to review some of the product features.

Foam:

The out-gassing was particularly bad with the smell still noticeable at 6 weeks after receiving it. I also concluded the 'cool blue' hybrid foam was more marketing hype than anything clever. You might like it if you have never had memory foam before, or maybe if you found you couldn't get on with memory foam. The main selling points are it is supposed to be cooler to sleep on and more responsive. However, if you you like memory foam or you are already used to sleeping on a memory foam mattress, then you are going to be disappointed. This foam does not comply to you the way that real memory foam does. Furthermore, I did not find it particularly cool - whilst you may find it a little cooler than real memory foam, you will still sleep much warmer than on a pocket sprung mattress.

Cover:

To cut costs, the cover supplied with the topper uses a soft fabric on the top and sides only, being held together on the bottom by a coarser synthetic material. There are no elastic loops or means of retaining it, and as such, I found it tends to move about on the mattress a little. It doesn't get far but I would prefer not to have to nudge it back into position every few days.

10 year Guarantee, not worth the price of the paper it's not printed on.

Hypnia mattress,Starts off fine, then deteriorates rapidly into a soggy mess, mine was a king size, I sleep on my own, the memory foam formed depressions and hollows where you sleep , if you turn over , you gently roll back into the hollow.
The top was coming away from the base, in great gaps.
Tried to claim from them under guarantee, their so called customer service had me jumping through hoops to supply them with photos,(I am 74 and disabled, bit of a job to turn it over , as you can imagine, )
Then surprise surprise, they turned my claim down, on the grounds they could see nothing wrong with the mattress, this, despite at LEAST 2 PHOTOS SHOWING EDGE OF THE MATTRESS IN WAVY LINES.I didnt know you had to be clairvoyant to sell mattresses, I even offered to send them a surveyors report, which they turned down, I think they were frightened of the result, anyway, it's heading for the dump, no more memory foam mattresses for me, back to traditional ones.
A very poor mattress, compounded by a very poor company.

Memory Foam Pillow

I recently received my new memory foam pillow from Hypnia after being impressed with the quality of my mattress from them that I have had for just over 18 months. When I received the pillow I was impressed with the size as I know some pillows can be quite small. This however fills a standard pillow case so there's no annoying bagginess to contend with.

The memory foam itself is a good medium to firm feel, just as advertised and after using this for nearly a week now, I find that I'm getting an even better night's sleep than before.

I did find that when I first opened the packaging, the pillow did have that musty new memory foam smell which I know is normal. After letting it air for about 2 days before I first used it, the smell had virtually gone.

5* customer service

Purchased the mattress 3 years ago via the eBay shop and have had 3 years of excellent sleep. The mattress developed a fault on one side whilst my wife was pregnant and we didn't realise until I slept on the side. Had to mess about finding the contact details but once found they replied almost straight away with what I needed to do in regards to taking photographs of the mattress, and now in under a week even with the easter weekend my new mattress will be with me by Wednesday.
Kayleigh on the customer service side has been great and couldnt do more to help. Il be using this company from now. Thanks very much

Don't let the price put you off! The budget model is SUPERB !

Just bought a budget super king size mattress. I cant praise this firm highly enough, the product arrived next day
(included in price!) quality thick cardboard box. Mattress expanded from its rolled compressed state in a very quick & even way.after spending the rest of the day airing to let the normal memory foam smell dissipate, it was usable same evening.
After having quite expensive miracoil items previously i thought i was "chancing it"a bit buying this.
I was wrong this is easily as good as any ive owned before. Very supportive & comfortable.
As i,m 6 foot & 17 stone i need a firm bed and i think the description of medium firm is pretty accurate.
Suits us great.
My advice? Because the budget range is implausably cheap, it certainly doesnt look or perform like that.
Get one before the price goes up ;-)
