Bought Hypnos pillow top mattress approximately 18 months ago (£1000 approximately). In my opinion there has been a significant failure of the mattress with a very noticeable dip in one area. Hypnos sent out a “technician” to review…they found the same dip but said it was due to natural material movement within the mattress and this was not covered by the guarantee. Disappointing and a feel cheated. Never buying again..marketing is a great after sales terrible.

I bought a £1,000 Hypnos Orthofirm Supreme mattress less than two years ago, and it has already developed a 4–5 cm dip in the centre — right where the hips rest. This has caused ongoing lower-back pain and makes the mattress uncomfortable and unsupportive. For a brand that promises craftsmanship and longevity, this is extremely disappointing.

The inspection report Hypnos arranged was contradictory: the technician stated the base adequately supports the mattress, yet Hypnos then used the slat gaps on the base as a reason to refuse responsibility. At the same time, they claimed the sagging is “expected,” which raises the question of why such an expensive mattress has no reinforcement in the area of highest pressure.

None of the so-called “requirements” (like 7.5 cm maximum slat gaps or accepting up to 5 cm of sinking) were disclosed at the point of sale. These details are buried in their website FAQs or only appear in the care booklet you receive after delivery — far too late to inform a buying decision. My bed frame was from Dreams, a reputable bed manufacturer, so I had no reason to suspect it would be “unsuitable.”

Customer service has been appalling. When I challenged the contradictions in their report, they simply stopped replying. No accountability, no willingness to resolve the issue, and no acknowledgment that a premium mattress should not fail within 18 months.

In my experience, Hypnos offers poor durability, poor communication, and poor aftercare. I would strongly discourage anyone from spending this kind of money on a mattress that deteriorates so quickly and a company that dismisses customers so easily.

We went for a Hypnos bed after recommendations and reading the reviews. After trying several beds we could see why Hypnos beds are highly rated.
The bed is so comfortable as well as feeling supported. Would definitely recommend Hypnos beds!

Marvellous mattress. Backache disappeared immediately.

I wake up to find the duvet as it was when I went to sleep, I just sleep and seem not to have moved during the night

So after almost 50 years of restful sleeps it came the time to splash out on a new ' last our lifetime' mattress.
We fell for the advertising schpeel of 'sleep like a king' and bought a very expensive Hypnos Superking Emperor Pillowtop Mattress.
It looked great in our Furniture Village store and we can't fault the quality of the exterior finish.
But unfortunately that's about as good as it gets with this mattress.
After a very short time we noticed body size indentations which never recovered, and an ever increasing 'hump / hill' that runs right down the middle.
It's like sleeping with a traffic speedhump along side you.
Most mornings we would wake up with an aching back and numb arms and shoulders.
We complained to FV and Hypnos under the 10year 'guarantee' and FV arranged for an inspector to come and report on it.
Using an industry std string line, he draped it over the bed to measure the 'hollow' and putting his hands on the bed he conducted a very subjective 'pressure' test....the results....you've guessed it ....nothing to see here as its just 'natural settlement'.

Measuring the actual depth of the 'hollow' shows a much larger depth...over 55mm in our case.
Still Hypnos insist this is within the realms of 'natural settlement.
If there was a way to add pics to this review you would see that the perfect flat bed images on their website and the reality in the bedroom after a year or so use...are as different as chalk and cheese.
The only way you would sleep like royalty on this mattress would be if you were the Grand Old Duke of York and you'd tired yourself out by marching up to the top of our 'hill' and back a few times.
Of 3162 reviews ...a shocking 22% give only 1 star and the majority of those are for exactly the same reason as we are experiencing. A further 8% give only 2 or 3 stars.
If I were the Hypnos brand manager I'd be ashamed to be associated with a product that results in so many negative comments.
Our nightly woes have taken a turn for the better tho as we've gone to the expense of adding a Simba Sleep Mattress topper which has been a godsend.
Shame on you Hypnos that it has taken a 3rd party mattress topper to finally allow us to 'sleep like royalty !

Bought a Hypnos Bespoke Brilliance Mattress from Furniture Village and after 2 weeks of airing out it still smells of a farmyard. It feels comfy when you lay on it for 1 min, but the smell is so strong and it makes any clothes which have contacted the mattress smell awful too. Really disappointed and not sure what we are supposed to do, as we have already been airing it out with the windows open. It's less strong than when it was a couple of days old, but the smell is still unexpectedly strong, and it makes the whole room smell bad.

I bought a Hypnos king size bed from Webbs Furniture in Crickhowell Wales. My partner and I went to their showroom and tested a king size Hypnos firm and an extra firm mattress. We ordered an extra firm with a Hypnos storage bed base while we were there.

It’s never been as comfortable as I expected. Now exactly 3 years since buying it we have complained because it’s so uncomfortable neither I or my partner when she stays over can get a good nights sleep because it gives both of us back pain.

I’m disabled so it’s difficult to turn the mattress but I struggle to do it every month. I found a dip in the bed base and on examination it looks like a food or knee has gone through it. Hypnos sent a company to do a report on the bed. On the strength of this flawed report Hypnos and Webbs have refused to replace the bed. I’m disgusted with both. It turns out Webbs supplied a medium firmness king size mattress not what we ordered but we trusted them to supply what we ordered. I have now had to say we will have to go to court to get what we ordered. The bed base is very poor quality made of very thin plywood that just sags as it’s not up to supporting the weight of the mattress and two normal size adults. Having spent two thousand five hundred pounds I expected much much better from both Hypnos and Webbs. Both family owned firms. With previously good reputations.

Bought a Hypnos Wool Origins 6 Firm King Size Mattress from Bestpricebeds in February 2024. The mattress cost £1499 and since I have suffered with back ache in the past I ordered the firm option. After my first sleep I realised this mattress is not what I would class as firm at all, my wife however prefers a softer sleep and was comfortable. I persevered for a few months until I got back ache and could stand it no longer. As a result I bought a RockHard firm mattress, moved to a different bed and my back pain has noticeably subsided.
In my opinion the Hypnos Wool Origins 6 Firm is not firm at all and allows too much sag, potentially causing excessive spinal bend, which in my case caused back pain. In addition, I noticed quite a strong smell I can only liken to cow dung coming from the Hypnos when it was delivered. I thought this would dissipate over time but it still emits a strong smell after nearly 2 years of use.
I would advise anyone considering purchasing this mattress type to try it out before buying as it definitely caused my back pain. I regret not complaining about the firmness rating and stench it emits sooner after purchase, especially as I recently read other customers have had similar experiences.

The Hypnos mattress we recently bought is so comfortable, comfortable, comfortable - no more to be said.

This our second Hypnos superking bed, the first is now relegated to the guest room much to the delight of our friends and family who come to stay.
The bed has been outstanding from day one. We left it to air for a fortnight before using it but there was “new bed breaking in” required. Supreme comfort from day one. It has a topper on it and the mattress only needs 180’ turning top to bottom. Fabulous!
