Indiegogo doesn't care about backers or…
Indiegogo doesn't care about backers or its terms of service. I participated in a campaign that is now 2.5 years late on delivery of their product. To make matters worse the campaign owner refuses to comply with the very straightforward terms of service which state that they must provide substantive updates every month and answer backer questions promptly and truthfully. I reached out to Indiegogo's Trust and Safety team explaining that many backers had already taken all possible steps at resolution through dialogue, and that the campaign owner was just ignoring us, only to be met with multiple messages spanning weeks suggesting I just reach out to them via email and try to resolve the situation myself. Each time I reiterated that I had taken all possible actions. I eventually received a message saying they would reach out and remind the campaign owner of their obligations. I followed up with Indiegogo to let them know the campaign is still ignoring backers and not posting updates and have received no response 4 weeks later.
Support has been non existent. Really disappointed.

Two days ago I posted this review.
Today I get an email indicating that my contributions have been refunded and they direct me to "Please see our Community Guidelines for actions we may take on campaigns under investigation, up to and including restricting the campaign owner's future activities on Indiegogo. "
It is disappointing that my support ticket went unaddressed, seemingly, until I made this Trustpilot review. There is no indication that they are taking any action to get the campaign in question to communicate with its backers. Believe me, I've read the community guidelines document. I had previously stated explicitly that I wasn't asking for a refund, I was asking Indiegogo to support the backers by upholding the terms of service. My continued participation in that particular campaign, however ill advised, was something I expected would be my own choice. This doesn't feel like Indiegogo supporting the backers, it feels like someone trying to "fix" problems as fast as possible.

Campaigner sends out fake tracking numbers
They allow these campaigners to come and advertise products and then the campaigner never delivers. Over 1 1/2 years I am waiting on product and the campaigner just hands us fake tracking numbers of things that never arrive from China absolutely disgusting!

I can’t believe this company is still there.
So many scammers luring people with fancy advertising, take money and few updates for few months or years and disappear. Indiegogo doesn’t do anything about it. Just part of scam.
Stay away from this company.
I backed an electric scooter back in 2016 and my money is gone.

I ran a campaign to support my indie…
I ran a campaign to support my indie film, and we did not raise a lot- but I was still going to use what little we had to put towards the film and send out the rewards to our backers. Unfortunately it has been awful trying to get the funds dispersed to our business account. I have emailed back and forth to no avail. It's been 'validation' issues on my bank account. I literally had it all validated before I was able to run the campaign to make sure everything was legit. So I sent all of the info again and now I am being ghosted. All the money that people chose to put towards my film is sitting in Indiegogo limbo and I have nothing I can do at this point. I feel kind of scammed... might not try crowdfunding next time.

I would never crowdfund an Indiegogo campaign again. Supporting an Indiegogo campaign is a gamble, there is a real possibility that you will never receive the goods - there is no money back guarantee, once the money is paid, Indiegogo takes no responsibility when the campaign fails to deliver. If you are considering crowd funding vie Indiegogo have a look at the AIRPIX and Microdrone campaigns - hundreds of dissatisfied customers.

I’m through with both Indiegogo and Kickstarter because of the same scams. Most recent order was a scam. I paid good money for nothing. With no redress. I have gotten stuff from them in the past, but will never order from them again. It’s been an expensive lesson.
Reply to their reply (8/2/25): They had a product on their site. I paid for it. It was vaporware: it never existed. Indiegogo either lied or did not look at the product or did not take precautions (escrow?) to make sure I would get the product or refund. My opinion is unchanged: I think they are cheats and will never deal with them again.

I have backed a product that never shipped and never got distributed or produced, and they said since the payment is "locked", they cannot do anything. Basically, they protect thieves. DO NOT use their services at all. I also asked to go for legal action, plus sent numerous emails....never got a reply. They probably blocked me. Stay away.

A platform that enables scams without consequences
I backed two projects on Indiegogo — both turned out to be complete failures. I never received the promised products, and there was absolutely no meaningful response from the platform. Indiegogo allows scammers to raise money without providing any protection or oversight. Even after filing complaints and reports, they did nothing. The platform appears completely irresponsible when it comes to protecting its users. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Proceed at your own risk. There are no guarantees you'll get what you spent your money on. Customer service won't try to help you and will always respond in the most generic ways (makes you wonder if they copy-paste this exact response to other members). Getting scammed is (unfortunately) something that can happen and the site has no protective measures in place nor any guarantees of any kind no matter how small or big the contribution you made was. So if that happens, you're on your own. I'd recommend everyone to avoid this site.

No protection from Indiegogo despite campaign owner broke terms
I backed a campaing and despite the fact that the owner of the campaign broke Indiegogo's terms (listed in ther website that I will write here as well: "Make good faith efforts to fulfill the Perks associated with Your Campaign in the timeframe that You communicate to Contributors, and prioritize fulfillment of those Perks.
Be responsive. Respond promptly and truthfully to all questions posed in comments, messages, or updates including any questions or requests Indiegogo makes to verify ability to fulfill. If unresponsive or if a dispute arises between You and your Backers, We may provide your name, legal mailing address and email address to your Contributors, or in the instances where the law requires it.
Updates. Provide substantive and quality updates at least once a month to Contributors. Immediately notify Contributors if there are obstacles or delays.
If you have received the Contributions from your Campaign, but are unable to deliver Perks, issue refunds to Contributors."), Indiegogo did not support nor protect the backers.
The owner of the campaign, despite reaching the required amount to produce the products, not only did not send what we backed, but was also completely unresponsive. I have tried multiple times to contact the owner for a refund that never arrived, and it is just impossible to communicate with the campaign owner. Also, there were no updates once a month as requested by Indiegogo. On top of that, the owner was selling the products before sending them to backers.
Indiegogo unfortunately has not respected their own terms and did not protect the backers.

I had actually believed in this…
I had actually believed in this concept. However, after two years of “investing” thousands of dollars in various projects I found 4 actual projects that came to conclusion and one honest refund and 9 that had to be total scams. From company locations, that didn’t exist, to outright lies. Once the “sponsor” said the project was shipped, Indiegogo closes everything, but the comment section. The problem is if you didn’t pay money you can’t see the comments about products that never showed up. Please
don’t waste your money here! If you’re really lucky you’ll get 5-10 cents back in your investment. The rest just pays for hot air and frustration.

The campaign owner broke multiple…
The campaign owner broke multiple terms.
Going through Indiegogo's terms and conditions, the campaign owner for a project I was backing broke multiple terms. More recently it appears the campaign owner has been selling stock before sending to backers. I created a ticket to that effect which was closed with no reply.
Backing a project comes with risks but when the campaign owner breaks multiple terms and conditions, Indiegogo will not stand by their own terms that are there to protect backers.

Stay away. As others have pointed out they facilitate scams. Supported Rudest (aka the rudest brand) but there were constant delays, changes in timing of manufacture & delivery of product. Then assured could swap into other product that was supposedly manufactured & ready for delivery but naturally the voucher didn’t work (after an ordeal to actually get it). In trying to make the conversion voucher work after assurances it now worked, inadvertently bought the product again (as the payment mechanism didn’t then allow for applying the supposedly valid discount). Now going round in circles of obfuscation & no response to WhatsApp communications at all. Meantime, they are conveniently no longer on the Indigogo site either.
Update: after lots of persistence & patience, the refund & product I’d swapped into arrived. Notably communications were taken over by the founder’s partner who at least was as good as her word & able to do what her partner seemed incapable of doing

How are they still in business?!
Backed a promising product (aren't they all?) and in an almost comically predictable turn of events, the product kept getting delayed over and over. Now, almost a year later, still no product. Contacted the Campaigner (as Indiegogo suggests, because why take responsibility?) who ignored all 3 attempts at communication. Contacted Indiegogo who also ignored me, predictably. So here I am, adding yet another 1 star review to a venerable crowd of displeased backers who I wish I knew about before allowing Indiegogo to scam me as well.

It’s been three years since I backed the aircord, and despite being provided with a tracking number that doesn’t work last year, I’ve still yet to receive anything. Worse still is that the company proceed with other Indiegogo projects! One look at the feedback for the initial projects shows this is a scam. No one seems to hold them to account.
