I interned with IAHQ after having just earned my degree in international relations and was eagerly looking for my first role post-college. Having several study abroad experiences already, I set my sights on positions outside the US. That's where IAHQ came in. I felt like IAHQ met me with the same enthusiasm and hope I had as a fresh graduate. We worked together to figure out my strengths and see where I could be a fit for their partnerships in South America. I was matched with a marketing internship in Cusco, Peru. Dallas was my program manager. She was available at what felt like all hours of the day/night for every question I could think of! I felt so prepared boarding my flight to Peru and even as I settled in, I knew Dallas and the whole team at IAHQ were behind me. To say the internship changed my life would be an understatement. I worked on translating my placement's website, taught adult English classes, worked the field assisting in home nutrition visits, and even got to help in their pastry program. It was through my work as an intern that I found a full-time job to stay in Cusco! I became a coordinator for a tourism agency there and stayed for about two more years. Intern Abroad HQ will set you up for success, help you forge lasting friendships and professional connections, and cheer you on every step of the way! I completed an online internship based in India focused on developmental psychology. My role involved watching recorded sessions and writing analytical reports, which strengthened my observation and report-writing skills. Communication was quick and efficient, though there was limited direct interaction with clients, which could be improved.

So, alot was expected. I signed up about a year ago, originally to go to South Africa for the Marine Biology and Reef Conservation. I was advised to try Costa Rica because of the travel scares of traveling as a female. When I signed up, my program manager, Dallas, had every single thing laid out for the smoothest process possible. I signed up for every excursion, added a week to obtain my dive certification and received college credit towards grad school. During my time there, my hostess, Maria was amazing and cooked some of the best dishes. She took all of my food allergies into account and kept me safe. It definitely helps to become familiar with the language of your visiting country. Every morning around 7am, I walked to the dive shop where we would go out for a.m. and p.m. dives. You become part of the community as you frequent the street and wave back at the ladies having their morning tea on their balconies. I felt safe.

Your training is with some of the best PADI Dive certified trainers in the country. You'll be back in time for classes and socializing with your housemates after a long day and just in time for dinner. My weekends were filled with thrift shopping, market food and latin dancing. It goes so quick! I encourage you to immerse yourself in the culture, the language and the people. My housemates and I are now friends for life and future dive partners.

Seven weeks was perfect for me. I was ready to see my family. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go to Samos, Greece next year with your new program. But after seeing InternAbroads thoroughness in helping me with travel and transportation arrangements, I'm doubling back on South Africa for sure. My grad school schedule only allows me four weeks of vacation per year cause were year-round...so know that this is not the last you have seen of me InternAbroad HQ!😁 See ya soon. Rachel

I really enjoyed the Marketing & Communications internship in Japan! It helped me grow personally, especially when it came to time management and gave me valuable, hands-on experience in marketing, design, and even improved my Japanese language skills. My remote internship with Intern Abroad HQ was an incredibly rewarding and eye-opening experience! It was inspiring to see the dedication and passion the local team has, and I left with not only professional growth but also a deeper appreciation for meaningful change.

I would 100% recommend this program to anyone looking for a meaningful, flexible, and enriching remote internship. I am 17 years old and this was my very first internship, and I couldn't be more grateful for this experience. I truly recommend to all ages and typed of people - as it is an opportunity to gain real-world experience while contributing to a cause that truly matters.

Intern abroad found me an internship I really enjoyed doing! All my conditions that I wanted were met and the company that I did my internship with were also very good. The support I received from intern abroad was also great- I could always reach out via email and even had support during my interview. Although it may seem expensive I definitely thought the experience was worth it.

Nancy and Jaime were wonderful hosts and encouraged me to explore Belize while also being focused on the animals. The meals that we got on weekdays were always very good and filling. Being taken around San Ignacio on the morning of my second day helped me to learn more about the area and feel more comfortable and better adjust. I immediately felt welcomed by the whole family and the other interns, and I could not have asked for a better experience!

They were always checking in with me and making sure everything went well. The host family that I stayed with always made sure I had food and was comfortable. I loved everything about it

All the support I received from the advisors and supervisors was incredibly helpful. It made the preparation process much less stressful and allowed everything to flow more smoothly. The internship experience itself was truly incredible. The only thing I wish I had was the opportunity to read or see more about past interns’ experiences beforehand, as it would have given me greater insight before traveling. I completed a remote internship with a UK-based marketing and communications company, and overall, it was a valuable experience. I started as a digital marketing intern and eventually took on more responsibilities as a sales and marketing executive. I had the chance to work on real client projects creating social media content, designing marketing materials, and helping manage B2B outreach. I especially enjoyed managing an Instagram account for a university, which gave me practical skills in content planning and digital engagement. The Local Team was supportive and gave me the freedom to contribute ideas and take ownership of tasks, which helped build my confidence.

However, there were a few challenges. Communication could be inconsistent at times, and some expectations, like promises of post internship opportunities or visa sponsorship, were not clearly followed through. More transparency and timely feedback would have improved the overall experience. Still, the internship helped me grow professionally, and I would recommend it to others looking for hands on remote experience in marketing.

My internship experience has been incredibly fun and rewarding. Even though the program is remote, I’ve learned so much, especially about bridging classroom concepts with real-world engineering applications. Everyone I have met so far has been supportive and welcoming, and my supervisor does a great job explaining complex topics clearly. I’ve felt engaged and valued throughout, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow both technically and professionally through this experience.
