Five stars for InvestEngine

Five stars for InvestEngine! The platform is intuitive and makes managing my DIY ISA portfolios feel effortless. What really sets it over the edge for me is the cost, having a free to use platform for ETF investing is a total game changer for my financial goals. If you want a simple, transparent, and user-friendly way to grow your ISA, this is it.

I recently decided to move my £10,000 Cash ISA over to InvestEngine, and the experience has been a breath of fresh air.

While I enjoyed the simplicity of apps like Plum for starting out, I felt I was outgrowing it and wanted a more 'serious' platform with lower fees and better ETF options.

The transfer process was incredibly smooth—I was worried about moving a five-figure sum, but the communication was clear throughout.

What really won me over was the zero-fee ISA and the ability to build a truly custom portfolio.

The interface strikes the perfect balance between being user-friendly and providing the professional-level insights I was looking for.

If you're looking to graduate from basic savings apps to a proper investment strategy, I can't recommend InvestEngine enough

FCA Complaint. No support, do not allow withdrawals and drag out KYC excessively

Avoid this business. They allow you to register and deposit money, following this they ask for KYC documents, not limited to driving licence, selfie, payslips etc. When requesting to withdraw money they delete the withdrawal request and drag their feet approving the documents and the withdrawal. They do not respond to customer queries in a timely manner and their is no form of contact other then an email or form, which takes days to action. As per their own terms : ‘Any cash held uninvested with InvestEngine does not earn interest for you — any interest generated will be retained by InvestEngine.’

Update:

Escalating this case to the FCA. And advise everyone who has the same experience to do the same.
9 days on from the original request of documents being requested I am still awaiting confirmation. Driving license, a selfie, a payslip and a bank statement dated for the month of March was sent. These were sent on the 29th April. On the 5th May a further document of a bank statement for the month of April was requested. 9 days and still awaiting confirmation of documentation.

In response to ‘ For transparency, our terms do state that uninvested cash does not earn interest, and this is clearly outlined before depositing’

The following terms found within InvestEngine T&C are contradictory towards this statement:

“By using our services, you agree to the retention of any interest earned on uninvested cash by InvestEngine.”

And

‘Any cash held uninvested with InvestEngine does not earn interest for you — any interest generated will be retained by InvestEngine.’

Nowhere does it state that uninvested cash does not generate interest, it in fact states the user will not earn any interest but any generated will be retained by InvestEngine.

Hello Sam,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience, this isn’t the standard we aim to provide.

To clarify, we’re required to complete identity checks (KYC) before processing withdrawals. This is a regulatory requirement designed to protect customers and prevent fraud, not to delay access to funds. In some cases, additional documents may be needed if we’re unable to verify details initially.

Withdrawal requests aren’t deleted, but they can be cancelled automatically if verification hasn’t been completed yet. Once checks are finalised, withdrawals are processed as quickly as possible.

You’re right to call out response times, we’re currently experiencing unusually high levels of contact, which has led to delays. That said, we know waiting days for a reply isn’t good enough, and we’re actively working to improve this.

For transparency, our terms do state that uninvested cash does not earn interest, and this is clearly outlined before depositing.

We’d really like to look into your case specifically and get this resolved. Please contact us via support@investengine.com with your details so we can prioritise this for you.

Hello Stephen,

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble accessing your account, we know how frustrating that can be.

Two-step authentication is an important security measure designed to keep your account and funds safe, but we appreciate it can be difficult if you’ve lost access to your recovery details.

It sounds like you’ve already tried to reset your recovery phrase and having checked, we can see someone from our team has since been in touch. We’re currently experiencing higher than usual contact volumes, which may be causing delays, but we are working through requests as quickly as possible.

We’ll await your response and will do everything we can to help you regain access to your account as quickly as possible.

It works for me

It works for me. I wanted a private pension option that would give me control and a platform to easily review my investments. It provides a wide range of ETFs and is easy to use from day one.

Easy to use APP and great for those who are new to investing. I opened my SIPP here and am enjoying investing and watching my money grow. Wish there was more graphs and analytics to show which part of my portfolio is doing well or not. But that could just be me getting used to this new platform.
