Using IXL feels like talking to a passive aggressive teacher who mocks you when you get a question wrong. Making mistakes is part of learning, but IXL makes it sound like if you get a question wrong,... See more

IXL is terrible
IXL is terrible. they discourage people when you lose points and its questions aren't really fit for the year. If there was a 0 star review i would use it. ixl gives me anixety and stress
My son likes IXL
My son is having a lot of learning issues. He has ADHD and other problem. I had him try out IXL, and he likes it. He doesn't feel discouraged when his points are deducted for mistakes, more than gaining points for getting things right. But he sees it as a challenge, and he likes to overcome himself every day he studies. The mastery system might be suitable for him. Diagnostics, assessment and recommendation is quite helpful to check your kid. So I would like to encourage the people behind designing this system. But if IXL keeps updating its content regularly, it would be very beneficial for kids
Well that's insulting!
Err... excuse me! Not being funny, but that's really rude, Maddie please stop
If there was a rating less than 1 star…
If there was a rating less than 1 star I would use it. I am a college educated, masters level adult with a professional license trying to help my high school freshman granddaughter with the English/Grammar modules. (BTW - English is my strong suit) This is the most frustrating, confusing and less than accurate program I have ever seen. The explanations are difficult to understand and did not help promote learning for either of us. She worked with her mother (who also has a masters degree and is very skilled with grammar) and I on some of the grammar modules. It took the 3 of use working together over an hour and half to complete the unit to the 100% level. My granddaughter is a straight A student who finds the work almost impossible to complete without major frustrations and huge amounts of time to correct any incorrect answers because of the huge punitive penalties.
IXL is horrible
IXL is horrible. I am a student using ixl. And even if I get a correct answer, it's marked wrong. Besides, when you get one question right, you get 1-3 points (you must collect points until 100 to complete), but when you get one wrong, you can subtract 10 points! As I have learnt from others, this can get into you and discourage you from doing anything. It damages the psychology and makes the student doubt themselves about their skills. On top of that, they get the vocabulary wrong! For example, who calls a Circle's circumference a perimeter????
Im okay with IXL
not gonna lie some comments are harsh but I get it it can be annoying but it can be good for younger kids it helps some learn and some angry but we all have different learning styles so next time you get mad at IXL just remember it might not just be your thing
this app sucks
this app is so bad,i been doing ixl for 2 years and from personal experience ixl will literally answer a question correct and still get it wrong then it takes away 10-15 points but once you get it correct it only gives you 2-4 points and the explanations are very bad,so don't listen to those two guys name Muhammad and Stephen giving the app a 5 stars
it is awful ixl compared to most other websites
it is awful ixl compared to most website is the most punishing learning out there, if you read stephens review that calls us "entitled children" he doesn't have to go through pain or agony he just chooses a course and sends it off to his sons not having to do any work, so no it is not a good site and is a poor mental health choice
HORRIBLE…
I do not like this because when you get one wrong you go back like 8 but if you get it correct then you only go up 3 and also the examples are horrible I don't even get it but for atom learning if you get one wrong you don't go back it just explained what you did wrong and IXL just drives me mad when I kept on going back, so I don't ever recommend this at ALL because the kids will go MAD this is horrible DO NOT USE THIS AT ALL!
A great app for kids
The negative reviews to IXL, are from entitled children (that’s not being harsh…read them for yourself and be the judge). Their complaints have little to do with how IXL supports children’s progress, which is why I am so pleased that I didn’t listen and have pushed on with encouraging my sons to use it.
I’ve seen an improvement in their attainment in English and Maths, in the two years since they started using it.
What I love:
1. Ability to tailor it to follow the national curriculum
2. Recommended questions based on areas for improvement
3. There are education themed games that they love playing once they’ve finished their work
4. Sends weekly progress updates/reviews to our emails
What I’d improve:
1. One for science?
2. A third payment option for quarterly?
3. Support for students doing 11+ ?
Really Good
Really Good. Why u guys so angry? The Geometry prizes are so cool.
never use app needs to be taken down
this is the worst thing it is a waste of time the only thing that makes me do it is my teachers.
IXL is trash it dosen't help in your…
IXL is trash it dosen't help in your learning at all.The app just makes me crazy and sets my brains onto fire. The app has an unfair earn of points. For example it gives me two points for answering right question and takes away 6 points for one wrong question. It also pays people for a good review. It is such a awful game.Never ever download it it is rubbish. The worst game ever its also my friends opinion.A RUBBISH GAME!!!!!!!!!!
App is amazing. Try for yourself
I used this app after advise from a friend for my kids and its been amazing. I was a bit sceptical at first the reviews which I saw here but I can say from experience these reviews are not a reflection of the benefits of this app. I picked an example to explain why some of the review even doesn't make sense.
USER WROTE: Whole website is absolute torture unless you are a pro at the skill you are currently doing.
MY EXPERIENCE: The app starts the basics which is divided to different sections so users can start from a more difficult section if they feel comfortable.
USER WROTE: There are many cursed things including: 1.the fact that you lose score more that you gain at a certain point
MY EXPERIENCE: This is done to ensure the user knows the topic in question. If a user fails a question, 2 or 3 similar questions are giving to ensure the user knows and not pass it by chance.
USER WROTE: There are many cursed things including: 2. the time counter which is used to count how long you have had to struggle with the questions.
MY EXPERIENCE: The timer is not used to judge how a user has struggled. This is common sense that if you spend more time in certain section to understand it, your time counter will be more. This is not used to judge how you struggle but my kids can use it as a metric to see how quickly they were able to do that section at the second time of trying. I think this complain by the user has to do with mindset. The app can only do so much
USER WROTE: There are many cursed things including: 3. The fact that you can't retry problems that you failed. please allow people to retry the problems.
MY EXPERIENCE: This makes no sense to me. When u fail a question, the answer is usually shown before you proceed to the next question. Retrying it makes no sense. The idea of the app is to know concepts of how solutions are achieved and not give you brain dumps for an exam
CONCLUSION: My kids overall performance has improved greatly in school with my daughter now even able to teach her mates due to her understanding the concepts. Success comes with patience, hardwork, practice and time. The app works but not if you are looking for magic 🙂
the problems with ixl
this whole website is absolute torture unless you are a pro at the skill you are currently doing. there are many cursed things including: 1.the fact that you lose score more that you gain at a certain point, 2. the time counter which is used to count how long you have had to struggle with the questions, and 3. the fact that you can't retry problems that you failed. please allow people to retry the problems.
👎THE WORST APP I HAVE EVER USED
IXL will make me JUMP off a cliff
PAUL MISHKIN WHY WOULD YOU CREATE SUCH AN APP, IT WANTS TO MAKE ME BURN, WHEN I GET A QUESTION WRONG IT TAKES ME DOWN 10-15 POINTS WHEN A GET A QUESTION WRONG INSTEAD OF TRYING IT AGAIN
Ixl is not a good thing
Ixl is not a good thing. I have done it at school and it does not help at all with school. We already have enough stuff on our backs like hours of homework and now we have to do ixl. The reason they have an hour counter was for ixl to check how long they were able to torture kids
