Avoid this agency at all costs

I am leaving this review to strongly caution any landlord or tenant considering this agency. My experience has been extremely negative and has resulted in severe financial loss and months of unnecessary stress.

From the beginning, the agency failed to provide clear, transparent, and complete information about the tenant they placed in my property. I later discovered details that were not disclosed at the time of letting - the tenant was my assigned letting agent working in the agency. This was not declared to me, and it created a serious perception of a conflict of interest. No professional letting agent should operate in a way that raises these kinds of concerns.

Throughout the tenancy, communication from the agency was slow, inconsistent, and often unhelpful. My tenant got sacked by the agency since the surfacing of the potential conflict of interest and as a result she stopped paying rent, the agency provided no meaningful support. I was left to manage escalating arrears completely on my own, despite the fact that I had relied on the agency to act in my interests and manage the tenancy responsibly.

The result has been significant unpaid rent, legal costs, and enormous emotional distress. At every critical point, I felt the agency failed to act with the professionalism, transparency, and diligence that any landlord should be able to expect.

In my experience, this agency did not protect my interests, did not communicate honestly, and did not take responsibility for issues arising from the tenancy they arranged.

If you are a landlord or tenant considering using this agency, I strongly advise you to:

1) Demand full written disclosure of all relevant information,
2) Question any possible staff-tenant connections,
3) Verify every document provided,
4) And do not rely on verbal assurances.

Based on what I went through, I would not recommend this agency, and I urge others to proceed with extreme caution.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS AGENCY

This agency has consistently fallen short of expectations. Their level of professionalism is notably lacking.
We frequently found ourselves having to follow up for rental payments, despite allowing a grace period of two weeks beyond our contractual agreement. Statements are only provided upon request, which is concerning given that this should be a simple automated process and a requirement by law.
Furthermore, the high turnover rate among staff suggests that new employees may not receive adequate training.
In our initial dealings with this agency, we signed a two-year contract. However, after the first year, the agency unilaterally cancelled the agreement with the tenants and replaced them without our knowledge.
The only indication we received was a discrepancy in the payment schedule, which prompted us to inquire further. Unfortunately, we received no response. This lack of communication raised concerns, leading us to cancel the contract, only to discover that the occupants of the flat were not the original tenants we had contracted with.

Beware

As an overseas landlord, I have been letting in London for over 20 years with a variety of agencies. Jack Barclay was a more recent choice after a convincing on line and verbal sales pitch. Over the past year it has become plain that they are unable to handle the simplest of tasks relating to my property. Both the tennant and I have been unable to solicit a response from any department in the company. The rent is only paid after I chase each month and they fail to send invoices for services and items which they purchase on my behalf. There appears to be no internal communication between the letting and management department. By law, I should receive receipts for expensive outgoings which show that VAT has been paid so that I may furnish the inland revenue department with such documents. These are not forthcoming and on further investigation I discover that I have been over charged having investigated the original suppliers. All in all trying to work with this company is a nightmare and it is likely that I will contact the ombudsman as a result. STAY CLEAR

Fraudulent service

I’m writing this review to express my profound disappointment and frustration with my experience as a landlord under the management of Jack Barclays Property Management. As someone who entrusted them with the responsibility of overseeing my rental property, I expected a high level of professionalism and dedication to their services. Regrettably, my encounter with this company has been far from satisfactory.

From the outset, communication with Jack Barclays Property Management has been an arduous task. They consistently neglected phone calls and, shockingly, even hung up on me during attempts to address legitimate concerns. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and does not align with the level of service one should expect from a property management company.

One of the most distressing issues I faced was their questionable handling of rental payments. Despite my tenants consistently making on-time and full payments, the company held onto rental funds without justification. This blatant mishandling of financial matters not only reflects poorly on their competence but also undermines the trust that landlords place in their management.

The incompetence of their administrative team is strikingly evident. It appears that the company hires individuals who lack the necessary skills and preparedness for their roles. This incompetence has led to mistakes and a failure to perform basic tasks effectively, causing unnecessary frustration and inconvenience.

Furthermore, the delays in financial transactions are beyond reasonable tolerance. The extensive time it took for me to receive rental payments reflects a lack of organization and efficiency on their part. This delay has had a negative impact on my financial planning and my ability to manage my property effectively.

To make matters worse, I discovered instances where Jack Barclays Property Management misled both landlords and tenants. This breach of trust not only damages relationships but also reflects a concerning lack of ethical conduct on their part.

In summary, I strongly caution fellow landlords against seeking the services of Jack Barclays Property Management. My personal experience with their unprofessional conduct, poor communication, financial mishandling, and misleading behavior has left me deeply dissatisfied. As a landlord, it is crucial to have a property management company that can be relied upon to handle matters responsibly and with integrity. Unfortunately, Jack Barclays Property Management falls far short of meeting these expectations. I urge you to explore alternative options for your property management needs to avoid the frustration and disappointment I have endured.
