Scammer

Seller doesn't offer delivery, doesn't offer warranty, car description not accurate. I bought this car with dead battery, windscreen cracked, multiple electrical faults, missing oil stick and even the ad was saying will have fresh mot.it didn't. I gave him a chance (2 days) to make things right and didn't do nothing so yesterday morning seller has been reported to Police for fraud. Personally i wouldn't allow him to post on this website as makes people to avoid it as it's hosting fraudsters

Thank you Jason and all the team at J & M Cars. Well done.

I was looking for a quality car and saw a 2018 Jaguar XF R - Sport for sale at J & M Cars Lytham St Annes. I phoned up and spoke to Jason who told me the history of the Jaguar and that he had serviced it from new for a Dentist and as the car was known to him, it was in excellent condition. I traveled over with my nephew to see the car, on our arrival, we were offered a nice cup of tea whilst checking the car out. We took it for a test drive and were very pleased as it was indeed a nice car. We paid a deposit and Jason said he would MOT the car for us and drop it off in Huddersfield on Monday morning. I phoned Jason a couple of days later to make payment and was told whilst the car had passed the MOT it had an advisory for front disks and pads it didn't need them but Jason would replace them at no cost to me and deliver the car with a full tank of diesel less the amount used to travel to Huddersfield for Monday morning. True to his word it was delivered with nearly a full tank of diesel and brand-new disks and pads fitted with all the paperwork to go with it.
It has been a pleasure to deal with a fantastic gentleman true to his word ( thank you Jason and all at J & M Cars ).

Unsafe cars

I bought a Suzuki from them which is worth about 2400. I paid 3300 before I bought it.I dint know before I bought it I asked if it was broken and they said no. I went to see it and I slept on it and I bought it. I called them up when I would like to pick up the car. They said ok so I thought it was ready for collection. They gave it to me when I realised the side mirror was not working. They said they ordered a new button. The front wiper stopped in the middle of the window when turned off, so they ordered a cable? I am not a mechanic but it is not a cable, it's a motor. They said they will call me when it’s there. When I was driving home, I felt something was not right. They gave me tires with low air instead of 33, it was 11. So straight away I had to change the tyres and take to my local garage, they said I am right, find another problem what I told them that has been corrected, I hope? When I tried to make the mirror, I realised it's actually working just the button is functioning opposite way, why? They said it was not broken? When I went back to fix the car, I tried to explain to the guy I said there was no need to change the button. He changes it any way bite my head he knows what does he doing. Really? and change the cable on the wiper. He said check the mirror and pushed me to check the mirror, not the wiper . It's moved but I couldn’t move it to the right position, they said this is the max it will move, it's a left mirror its is not going more down or in. I checked the wiper, of course it is not working. I already changed the wiper blade when I bought the car because the old one didn't work but they changed it with the new used motor and the blade was different and dint clean the window so I had to buy it again. And I told another guy the mirror I can not put in the position I need it to be done. It is not safe to drive. He shouted at me that he won't buy a new mirror when the mirror was broken? What I want from a 16 years old car ? First, I bought it because I paid an extra 900 pounds then the car was worth it because I didn’t know and I needed one quickly. You lied, it actually was broken. Not talking about them hitting a footpath or something with my new tyre cost me 300 pounds, and all over on the left mirror and front of the car the engineer's oily fingerprints are and the seat was oily as well ,my white trousers became really oily after I picked up the car so I had to trow to way . I took it to wash the car but it is not coming off. And they lost the smaller mirror from the left side mirror so now I can not see anything in it.

But if I want to be picky the key doesn't work, the clock doesn't work, no cover on the boots and the car was disgusting when I picked it up. And knob cover is broken .and lots of small things

Now I have a car what not safe to drive so I have to do something with the mirror just I don’t understand why? I won’t buy again a car for them and don’t recommend them. The woman was nice but the small guy shouted with me for no reason if you sell the car sell a safe car. Their engineer has no idea what his doing.

Steer Clear!

Where to start with this one!

Firstly, they get two stars rather than one for the promptness of delivery, they delivered my car from Birmingham to Fife quickly and for a good price.

I'm afraid that's where the good news ends.

The car clearly has a dodgy MOT. The MOT record doesn't even have an advisory, despite the brake discs being extremely worn and ball joints knocking loudly. Both these faults should have been a fail, never mind not even an advisory.

The car didn't start with a cold engine and ran poorly when you could finally get it going; something not stated in the ad nor reflected in the price.

When the car arrived it had significant paint damage which wasn't shown in the photos.

The key didn't work upon delivery. The owner lied and told me a second key was in the post. This never arrived.

In summary; a sketchy, dishonest dealer. Stay clear.

Fraud and dodgy people

Fraud and dodgy people . I bought Citreon cactus from them December 2021. The man name Ross said it’s RAC mot passed and is under 3 month warranty with RAC. And after 10 days one after another car have problems. I called RAC to check they clearly said this car has no warranty registered with them. I took it to RAC approved garage they checked the car and clearly said that gear box needs to be checked there is clear problem in reverse gear . Car horn does not make sound that could be hear by other drivers on road in any serious situation . How RAC can pass the mot. Not only this during car cleaning it turns out that there is hole under the matt and when I asked him what is this? He said that you checked the car before buying you should check it before . So don’t trust them they are not gonna tell you that these are the problems in car before selling. I am going to complain RAC as well how they pass the MOT and why they are RAC approved ?

Good evening Ayesha. I’m sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the service you received from us. Let’s me just respond to your points:-

1 - You raised an issue with the gearbox of the automatic vehicle that you purchased which was fully checked and is a characteristic of the vehicle and there were no fault codes at all on the vehicle. The car drives exactly as it should.

2 - The car horn does make a noise which is the reason that it passed it’s MOT. Just because you don’t like the noise the horn makes it doesn’t change the fact that it works and does the job it is there to do. As stated when we spoke with the RAC they will not fix a part that isn’t broken. You can also feel free to contact them as they will tell you the same information.

3 - You bought a vehicle and using your own words ‘I realise it’s a used car’. The vehicles we sell are not brand new and some have some cosmetic damage like the worn footwell on the vehicle you purchased. We are a clear and transparent company and we go to great lengths to advertise our vehicles exactly as they are - used cars. There is some wear to the carpet but this is purely cosmetic and would need the whole carpet changing. Any other garage selling used cars would not do this either. When you visited the dealership you spent around 2 hours checking the vehicle with absolutely no pressure from us. You were given the keys and documents and given as much time to check the vehicle over and you were happy with the car and decide to purchase the car. You can’t them come back to us months later and ask us to fix something that doesn’t need fixed.

4 - We do not do our own MOT’s these are carried out by a local indendent company which means that not only has the car been through an RAC inspection but it has also been checked for the legal standard required by law by another company that is of no connection to us.

5 - We are proud to say that we are an RAC accredited dealership and are audited by the rac on the quality of our cars on a regular basis and have never failed an audit. Feel free to ask the RAC for our scores when you speak to them.

I hope this answers your questions but I find it shocking that you would use the words ‘fraud’ and ‘dodgy’ to describe our business just because you didn’t get what you wanted when you could have spoken up about at the time of sale and we could have dealt with these issues. You could have walked away from the car at the time and purchased something you believe is satisfactory to your needs.

Stay well clear

I bought a BMW 1 series from this mob and after 6 months it broke down engine was done due to a chain guide collapsing so not covered under warranty....I had to purchase a 2nd hand engine which ok the garage sourced it and it was wrong one so 4 months later the origional engine was built back up and it lasted 4 months and the bottom half went and I was told to replace yet another engine ....yes I had a courtesy car for the whole duration but in between times I suffered 2 heart attacks (not related to said complaint ) but I decided to hand car back and it's now parked outside the garage in Perth and I may add at a bus stop ......I have now took it further as I get absolute no help from them whatsoever will keep you updated

Stay clear

I purchased a car from them in April 2021. I have called them multiple times and left a voicemail with my name and number.

I have no service book and I’m assuming they haven’t sent the logbook off yet as I still haven’t received my updated logbook. I should have trusted my instinct when I arrows to pick the car up as they only had 1 key there and had to post me the 2nd key.

I have also emailed them about the logbook with no reply. Absolute shambles of a place. Unlike their reply, yes I did know the key was to be posted but I was never told this was covid related. And it’s funny how I emailed the company about my v5 on the 8 July saying I may have a speeding ticket and guess what date the application for the new V5 was?? Yes the 9th! Needless to say I have sold that car now due to not trusting that the garage had carried out the service correctly as their sales service and after care was insufficient. I only found out that my services were stored online when I contacted the service department as sales just don’t answer the phone ever.

As for the reply to this post. You can see the poor attitude straight away. Zero accountability from them. All blame on the customer.

Just to illustrate how I know I paid you for the Tax (car £12,750 + reservation fee £99 = £12,849). I made two payments to you. £99 + £12,733 = £12,832 - £12,750 (cost of car) = £82 (6 months tax). Please check your records you will find this is correct.

I have also just tried to call them to discuss the situation. They did offer a refund for the tax. Which I didn’t accept as my car had been tax and it was not what I was looking for. The guy has explained it was an admin error on their behalf which I accept may have been an error. However, he did call me a liar on numerous occasions on the basis that I said I never received a service book (this however is true is didn’t receive one but not was it explained to me that it was all online).

I mentioned I dealt with a bald guy which the reply to this was ‘ We don’t have a bald guy working for us, you want me to take a picture of me and my partner and send you it’

I know I’m not their only customer. There are probably others who have had a good experience but my experience of the after care was poor.

It is a BMW you bought which does not come with a service book with all service information being stored on the idrive along with an invoice from ourselves with any additional work carried out as part of the RAC inspection. At point of collection for your new car you were given the green slip to tax your car and the owner was changed online by us?? Unfortunately we do not have control over the dvla and it does sometimes take a couple of weeks for the new V5 to arrive at the new owners address?? As you were told at the time the customer who traded the BMW in still had the spare key but was isolating during a world pandemic and could get the key in to us until he was allowed out the house and as soon as he was we posted hey which you completely aware of!!!
I think it is awful for you to put a review like this on when you are wrong especially when you emailed at 9:45pm when we were closed for the night and put this review on 12 minutes later when we didn’t respond!!!

Avoid at all costs

I bought my car June 2020 with a full service history that took three months worth of multiple calls, emails and eventually RAC involvement to obtain. Advisories on the MOT were not disclosed that had l known about l wouldn't have purchased the car. They never even bothered to send the paperwork to DVLA so had to sort that myself too. Nightmare to deal with, avoid at all costs.....

In reply to JM Car Sales respose I had to chase this information for three months, you had to obtain from the previous owner. The Goodwill gesture was a free service and MOT which is useless when all trust is gone. I can back up all my claims with the relevant correspondance, including the agreement for the car return and this being rescinded when the documention was suddenly obtained and l was told the delay was due to the previous owner being out the country.

Hi Jayne, I’m sorry to hear you’re not happy with the service you received from us a JM. All our vehicles are prepared to the RAC standard and above and our garage has always scored 100% on our RAC audits. Our MOTs are carried out by an independent garage and is fully available to see on the DVLA website. With regards to the service history yes we did advise that was a full history and the book was misplaced prior to you collecting but once we found it we posted to you straight away with confirmation that the vehicle was advertised correctly as we do with all our vehicles. At the time of your complaint we were in contact with yourself and the RAC until the issue was sorted and even offered a gesture of goodwill to for the time taken to get the service information which you declined to accept.

Bought our new car

Bought our car from lee at JM car sales, from speaking over the phone asking questions before hand up until the day we collected it he was fantastic, friendly helpful and calm. Even once I took the car home and had an issue it was fixed right away no fault to them. Definitely would recommend them both to anybody wanting to buy a new car
