Why my 4th Skoda will be my last
I took delivery of our fourth Skoda 9 months ago, fully expecting it to be as trouble free as the previous models. We have, however, been equally disappointed in the car, a Kodiaq TDI SEL 4x4, and the dealer. None of the many issues with the car have been resolved. The salesman was well aware of the need for a towbar and sent me to local supplier, Alba. At no time was I made aware of the problems that would cause. There was no mention that the addition of what is an inert piece of steel would require "coding", that VAG Group do no facilitate this, and without it, the car refuses to reverse with a trailer attached! The dealers early response was that this coding would become available, but 9months on, there has been no progress. Basically the car is unsuitable for purpose.
I would also warn anyone considering the Skoda Kodiaq that the so called "driver assistance" is anything but. Our car has on several occasions, refused to move, into and out of tight parking spaces. Constant pulling and twitching of steering on country roads which have no white lines, random severe braking for no good reason (risking being rear-ended), random braking and acceleration when using cruise control. The auto wipers appear to be totally random and wiper operation is awkward. Also irritating is the rear view camera dominating the screen till the car reached 10mph forward, so that SatVav and radio are not available when exiting a car park or narrow drive. Clearly buying the same model of car again, assuming it would be the same or an improvement, or that the dealer would sort out the problems was my mistake. A very expensive mistake!

Disappointed Experience - We were very disappointed with the lack…
We were very disappointed with the lack of communication and consistency from the sales team throughout our experience. We had arranged an appointment with a specific salesperson, only to arrive and be told they were no longer working there. A simple call or email beforehand would have avoided this confusion and allowed us to prepare to meet someone else.
This issue happened again later when we called to discuss our cherished number plate, only to be informed that the person we had been dealing with had moved to another garage. Once again, there had been no communication, and we were passed to yet another salesperson without any prior notice. A courtesy update would have made a significant difference. Would have made us feel valued.
We also felt that we were required to do far more of the administrative work than expected, particularly regarding the removal and transfer of the cherished plate, something we have never had to manage ourselves before.
When arranging collection of the car, we received the finance paperwork only the day before. The online portal initially did not work, requiring assistance from the salesperson, and by the time everything was completed it was late in the evening. On the day of collection, we were then informed that the original finance agreement had expired and that it might not be possible to process a new one in time. This was extremely frustrating, especially as we had already arranged insurance. It would seem reasonable for there to be a system in place to flag expiring agreements and issue updated documents in advance.
This uncertainty significantly impacted what should have been an exciting experience. We did not receive confirmation that everything was approved until just two hours before collection, via a phone call from our salesperson, despite living two hours away from the dealership which was far from ideal. Unfortunately, our salesperson ended up bearing the brunt of our frustration, even though our concerns were directed at the company and its processes.
Upon arrival, once the handover was complete, we were disappointed that no walkthrough of the vehicle’s updated dashboard was provided. This is something we have always received in the past and would have been particularly helpful. Instead, we received an email to return at a later date if we wanted a demonstration, which felt like an unnecessary inconvenience. Again down to the company’s processes.
Finally, we were surprised to be charged £25 for petrol. Given the significant cost of purchasing a brand-new car, a small gesture such as providing fuel would have been appreciated and is something we have previously experienced.
Overall, the process lacked the level of communication, organisation, and company customer care we would have expected, and previously experienced and it unfortunately detracted from what should have been a positive and memorable experience.

I haven't bought a new car in over 10 years and was nervous about getting a new one I went in and spoke to Matthew who's was fantastic put me at easy talked me through the whole process and listened to what my needs were.
