Bought the satin interior wood and metal paint in sage green. Prepped wood panelling and proceeded to paint. Or should I say slid some paint around for a bit. It will not cover at all, just streaks an... See more

Why do I have to give the room 3or 4…
Why do I have to give the room 3or 4 coats with this rubbish, plus it stinks like a sailors sock
Put a tin of quick dry satin paint
Put a tin of quick dry satin paint. Soon as the brush touched the wood the paint went dry making it impossible to spread without leaving lines. Have used their oil based paints too, not very good. However Johnstones emulsion is a lot better.
Rubbish paint I’m afraid to say!
We purchased this paint for the bedroom and booked the decorator to come and do the job and unfortunately this paint is awful and looks dreadful even after four coats. The painter feels bad for not being able to do a good job, it’s not his fault but I feel let down and this has been costly. I wish I had read the reviews first, even if it meant ditching it and getting a tin elsewhere.
Silk Emulsion - Dreadful Product
Wish I had found these reviews before I used Johnstones Silk Emulsion for the first time. It is dreadful paint. It pulls off the wall with a second stroke of the brush, dries patchy, and marks with the slightest touch, caught it with my nail when putting up curtain pole and the paint has come off to the original colour. Used a roller first and hardly any paint stayed on the wall. Changed to a paint pad, and still the paint pulled off, watered down the 3rd and 4th coats, to try to hide the patchy finish. Dreadful and disappointing finish for all the hard work.
Smells awful
Bought the Johnstones bathroom emulsion paint, the smell has been awful, it needs a second coat and just don't think I could stand the smell. So strong. Have.put onions in the room and sprayed odour air freshener. Only bought it a.couple weeks.ago , so was used last week for the first time. I know paint can smell but this has been bad.
Don't waste your time
I've used Johnstone's paint for years and always found it really good however this time round it's been a disaster. I bought Johnstone's wood and metal paint satin in manhattan sky to revamp a few large pieces of furniture (as I've done many time's before). After throughly cleaning and lightly sanding I applied 2 coats of Zinsser B.I.N and then started to paint. The initial coat went on patchy and streaky, hardly leaving any paint on the pieces, cut to 4 coats later and I give up, it's still the same, I can still see the primer coming through and every brush stroke, it just won't level, there's light and dark area's, some shiny, some matt. The paint has no viscosity and smells so so bad. I've no idea what Johnstone's have done to their paint but it's not good and this experience has completely turned me off ever buying their paint again. Also to note, the paint colour was supposed to be a cool grey, it's not, it's actually blue and looks nothing like the images.
There's no point in complaining to them as they obviously don't care about their customers judging by the reviews and lack of customer care. How they're still in business I don't know.
I returned the paint to my local Woodies, who were absolutely fantastic. I exchanged it for Dulux, two coats later and the problem has been rectified.
What the hell has happened to Johnson’s…
What the hell has happened to Johnson’s decorating centre York Clifton Moor branch, customer service non existent!
No help no advice, rude, just ripped me off and sold me the most expensive tin of paint instead of normal Matt emulsion!!
Lost my custom

Newbury branch fantastic service by Teri P she is a credit to your company very helpful and knowledgeable of your products
Worst paint.
Worst paint.
Needed 3 coats of paint.
When trying to paint over coat 2, it pulled the layers of paint off the first 2. Never again.... ever. I mean ever... yes, ever.
Fantastic. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly.
I have been choosing paints to redecorate the entire house after renovations. This has involved a couple of trips to the johnstones paint branch in Bracknell. And the experience has renewed my faith in good customer service. Mandy the lady who has helped me on both occasions has been fantastic. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and genuinely willing to help. Brilliant, well done.
Rude
Rude, abrupt salesperson in Reading store. Inadvertently strayed into a Staff Only section - marked by a thin black and yellow strip of tape on the floor. The saleswoman shouted, "Excuse me! That is a staff only area. You won't understand!" This was in front of another customer. I left immediately.
Johnstones trade bathroom paint
Johnstones trade bathroom paint. Absolutely awful. I’m covering pebble grey (just off-white) so expected two coats to cover but the first is up and the result is terrible. Patchy to apply, rollers off when you go over a section twice and smells. Bought from Brewsters, using Harris brush to cut in and Albany short pile roller. I’m an experienced diy-decorator so walls pre-cleaned, quality tools, all taped off. Will be returning this paint tomorrow - it’s absolutely horrendous. Definitely never use again.
Do not waste your money on johnstones…
Do not waste your money on johnstones paint it is the worst product everjust pulls off again then runs all over and thats the emulsion, 0 star rating, pathetic

When rollering uts the same yoy get a couple of runs then it just takes the paint off, on my third coat sill very patchy 1 tin to do a 10ft square wall
I've painted all my life I work as building maintenance I do all the painting
Won't be using this again and will be getting refund
Wish I could swear on here what a f@#£%^@ waste of time
Awful paint
Awful paint. I used the Aqua Guard line of trade paint for walls, ceilings, and woodwork. It gets dirty so easily that even looking at it seems to leave marks. The woodwork paint is soft, easily damaged, and scratches effortlessly. Absolutely a waste of time and money. Avoid!
I really wish I had read the reviews…
I really wish I had read the reviews before buying Johnstones paint..Bought midnight sapphire just to do my chimney breast wall, thankfully...It was very patchy even after 3 coats. And if it was touched by anything, a hand, a cloth even a photo frame leaned against it, it left white streaks, really like a chalk feel off it... Now I've had to buy more paint, Dulux this time. I have had to wash as much of the Johnstone off the wall before I can repaint...A total disaster. I have alway used Dulux and never had an issue in 25year... I Can honestly say that Johnstone paint is absolutely shit !!! Don't buy it !!
Pure useless
Pure useless. Makes jobs go twice as long, stay away from this stuff
No coverage..
No coverage... really watery... terrible terrible paint
I brought johnsons cupboard paint
I brought johnsons cupboard paint. Don't get me wrong, it went on lovely and only took 2 coats on each door. But please tell me why it peels like acrylic paint? Even your own paint peels .
Avoid Johnstone's Consumer Paint
Not sure people are reviewing the trade paint which is fine. As for the regular paint Johnstone's from B&M and the like totally rubbish. No coverage I thought a dark purple would cover easily. 5 coats to cover and it streaked white every time it was touched after it dried. Same with a white Silk no coverage switched to Dulux normal after 2 coats over existing white. Wickes own brand is better. Customer services claimed Matt paints all streak white. Rubbish other good quality paints don't. The gap between Johnstones consumer and trade is huge. Less so between Dulux regular and Trade. You get what you pay for, it is cheap for a reason.
