As a guest and a cosplayer, the neglect of medical needs was astonishing. As a person with medical disabilities(autism ontop of a seizure disorder) it was horrifying to know that bags wete never checked furing the main con event, anyone could of brought amytbing in that could of dangered another human being, but when the rave came around, bags all togetehr were denied entry, not even bags rhat were for medical purposes(which mine were) not only had i have to change out of a costume that had actuve wires(it was lined with leds and when sweating its not good) but to have my meds with me when a certan time came aroudn for me to take them, i was denied. Changing in the back kf my feiends mothers car o top of having to leave my medications outside in the parking lot was unsettling to me amd made me highly stressed. I told them multiple times i needed them but they refused. Later on in the rave me and a few friends and some other atendees went to relax in the bathroom due to anxiety, i dont remeber much of what happened but i did end up havung a severe seizure that lasted mote then 5 minutes ontop of a relapse, i was supposed to have my medicne on me to take but they refused to let me have it. Only then in the middle of my seizure they allowed a friend of mine to bring my bag in. It was so bad i had to be taken out of the venue via stretcher and taken to the hospital. The owner just stood there while i had my seizure and said "she(depsite me being a trans male and is aware) shoudl t be here if she has epilepsy (keep in mind i dont have epilepsy, theres different types of seizures). Proceed to dismiss my medical emergency, the following day i amde sure to take my medicine and only planned tk attendd the last day for a few hours because i wasnt feeling th4 best but didnt want to miss the last day(im stubborn) he ran into me and all he had to say was "glad to see your back and didnt run away from the con" at the time i didnt think much of it but not once did he asl if i was okay or how im feeling, be caref more about hoany people attended isntead of the well-being of his attendees

Would not recommend this con. the venue was small so there was overcrowding, there was also only one set of bathrooms and no family bathrooms which is inconvenient. They also had some voice actors set up by or in front of exits which is very unsafe if an emergency were to happen. I’ve also been reading some other reviews about them discriminating against a transgender person which is never okay. This con was not safe and not done properly, personally I’m not wasting money on this con again.

Discrimination is not okay, and you've done nothing short of that.

I had a great time at KadabraCon. The venue was small and packed but I think the Con is new so hopefully they will get a bigger venue. Overall I thought it was a fun experience!

Absolutely awful con, from overcrowding to poor handling of emergencies to countless people being discriminated against and made to feel unsafe. Con staff didn't let my friend bring his seizure medicine into the after party, causing an almost five minute delay in supplying it when he DID have a seizure. And no accountability has been taken by the convention. Unprofessional and untrustworthy.

A trans man was discriminated against by a kadabracon employee while abiding by Texas law regarding bathrooms. Under Texas law, people must use the bathroom that aligns with their birth sex, which this man was doing by being in the women’s bathroom. The man was not causing a scene, but instead sitting and decompressing with several other people on the benches in the bathroom. The employee, acting on complaints of “a man in the women’s restroom” committed an act of gross discrimination, leaving the man with no option but to leave the only bathroom in the venue he had legal right to use. Remember, under Texas law, if he were to use the men’s restroom he would have been vulnerable to further discrimination, arrest, or assault.

Kadabracon has demonstrated that they hold no space for trans people, that they will force them to violate state law or else to leave, and that they wish to exclude trans people from their events by giving them no safe place to relieve themselves or to simply exist in view of others. It is a violation of human dignity and human rights.

Where was he supposed to go when he needed to use the bathroom at the event he paid to attend? To the men’s room, where he would be in violation of the law? Or the women’s room, where he was just forced to leave even though he is in compliance with the law? Remember that he was just sitting and talking with friends about anime; for what reason should he be asked to leave? Where else could he have gone to use the bathroom for any purpose? Was he supposed to leave the venue and come back? Why? Simply on the basis of him being trans? Then that is discriminatory on the part of Kadabracon and should be punished.
