Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 46 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained that the shoes and boots quickly fell apart, with soles separating and materials cracking after very little wear, making them completely unwearable. Consumers also felt that the steep prices did not reflect the poor manufacturing quality and overall lack of long-term durability. Though some reviewers experienced major durability issues, a few people were still satisfied with the initial comfort and fit of the footwear. Many buyers noted that certain models felt great on their feet, provided good support, and offered a pleasant experience when first worn.

Keen advertised the Targhee 2 as being waterproof. It never showed signs of even being water resistant. The manmade portion of the lower outer surface failed within 3 1/2 weeks. Sole shows separation... See more

Initially impressed, but then they fell apart!

Was initially really impressed with the Targhee walking I bought, it was really comfortable right from the get go. 6 months in, it was literally falling apart, genuinely awful build quality and not what you expect of a shoe costing over £120 at the time of purchase. I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t buy another pair. I bought a pair of Meindl and they have been far, far superior.

Only reason I bought another pair is they are the only shoes that fit me right. well its been 6 months and they are already coming apart. every pair has done this for the last 6 years, were used very little due to winter. They are used for light hiking with my dog. I have a pair of keen winter boots that are 15 years old and still in decent shape, company has been using inferior glue for a long time, garbage company, buy something else

Very Disappointing Experience After Refund Voucher

I had hoped my initial issue with a defective pair of Keen shoes would be resolved smoothly after receiving a refund in the form of a voucher. Unfortunately, my subsequent experience has been incredibly frustrating.

On April 15th, I placed a new order using the voucher for a slightly cheaper model (Jasper) and a pair of sandals, paying additionally around €80. After nine days of complete silence, I had to reach out to customer support myself.

I was then informed that the sandals I ordered were no longer available. While they apologized, there was no proactive communication about this issue, and I was left without the sandals I wanted.

Even more concerning is the lack of clarity on when I can expect the rest of my order (the Jasper shoes) and how the refund for the unavailable sandals will be processed. It's been over two weeks since my order, and I'm left with no concrete information and feeling extremely disappointed with Keen's handling of this entire situation.

The initial refund was appreciated, but the subsequent lack of communication, the unavailability of ordered items, and the unclear refund process have completely eroded my trust in Keen's customer service. I would think twice before ordering from them again.

Garbage

Garbage, $172 of pure Garbage.
Please look at all the 388 trustpilot reviews; they get a 1.8 out of 5. Look at the reddit thread; “keen is a garbage company” under r/hiking. read sitejabber.com (they 1.3 stars out of 5). if you still need convincing try trailvistas.com “hint: they suck- trailvistas.”
Just Google “Keen shoes reviews” and you will see what the rest of the world says about the quality of the product they sell, how they stand by their warranty, how much they care about the people that buy their shoes and how they stand by the products they sell.
I had this pair of hiking boots that began to delam after 6 months when I started to glue the sole back onto the shoe. Please see attached 8 pics of the sole delamming from everywhere on the boot when I took them out of the closet for this summer. Take a look at the pics, see how much use is on the boot and how much the sole is just falling off the boot.
Make up your own mind, but they are Garbage, $172 of pure Garbage.

I've had two pairs of poorly made boots

I've had two pairs of hiking boots. The first split vertically at the instep and were replaced. The second pair fell to bits in 18 months. I have a pair of Keen sandals that I bought with the first boots. The stitching is poor, but I've glued the errant bits and I like walking in them in summer. I'd never buy Keen ever again.

KEEN walking shoes fall apart with appalling customer service team

I bought a pair of KEEN walking shoes less than a year ago and the soles literally are falling off and leaking water BUT this might sound crazy I bought second exact pair thinking it must have been a one off manufacturing issue but I was WRONG! The soles peeled off on this pair too. I contacted KEEN customer services but the "Head of Customer services" (Morgan no surname given on email or calls (refused)) was rude, condescending and basically said "not our problem" refusing to take ownership or acknowledgement and shifted the blame on the retailer (despite me sending several emails including photographic evidence of the recurring problems and timelines).

DO NOT BUY ANY KEEN SHOES THEY ARE POORLY MADE & NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE AND HAVE SHOCKINGLY POOR AFTER SALES SERVICE !!

Best fit ever for us.

I have purchased keen footwear for the first time this year Jan/2025 Ridge flex waterproof Hiking boots. Couldn't be more happy with that purchased, absolutely no problem with these boots. I walk EVERY single day 6 to 8 km and they are very comfortable and looking like they were purchased yesterday. Also purchase a pair for my wife,Revel III waterproof insulated non slip H/boots and they also are fantastic.
Super comfy and love the keen products that we also purchased different model since.
I recommend 5 stars.

Keen Targhee 111 are poor quality

I purchased my Keen Targhee 111 hiking boots 10 months ago and have used them for light dog walks; no rough terrain at all. Both boots split at the sides with the material coming away and they started to let in water if raining. These are not cheap boots so I returned them and the message I received from Keen was “dog walking is very harsh on footwear and the boots can only last for 1000 miles at the very most”. So with an average 3 mile dog walk a day they will only last you 10 months. I will never buy a Keen boot again.

Best Boots Walking Shoe and trekking sandals in the world

I have used Keen shoes for our Sandals Boots and Walking shoes for for more than 20 years without any problems . I recently had a issue with my Targee 2 walking shoes . Their response was was immediate and they sent me a new pair of shoes within a week .
This is the best and most professional response I have ever had from any supplier. I have always found KEEN foot ware manufactured to a very high standard and built to take the the knocks and bumps of any walking trails both in the UK and abroad .

DON'T BUY KEEN BOOTS - These boots are sold at a mid range…

These boots are sold at a mid range price, we paid £140 for ours.
My wife's pair split within about 10 miles off use.
Had them replaced under warranty.
Next pair split today, after maybe 15 miles use.
Don't know if they'll change them again.
They aren't made in America anymore, they're made in Vietnam.
Total ripoff. Garbage boots, don't waste your money and time.

Great Quality and Customer Service

I am a big guy, not fat, I am a weightlifter, and I love hiking. I used to blow out my hiking boots after a few months but since I went to Keen, they have been lasting a good life of 2 - 3 years. I bought a new pair this autumn and the clips started to rust. I took a picture and sent it to Keen and they sent me a new pair without hesitation. That is great customer service and dedicated to their warranty.

I should give them zero if it was a…

I should give them zero if it was a choice. I have been a faithful customer of Keen Targhee walking boots. My first pair bought Canada in 2017. They are still going strong! But the 2 pairs I bought in 2023 and 2024 have been a dismal experience. The sole came off, the sides cracked, the water was seeping … I am really disappointed the quality went down the drain. I like the fit very much. Very few walking boots are wide enough for me. I contacted the customer service trying to find out what materials they use. Got the answer - prime quality leather ! What a joke. The layer of supposedly leather is very thin, underneath just some synthetic material which doesn’t work. The cracks appeared just a few months of light use. The boots are made in India if it makes any difference? I don’t know. Luckily very good customer service at Tiso shop in Edinburgh took them back and out of good will issued a full refund. But it isn’t their responsibility. It is the manufacturer’s fault. I am very disappointed. Hope this will put off others form buying.

Impossible to get hold of

For Keen UK:
Shoes like fine but I had a question & their phonelines are constantly engaged over a number of days. This makes me wonder what happens if you need to make a claim? Will probably send items back as I've really lost faith in the company

Keen wearability

I bought my keen winter shoes last year and wore them for 5 months. I started wearing them again in November. They are holding up very well and are very comfortable.
