Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 105 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found customer service to be appalling and unresponsive, often struggling to get issues escalated or receive timely resolutions. Consumers frequently reported significant product defects and quality concerns, including critical component failures, manufacturing flaws, and issues with new vehicles. Reviewers also faced considerable frustration with the service process, encountering long waits for repairs, difficulties in diagnosing problems, and inconvenient dealership practices. However, some customers also noted positive interactions with staff at dealerships, describing them as professional, friendly, and very helpful. A few other people also felt that the cars themselves were good or even 'fab' when not experiencing mechanical or service-related problems.

Never buy a kia!!!!!

Never buy a kia. My car was in an accident end of 24 had to wait 9 weeks for repair when I got my car back (for an hr driving home) it was making a noise it was sent to kia who have stated i need a new turbo. I thought ok no problem under warranty. well the warranty stands for nothing they wanted me to prove all service history which i did they then wanted all the service history from before I owned the car again went off and got it then they wanted to know what oil had been used in all the services again I went off and done it got all the evidence they requested bar the very first service i have an invoice stating first yr service but they can't tell me what oil was used as they dont have it on the system the garage that done it is a kia approved garage so has a licence to sell kia products so on this basis kia as I cannot state what oil was used in 2019 they are refusing to pay I am still arguing with them 3.5 weeks later like I say I haven't had my car since December customer service, head office the branches none of them are intrested or willing to help. So i would avoid getting a kia at all cost total joke of a company.

Do not buy a Kia

Do not buy a Kia - their EV mileage is a gross overestimation (270 plus) when in fact you would be lucky to do more than 180 miles on motorways
Their software is at best primitive requiring resetting every few months as the app regularly does not recognise the owner and as a result function such as charging the vehicle cannot be performed
This makes this vehicle virtually redundant and something that Kia have failed to address
When trying to reset the app, the vehicle goes back to factory settings and the QR code you’re supposed to apply takes you nowhere
It is impossible to trickle charge it off the mains plug in an emergency and functions such as lane assist regularly fail to work
I am sure there are much better vehicles out there which are more reliable and the seven year so-called warranty has nothing to do with the app upon which the running and charging and safety of the vehicle relies
I bought mine (EV6) 18 months ago

7 years parts and labour warranty doesn't work!

My Kia Sportage broke down at the beginning of December 2024. It isn't drivable and I suspect the gearbox/clutch has gone. It was "repaired" in October 2024 - leaking fluid from gearbox.
My car (69 Reg covered by 7 years parts and labour) I paid to have it towed to the nearest Kia dealership and it was assessed at the end of January - said needs to be stripped down - possibly beginning of March - just been told now possibly the end of March.
Spoken to Kia - they really don't care and this 7 year parts and labour warranty is not worth the paper it's written on! They just don't have the infrastructure to implement this.
Do you think I'm being unreasonable being without my car for 4 months?

Kia UK spent 5 weeks trying to get out…

Kia UK spent 5 weeks trying to get out of repairing my car under the warranty with endless nonsense about why it doesn't qualify based on service history (and the process being mishandled by the local franchise garage) before conceding and fixing it at no cost to myself. No car for 5 weeks and many hours wasted for what was a simple claim. It appears they are set on declining warranty repairs on very dubious grounds. Would avoid owning a Kia as a result.

The Kia 7 year warranty is a con

Booked my Kia vehicle in for a fault for work under Kia’s 7 year warranty. Waited three weeks for an appointment. They kept the car all day and when I collected it, this garage had only investigated the fault and reported it to Kia to gain authority for it to be fixed under warranty. I literally told them what the fault was when I booked it in. I now have to take the car back to have the repair actually fixed.

The Kia 7 year warranty is misleading at best and just a way to convince people to buy a Kia who wouldn’t ordinarily buy one.

Kia Leicester Great Service

I own a 74 plate Kia Niro HEV. Best car I've had. For example I was away for 3 months and the car started after pressing the charge button first time. It drove like normal despite it being on the drive for 3 months. I can't fault the dealer either. Leicester Kia are very helpful so is the Loughborough branch. Staff are courteous and servicing was a good experience. There was an upgrade needed so they ordered the part and fitted it foc. I heard a noise in the back. They checked it out and told me that I had left the back seat partially unlocked. No fuss.

The car is great and the service is great too.

Warwick KIA - very unimpressive sales department

Our first foray into the world of Kia as looking to replace a Tesla with a new all-electric 7 seater, with the options being Kia EV9, Volvo EX90 and the Mercedes EQS for my wife which as you can appreciate is quite a broad price range and diverse selection of quality.

I popped in on my own earlier this week and had a good look at the EV9. Huge car, lots of things that my wife and kids would clearly like, well under budget at £83k fully spec'd.

Got the sales chap's email address whilst in the showroom and emailed later that day about test drive.

Popped in the following day with my wife for another look and was unable to get a test drive there and then due to lack of staff (the original chap was on a day off).

Got a reply to the test drive email the following day, with the main issue being that one cannot actually get a test drive that isn't a trip around the block because they only have the showroom car.

Not a good start when spending £80k plus and we have never not managed to get either a few hours or an overnighter with any other brand on vehicles costing less and more.

Emailed back yesterday asking about test drive availability for this weekend but got no reply, so popped in to the dealership today with the kids for another look (and not expecting a test drive).

We spent a fair while looking at the vehicle, with no approach from a member of staff, and then whilst my kids were barely out of it and stood at the rear with my wife (I was unaware and thought they were still in it), a chap came over to the vehicle, told me that the sales guy I had spoken to was in that day, and promptly drove the vehicle out of the showroom to park it outside, leaving my two kids staring at it as it left the showroom with a picture of disbelief on their faces.

So impolite and uninterested, but I think that's basically the overall impression we have gleaned from this dealership.

We decided to leave at that point with a view to visiting another KIA dealership from a different group.

Got an email later that day from the original sales guy stating that my latest email reply to him requesting a test drive had gone into his spam. Of course.

A disappointing experience and it seems that having a vehicle worth close to £80k in their line-up has made them think they are a Range Rover dealership.

Purchasing from Kia Romford ? Please read this!

I purchased a 2023 Kia Sportage GT line hybrid from Kia Glyn Hopkins Romford and was very disappointed with the lack of after service once purchased (in full).

I did notice when I test drove the vehicle a week before its purchase that the wash wipe was not working and was told by the sales representative that the bottle was probably empty and to be honest I thought the same as he did.

It was agreed that they would put a new set of Kia mats in the vehicle and also repair the plastic inner boot lining (sides) that were scratched.
I was told a repair was to be done however the person who they get in to do this was on holiday and so I was told that because of this they were going to replace them.
This fix apparently would involve a bit of work including removing the rear speakers, or so I was told. Before purchasing I did my own vehicle check and found out that the vehicle actually belonged to LOMBARD FINANCE!

Apparently this is not unusual for main dealers to do this and Kia Romford or Glyn Hopkins use this particular company to finance all the used cars on the forecourt and pay Lombard for the vehicle once you pay them. So as I have stated this is not unusual practice but you have to ask yourself what happens if there is suddenly a problem with the Franchise (Kia Romford) ? Are there any safeguards in place to protect the customer?
I made sure that part of my payment was by credit card and over £100 so was then covered by section 75 of your credit card unlike your debit card!
Anyway the sale went ahead and the car was delivered on a Saturday morning. I was very pleased with my purchase but this is when
the after sales service started deteriorated.

The first thing i noticed was the inner boot lining had not been repaired and was told the service department had the part's and if i took it back to them from Kent to Essex it would be done. I do not understand why it had not been repaired and assumed it would have been done before delivery.
After a couple of days using the vehicle I then noticed the wash wipe was still did not working.
I looked at the check sheet that came with the vehicle which had a huge amount of checks that stated these had indeed been checked and were good.
The fact that they had obviously not been checked then made that check list with all the checks on it which were all stated good, totally irrelevant as if they hadn't actually checked the wash wipers what else have they not checked??

I then had a problem with the indicators so I rang the sales representative twice but no reply. I then emailed a couple of times and finally had a reply stating their service department would contact me to address the issues. No contact was made so I sent an email again asking them to hurry up the service department in contacting me but once again nothing! So not wanting to drive around with these faults I contacted my local Kia and booked it in for them to repair under warranty which was done quickly and without fuss.
The boot liner is still the same and I have decided to live with it as I am certainly not delivering it back from Kent to Romford Essex for them to do something that should have been completed before delivery as agreed.

One last thing which shows lack of being a professional company is that it was not delivered on trade plates so a charge was incurred for the toll on the Dartford river crossing. Luckily a called Kia Romford to check if they had used trade plates and was informed they hadn't so as the vehicle was in my name I had to pay the small charge. Unluckily forgot and despite paying seven hours late I then received a penalty notice!

I checked the reviews for Kia Romford and have to admit most are very good. My review however is honest and based solely on my personal experience.

I took my car for 2nd year servicing…

I took my car for 2nd year servicing last week and I must say the whole team were so lovely and professional. Everything was explained to me at the beginning and they even called me when my car was ready .
The only issue. I have is that there is a fault on my display box that I told them about this .And this was identified and confirmed by Kia during servicing too .
I have been told to send a picture of evidence when the problem reoccur . I have 7 yrs warranty on that car and because it’s expensive to replace it .
I find this unreasonable and unacceptable.
I like to say a big thank you to the receptionist Kriely for her good customer service .

KIA UK Warranty Issues / Work etc.

During a 2 year + journey of warranty issues on my KIA Soul, I found KIA UK to be at best adequate and at worst obstructive.
It was a constant battle to try and get the warranty work done properly, at KIA UK's authorised dealerships in Swindon and Chippenham.
One issue involved me having to return to the dealership 5 times, before the warranty issue was resolved satisfactorily.
On one occasion, I was told that hundreds of pounds of preliminary work had to be carried out, at my expense, before the suspected warranty fault work could be carried out.
This review is badged KIA UK, but should be read as both KIA UK and their dealerships local to me.
Also, in my opinion, there isn't enough KIA dealerships in the UK
Supplementary -
On 1st February 2025 I copied / pasted my Trustpilot review, and emailed it directly to the CEO of KIA UK
As at 10th February 2025, He and or his office has not responded to me!
The warranty problems on my KIA Soul remain, and my only course of action now, is to get them repaired at my own cost.

SO here's the thing

SO here's the thing. I love my EV9. IT's fantastic and a great replacement for my X. However, at Reading Waylands Kia I've had a rotten experience with a tow bar install and side steps install. I dropped the car off (I'd been planning to stay) for the 2:30 projected work. Actually it was going to be at least 5 hours. Ok no problem. I went away into Reading to kill time came back at 3 and they 1) Had ordered in the wrong side steps 2) the tow bar was on back order and they didnt even have it there! Complete waste of a day they didnt apologise (ero customer service skills) and they didnt tell me when I dropped the car off they didnt have the part??! How crazy is that. Absolute disappointment.

Not worth buying a kia for the seven…

Not worth buying a kia for the seven year warranty as the waiting times in the garage are so long .
Had lots of issues with my kia stonic but as I need the car fixing as soon as possible it is more cost effective to pay for a mechanic that is able to fix ASAP.
Unlikely to buy another kia

I contacted Kia Customer Service after an uncorrected fault reoccurred

I contacted Kia Customer Service after having an issue with the dealer who was supposed to repair a problem with the gearbox/clutch on my 21 plate Kia Sportage. I only wish there was a zero stars option.

My 21 plate Kia Sportage broke down and on contacting Wessex Kia Bristol with details of the issue it was agreed that the garage would accept the car, even though they did not have a free slot available to repair it for at least 2 weeks. At this point I was quite optimistic and pleased that they were assisting me with this warranty issue. When, after a month, the car was returned to me the reported issue had in fact not been corrected, but a different, new issue had been found and I was told that this was the only problem the car had and that it had been dealt with. When I expressed my concerns that the original problem had not been addressed, they were dismissed, as "there were no issues with the clutch" and therefore "it did not need to be checked".

At this point I contacted Kia Customer Service and was told that "the dealer know what they are doing, they have corrected the issue that was found and that is an end to it."

Unsurprisingly, my car broke down again in exactly the same way, as the original issue with the clutch had not been resolved. After contacting Wessex Kia Bristol there was absolutely no urgency on their part to have the car brought back to them to deal with the problem. So, given their dismissive attitude, I arranged for it to be sent to Howards Kia in Weston-Super-Mare. They not only managed to get the car back to me more quickly than originally quoted, but they also listened to my description of the fault, investigated it, found the problem and replaced the part. The part that was replaced was a leaking cylinder that controls the clutch, exactly as described to Wessex Kia Bristol.

I contacted Kia Customer Services again to complain, because if the original fault that I had described had been correctly investigated and dealt with, I would not have had to pay for a second breakdown truck and hire a car for 2 weeks. They told they had contacted Wessex Kia and they had told them that at the time of the original issue I had not reported that the problem was with the gearbox and/or clutch. That statement by the dealer was a lie. I told them on at least 3 occasions about the fault that had happened, and I had mentioned the issue to Kia Customer Service during my first conversation with them. However Customer Service are clearly not there for the Kia customer, but to support anything the dealer says.

There was no attempt by Kia Customer Services to find out any further details, such as when I had spoken to the dealer or called Customer Services (the first time) which would have enabled them to investigate further by locating those telephone calls that we are told are being recorded.

The upshot is, I'm selling my now repaired Kia and I won't ever purchase another Kia again. I'll also relate this awful experience to anyone who mentions they might be thinking of purchasing a Kia, so that they can be aware of the issues they might face.

Very Disappointing Experience with…

Very Disappointing Experience with JTC600 - Castleford Branch

I bought a brand-new KIA from JTC600 Castleford, and after less than 18 months and 28,000 miles, the car broke down. Despite paying for the best warranty package, they’re refusing to cover the repairs, claiming the clutch and flywheel aren’t included, though the warranty clearly covers the flywheel.

On top of that, I’ve been left without a courtesy car, causing me to miss work as an NHS nurse. I’ve been quoted up to £2,000 for repairs, but the cost breakdown is unclear. When I asked for documentation from previous visits, I was told there’s no record of my car being checked, despite reporting similar issues early on.

Throughout this process, the staff have been rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, offering no support at all. The lack of professionalism has been incredibly frustrating, and I am now taking further action as Kia have refused to help support me through any of the above issues.

Kia Sportage Faulty DPF

I had to wait 5 weeks to get my car at into Vertu Kia Nottingham. The engine management light came on with fault P2003. I dropped it off Tuesday 7th January and they still have it. Because I chose an external garage to service the car, they wanted a copy of the invoice to see what engine oil was used. It appears to me Kia are trying their best to worm their way out of covering the faulty DPF on warranty. I have received appalling customer service from both Vertu & Kia. Never buy a Kia, worse car company ever.

Kia picanto on warranty but Kia refused to repair issues (blocked winshield liquid, flat battery). Car started has now water ingress due to bad insulation affecting electric components and they cannot confirm if it is covered on warranty, have to wait up to week as no availability on closer Kia garage. Don't expect a courtesy car either (AA recommended in writing to be repaired inmediately).

Kia withholding vehicles

I ordered a Kia Sportage at the start of August 2024 and was advised that it would be delivered in October. October came with no updates. After chasing, it got pushed to November, then December… my recent call revealed that the car is ready but they refuse to register it before the new year with the emissions excuse which they clearly would have been aware of prior to this, either that or they want to boost their 2025 sales figures, either way, they are withholding the car.
When I stated that I wanted to cancel my order, they threatened me with keeping my deposit. I wish I hasn’t ordered from them.. they’ve been absolutely awful at keeping me informed (they actually haven’t contacted me once) and they have terrible customer service skills.

My Kia EV6 during the first 18 months…

My Kia EV6 during the first 18 months of its life has been into Westdrive Kia three times due to breakdowns caused by the car failing to charge the small 12v battery from the large battery which powers the car. This is a widely known fault on many Kia's which Kia are remedying on some newer models by installing a prominent "12v Battery Reset" button on the dashboard. Kia Westrdrive currently refuse to attend the vehicle when the battery goes flat and state simply that the fault is not present after it has been recharged and taken into them for inspection. I suppose it's not their fault if Kia are refusing to admit the problem. However, I spoke to Kia customer service yesterday and they seem a) fully aware of the problem, b) prepared to admit the problem at long last, c) prepared to admit how dangerous it is for the car to break down in this way, d) unwilling to offer any sensible solution and e) quite prepared to pass the buck back to their dealerships.
