Scammer and fraud enablers
Will never use it again, tried 2 times and was completely fooled. You can find the products at half price already built and with shipping in a few days. Don't give them your money
Backed an EEG project by IBand Plus
Backed an EEG project by IBand Plus, a decade later, no response from the creators. Kickstarter did nothing to curb such scams.
Scam
Scam. Signed up for one of the project... Got a few updates but seems to be all fake... Received nothing
Scammer enablers
They don’t care about their customers. If a project creator decides to scam you - which happens often - kickstarter will not do a thing about it. I would suggest not supporting this business at all.
Another scam similar to indiegogo
Another scam similar to indiegogo, products never arrive and no refund guarantee
Really unprofessional.
Really unprofessional.
I am fed up with their horrible treatment to supporters. I started a project and had a question regarding if I could divide my project into two separate funds so I could fund a more professional campaign to see if my project is possible etc.
So after a week of waiting I’m told no, because even though I say both in the title and in the description that this is phase 1 and even if it raises what we need the project could still fail for “supporter clarity” so I write back on a ticket that is still open explaining how I would make sure that the supporter would be aware. I never got a reply.
Then, after I submitted my proposal for the project I’m told that “I can’t make a project purely to raise funds”
Then what is this website for?
I’m already prioritizing the happiness of the supporters giving them 90% off my project.
What else do they want me to do? Kiss them in the ass? They behave like a charity, even though they are not one.
I wrote an email explaining that over a week ago and they still didn’t respond.
Project Drinkie NEO
Project Drinkie NEO. An USA-based scammer scammed thousands of honest supporters, but the origins are not confirmed. After 2 years of continuous updates of issues with the project, false promises and keeping people's hopes up, it failed. Now the same tactic is used for the so-called return of money to funders, false promises, etc. Kickstarter is nowhere to be seen to take responsibility or even initiate legal action against the project owner! Never going to use them to support anyone, as most projects seem to be scams to defraud people! I would warn anyone against using this unregulated online platform. They will be reported to the US federal agencies for investigation.
Place where scammers thrive...
This site does not take any position on its so-called customers. The Kuura ring is a good example. The price changed when deliveries were supposed to start. There was no mention of this at the time of pre-order. The project collected +300.000 $ with no intentions of delivering the product, because no one is responsible for that. Sadly, many kickstarters need to investigate this with local authorities...
It's just a website to list scams and commit fraud. 10/10 if you are an actual criminal
KickStarter used to be a great site, but now they've degenerated into a platform to profit off fraud. They have no enforcement to counter scams, they actively update their guidelines to insulate themselves from the consequences of taking part in fraud, while profiting from it.
It's a disgusting website that should absolutely be shut down and the owners prosecuted.
Run, avoid, hide under a rock if you can. But don't use Kickstarter.
Scam hosts!
Scam hosts. Kickstarter does not vet projects, so scammers collect your money and run. Kickstarter provides no help and doesn’t care. I won’t use this site ever again and would discourage anyone else from making the same mistake.
Too much of a high risk and no customer…
Too much of a high risk and no customer assistance at all. Too many rules but none to protect investors.
Just an all around awful experience
Just an all around awful experience. I will never ever support another Kickstarter. This company blatantly lies to backers and behaves very unprofessional when you call them out on it. Stay far away.
There is a high chance of losing money…
There is a high chance of losing money through this site and the site does not take any position on its so-called customers. The Kuura ring is a good example. The price changed when deliveries were supposed to start. There was no mention of this at the time of pre-order. When I tried to clarify the matter with Kickstarter, I did not get any response. And no money back either. The credit card company is currently investigating the matter.
Awful feedback from Kickstarter about…
Awful feedback from Kickstarter about delays and shipping.
They obviously don't care about customers once the money is in the bank.
Some nice ideas on there but a huge risk.
Basically platform for scammers
Basically platform for scammers. They don't help you in anyway to get your money back when it's obvious you have been scammed so they're as bad as the scammers me thinks
Beyond Bad
Beyond Bad - they are as useful as a chocolate teapot.
No delivery from a creator?
Tough, you are on your own.
Creator disappeared. Asked KS for help. They gave me the finger.
$200,000 invested from thousands of backers in the Tempo-Flow clock. Creator disappears without a trace. not a single updates.
Asked Kickstarter for help. They made no attempt to do so. Ask if they were working with the authorities. They gave me the finger.
Scams and no support
Kickstarter should be avoided. They enable and profit from scams without any support for their customers. £100's spent on a product I'll never receive. Kickstarter do remind you it's 'not a store' but it is in fact a scam.
Scammers breeding ground.
Kickstarter started with a noble purpose: to bring innovative ideas to life. However, it’s become a breeding ground for scams, leaving backers unprotected when creators disappear—something that happens far too often. Kickstarter offers no recourse for backers if a project creator disappears and the project falls through. KS puts all responsibility on us to vet project creators. Despite my best efforts, three out of my last seven backed projects turned out to be scams. Where does my money go? Some to Kickstarter, some to the project creators, and nothing back to me.
It would be a huge step forward if Kickstarter offered some kind of insurance policy to protect backers from these scams. Until there’s a change to help those who are defrauded, I’m done with Kickstarter. To the legitimate creators out there, I’m sorry—it’s only going to get tougher for you on this platform.
Scam, stay away.
My Son is a keen Stellaris player. He wanted the Stellaris board game for his birthday so I pledged $250 in 2022. Two and a half years later we've had and heard nothing. I know there is always a risk with startups, however there has been zero communications on any progress or explanations for the delay. I think now that it's just a scam and kickstarter are complicit in these scams for their share by demonstrating zero oversight and accountability.
