Eyes

I felt very welcome and very well treated. I suffer from severe white coat syndrome and the nurse was very kind and understanding and tried her best to put me at ease.

Not a '5 star experience' at KPH

Arrived to find the carpark was a 10 minute walk away from the hospital, which considering the purpose of my appointment wasn't great.
When I arrived at reception there was no welcome or 'good morning' from the receptionist, I was just hit with a number of personal questions, in earshot of other patients and members of staff.
I was advised my appointment was at 9am so made sure I was there in the waiting room for 8:50am and I was not called by the consultant until 9:17am which I think is really poor. Would you wait for me if I was late by 17 minutes? Definitely not the '5 star treatment' that was advised on the screen in the waiting room.

Good Result

My TKR went without complications. The operation went smoothly, the aftercare was as planned. The main secret is being consistent with exercises. The twelve week follow up went smoothly and Mr McMahon was pleased with my recovery.

What a let down that was :(

My first experience of Kingsbridge is one to forget. I attended a pre-op assessment on Friday 21st August 2026. The doctor was, or should already have been, aware that I have a condition called Malignant Hyperpyrexia, as I had advised Mr Yousaf of this on my previous visit.

50 years ago, in 1976, I had my appendix out. I had not officially been diagnosed with MH, but the doctors were aware of a family history. They therefore gave me an epidural prior to the operation, which went ahead successfully. In 2004 I had my gallbladder removed, and again the doctors managed this operation without any difficulties. Now, in 2026, I find Dr Gormley and an anaesthetist called Usman (don't know his surname), who works with Mr Yousaf, both feel it's too dangerous to proceed with a hernia operation in my stomach. So much for medicine moving forward throughout time, in this case it has gone backwards! I was dumbfounded that this was the outcome.

Is there any point in me asking to see another Consultant to see if his Anaesthetist would be prepared to deal with me? I was initially given 3 Consultants names by Benenden Health, Mr Damian McKay and Mr Kourosh Khosraviani were the other 2. I'd be happy to see either of them. Please respond.

Gynae Consultant

Friendly welcome from entering the facility. Saw Dr McIllwaine on time. Very professional and friendly. Answered all my questions and then sent me straight through to nurses for bloods. Very smooth service.
Would highly recommend Dr McIllwaine, Gynae Consultant!

No response to calls

I had an Urology appointment with Professor Ian Walshe on Thursday 13thAugust 2026 and after consultation he advised that I have a further examination and that I would be notified the following day of the date and time by the person doing the procedure. Today is the 24th August and despite several phone calls to Hospital I have not heard anything positive on appointment except that Hospital is very busy and staff are not at station on particular days. Ido not think this is an acceptable manner to treat an 83 year old person.

Cataract Surgery

I had a very successful visit to Kingsbridge. I was treated with the utmost care and kindness by all the staff who looked after me.
The surgery performed by Mr Chan was amazing! I felt no pain either during the procedure or since and my vision has improved enormously. I’m eagerly looking forward to having my other eye done. Thank you all.21
