Poor customer service

Disappointed with their attitude. We bought our KMix Kettle (£50) from kitchen science. The kettle was fine until two weeks past the one year point. Took 15 minutes to get through on the phone. As we were out of one year manufacturer warranty were totally and utterley uninterested in offering any type of help. They said I had to pay engineer to inspect the kettle and provide a report before they would consider replacement. They would not consider repair. I asked if they would offer me any money off purchaisng another kettle as I now had to buy another one and surely they would prefer this new custom (they hadnt been out of pocket in any way but now infact stood to gain even further) - they werent prepared to offer even a penny off a new kettle. I dont think a £50 kettle should break that quickly and they could take this up with kenwood but refused.

very poor serivce, and delievery

Here was my letter to them:

To Whom It May Concern

I am writing to complain about the awful service received by your company regarding the delivery and installation of our washing machine.

We bought a washer/dryer to be delivered, connected, and the old appliance disconnected and removed on the 27th June, but when your delivery man arrived he pulled the old appliance out and decided he couldn't remove it from the socket because it was wired in. The reason he gave was that he "just couldn't do it". He left abruptly leaving two machines inconveniently placed blocking the entrance to the kitchen. Fine we thought, we can get someone else to disconnect, however, when our man came to do this, as he was about to pull the machine out the pipe burst and hot water spurted out relentlessly causing a mayhem and burning the person trying to help. Flooded the entire place, carpets and the wall.

We later found out that your original delivery person had known he had broken something and thought best to exit the flat before anyone finds out that he had done damage that could be related to him.

We still had two machines with the old one still unwired from the wall and decided to re-arranged another removal from the same company, but this time call an electrician to be there at the same as we expected that they were not skilled delivery /removal people from Kitchen Science. This is where your poor service further showed no signs of stopping. I re-arranged a delivery on the 1st of July (Sunday) between 8am 12pm. No one arrived and my tenant wasted a whole morning and so did our electrician on standby. When I called on that Sunday and spoke to Paul in customer service, he simply said there was no re-collection of such an appointment. As you can imagine I was pretty fuming by now. Another appointment was made for the following day.

The following day, the removal man came up at 9:45am and removed the old appliance without a hitch. He was so efficient that it took him 10mins to unwire the machine. We thought it a good idea to ask him promptly to connect the new appliance which we would happily pay him for, in which case he answered "I can't do this even if you offered me a £100, because I am not insured", and left abruptly. I then called Kitchen Science and spoke to Karl. Karl told me that is the case, because he was not insured to do so and if I wanted to re-connect it would cost us further.

This is a total shambles from start to finish. We don't understand why one person can efficiently disconnect a machine and another can't, and when they can dis-connect they can't connect. Your company is a complete joke. Service is minus 10. Not only there was no compensation, there was no apology and no sympathy.

I think Kitchen Science is simply an online agency for manufacturers with no realistic powers to deal with connecting appliance and no re-compense power to satisfy unhappy customers. You should give this business up right away and shall make sure that you do not get away lightly with what you have done.

DANGEROUS COOKER, USELESS CUSTOMER SERVICES

I bought a Hotpoint hug61k gas cooker, for over four hundred pounds, from Kitchen science six months ago and after feeling sick and drowsy for a few days a gas safe engineer tested the appliance to show it is releasing dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide emissions, over double the safe maximum, he immediately capped the gas supply to the cooker off.

Kitchen science has told me they do not need to do anything in a rush as they have twenty eight days by rights. I have been left with no cooker and no apology for polluting the lungs of me and my asthmatic three year old son. Not to mention the appliance has put our lives at risk and has already had a negative effect on our health. They told me "if I like I can call my solicitor because they are doing nothing wrong... I have my rights and they have theirs"

If you are planning to purchase anything from Kitchen science be prepared to work with a wholly unhelpful customer service team should anything go wrong. Also I bought my cooker new and had it fitted by Kitchen science on delivery I would not expect this type of attitude when I report to them that the appliance is dangerous. I bought three appliances from them and now I am in fear of what may go wrong next will not buy from here again and would certainly not recommend it.

Hotpoint DH53K

Oven delivered today as planned and within stated times.

House situated in a rural area in Scotland, on a private, rough, road, that van could not get up. Cheerful delivery team found house, and delivered oven with no problems (having to use their trolly to get it up our road).

I had spent many days online checking companies and reading all the reviews before saying to myself, I will just have to pick one. Glad I picked Kitchen Science. Many thanks for a problem free delivery, which is unusual in this area.

Spot on

Saved over £100 on the prices quoted from Comet and the items turned up as stated and they even called to say they were 40 minutes away!

Good service!

Poor Customer Service - Even worse order fulfilment..!!!

Do not order from this company.

I ordered a Gas Cooker based on the fact they gave delivery date of within 4 days of purchase. Not only did it turn out they did not have the stock of the item - it took me to phone them on day of delivery to find that information out..!!! Also gave a further x2 dates that they did not fulfill. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but having paid the money and being given what I felt were genuine "reasons" I stayed with it. Unfortunately it took 24days for them to deliver my Cooker. No compensation was offered - They continually passed the blame onto suppliers. Totally false promises. Simply not worth it - regardless of savings.!!

Well Pleased !

we needed to purchase a new washing machine and had started looking at high street stores etc. We made up our minds that we wanted the HOTPOINT WMUD942P and therefore searched online for the best deal which by over a £100 saving from a highstreet store price and free delivery was by far the best deal by KitchenScience. Order process was a doddle opting for the 7 day free delivery service. The product turned up on schedule yesterday so absolutely delighted with every aspect of the purchase. As far as I am concerned High street stores are only good enough anymore just for browsing. If you want a fair deal then why go anywhere else but online to buy and with Kitchen Science you can buy with confidence.

Very Impressed!

I had a failing two door fridge/freezer in a holiday home and suffered the problem of the fridge being too small and the freezer being very little used. I needed a replacement that gave me more fridge and less freezer space and found the Proline PF200W. It was the only one I could find that suited my requirements and fitted into the tight space available. Having read reviews on other suppliers I chose Kitchen Science as being what appeared to be the best of a bad bunch! I placed my order very easily and requested the first available free delivery date. Due to previous reviews, I expected this to be the problem area so I phoned them at 9 a.m. that morning and was told by a very helpful gentleman that that the item was on the van and that it was due for an early delivery. He also said that I would receive a call from the driver one hour before delivery. It all went exactly as he said - I received the driver's call and the fridge was delivered later that morning. Packaging was excellent and the item was received in perfect condition and in perfect working order. I really can't fault Kitchen Science - the whole process was very simple and 100% efficient - they deserve a 5 star review.

As for the Proline PF200W it is perfect for what I wanted. It is a bit noisy with strange strangulated sounds at times but for the price it is fine. The fridge is a good size and the small freezer box perfectly adequate for a few items. It is not the best quality but for the price you wouldn't expect it to be. My only complaint is that there is very little adjustment on the front feet - not sufficient for an uneven floor without a bit of packing!

All in all it's a decent product and I bought it through what I found to be a very efficient supplier and at a very good price.

Do not buy from this company

Absolutely shocking customer service, we ordered a Bosch washing machine for delivery 3 days later, no time given so had to arrange to be in all day and plan nothing else; they rang at 12 to say there had been a problem with their stock system and the item ordered was faulty but they would be able to get another one delivered in 10 days time!!! As we have two young children and no washing machine this was a no go and we would have purchased from elsewhere if we knew that they couldn't meet the order; subsequently other suppliers had run out of stock, removed their discounts or couldn't now meet the required ever shortening delivery time so we had to order a similar model at a higher cost; all of this was related to Kitchenscience to seek some kind of compensation for the gross inconvenience and additional cost but let's just say they dismissed it out of hand.....do not buy from these charlatans.

Untrustworthy company

I ordered a Dyson heater from Kitchen Science on 19th December and paid a premium to ensure delivery before Christmas. I was given a delivery date of 22nd December via ParcelForce, but it didn't turn up. It still hasn't arrived by now (10th January), and after many communications with them, they are no longer replying to me. I did try to cancel, but they said that it couldn't be cancelled as it was in transit.

Sold me faulty item then ignored me!

I bought a Morphy Richards kettle from this company and then when it started leaking after using it for a week, I emailed Kitchen Science for help and advice on how to get a replacement... and guess what, they just ignored me! Now that's what you call customer service, NOT! Essentially they sold me an item that was not fit for purpose.

Do not order from this company.

I ordered a cooker using the premium service so we could cook in our new house. The earliest connection date was around 8 days after my order. I waited in most of the day before getting a phone call informing me the cooker wouldn't be delivered. The company had known about this since the morning yet allowed me to sit in waiting most of the day. 3 days later the exact thing happened again with no explanation. I cancelled my order, what a complete shambles.

Excellent!

I ordered a Hotpoint tumble dryer, it was far cheaper than any other company online (discount codes are available on the net too). It was delivered in perfect condition, unwrapped & plugged straight in for me. Delivery guys called me 45 mins in advance to confirm delivery.
Great prices, no fuss service. Think the bad reviews for this company are generic ones that any company could fall foul of & down to bad luck on the day. One to be trusted!

Perfect and cheap

£92 cheaper than Comet for a larder fridge. Online ordering a doddle. Selected delivery date and paid. Fridge arrived on time. Good comms, they telephoned on delivery day to say they would be here within 2 hours and they were. 2 year guarantee with fridge in today's world, so happy bunny all round. Would highly recommend Kitchen Science.

'A fault in the system'

Excellent price and excellent call centre staff BUT due to a ‘fault in the system’ the delivery date was not the same as the one on the e-mail sent to me. If using Kitchen science ring and confirm the delivery date and check who the carrier is. If they are using Parcelforce no need to wait in
