The app didn’t really work as intended when used for picking up the student packet (the pickup confirmation disappeared too quickly).
Initially, I saw some interesting discounts. However, now when I’m entering the site, nothing shows up (maybe something lagged again).

Good student discounts
I drink a lot of coffee and I am using their starbucks discounts almost daily. It really helps, 20% discount. Also their student box that I received before christmas was good.

Hi Amir, yes exactly, if you’re in the city centre, just open the Knaekapp and use location services to quickly spot deals near you! Also, don’t forget to save your favourite spots in the app, you’ll get a notification when they drop a new deal. If you like shopping in the city center, this is definitely a win!
I was using the app until I've suddenly…
I was using the app until I've suddenly got charged 30 Euro, even though I canceled my subscription. It was okay the first year but then all my savings went in vain. They also charged me additional 7 euros for the months I used after I canceled my subscription.
I've also written this review before but seems that they also delete the reviews.

Let’s clarify things. You registered yourself on 28-09-2023 via our website. During sign-up, it clearly stated: “Try Knaek for free until 31 July 2024. After that €30 per academic year (can be cancelled monthly).” You also accepted the Terms and Conditions, which explain that membership continues automatically unless cancelled, something you can do at any time with 30 days’ notice.
Your full membership for 2024–2025 started on 01-08-2024. You only cancelled on 27-08-2025, meaning your 2025–2026 membership had already started on 01-08-2025. The €4.60 you were charged was for those 27 days of active use, not an “extra” or hidden fee.
What’s really disappointing is that you never contacted us, but instead posted a misleading review. That’s unfair to us, and honestly to other students who do use Knaek to save money. You weren’t tricked, you simply didn’t take responsibility to cancel on time.
That said, we’re open to improving. If there was something unclear in the sign-up process, we’d really appreciate knowing what exactly was confusing to you. Contact us on info@knaek.nl
Great way to save on my daily
I’ve been using Knaek’s student discount for Starbucks and it’s been a game-changer for my budget. I have found the APP through one of my friends studying in Rotterdam, telling me they offer discounts on el. scooters and such + a few options like McDonalds.
Seemed OK. I registered, put the free trial on, I felt dissapointed with the App so I unsubscribed when I left Rotterdam.
After one year, specifically on August 1th 2023 there was a MASS renewal of subscription, also for my friends, and they started demanding money in 2025! I saw that they tried to get the money from my account via "Future regular payments", it is a term and condition you accept when you register with them - you basically let them test your card and immediately put there a future payment order that you will miss because it is only once a year.
Absolutely horrible.
I refuse to pay for something I did not use, I wasn´t even student. I unsubscibed and yet I got it renewed by them.

Groceries have gotten so expensive lately, but thanks to Knaek I’ve saved a lot already and PLUS is a great quality supermarket, so it’s nice not having to compromise. I am super dissatisfied about this App. First of all i was charged 30 euro for not even using that app and for not even sending an email saying "hey you might forgot but Knaek is free only first year" Why should they send such email when they can actually just continue it and charge 30 euro. After i payed 30 euro and cancelled my subscription i then i was charged 8.47 because there is 30 days notice period. What a bullshit! I see they compare themselves with Netflix where you have this notice period. But come on this is niether Spotify niether Netflix niether one of those well known subscription based platforms. Instead you can easily make it similar to Social deals so people that actually use the deals pays for the stupid subscription.

You’ve created multiple accounts in the past and made use of the free first-year offer more than once. That’s totally fine, but it also shows that you were familiar with how the Knaek membership works.
You signed up through our website, where it’s clearly stated that the membership continues automatically each college year until cancelled. You cancelled on 14-10-2025, so a 30-day notice period applied – just like with Netflix or Spotify. That’s where the final €8.47 came from.
Janin, be honest with yourself, you knew how it worked. We aim to keep Knaek simple and fair: no high commissions for stores, and students save as much as they want by using the app. If you don’t use it, you can always cancel, but the terms are clear from the start.

This app is such a nasty SCAM, when you first download the app, you can activate your account for ‘free’, but without you realising they actually start a subscription and make you pay 30 euro every year. I also started a subscription a year ago and they took 30euro from me, now that I realised I cancelled my subscription and even now they stole my money by asking almost 8euro to simply cancel my subscription. This app is so full of shit, they claim to ‘help’ students by giving them crappy coupon codes (half of them don’t even work) and then they just steal our money!!

Kort wat uitleg over hoe het meestal werkt: studenten krijgen het eerste jaar gratis als ze zich via de daarvoor geldende actie aanmelden. Het betaalde lidmaatschap bedraagt €30 per jaar en wordt doorgaans pas geïnd nadat het gratis jaar voorbij is, zodat we zeker weten dat er een volledig jaar lidmaatschap heeft plaatsgevonden. Soms kan er een klein bedrag of verrekening ontstaan bij vroegtijdig opzeggen of aanpassingen, dat hangt af van de specifieke situatie en de toepasselijke voorwaarden. Cashback is nooit gegarandeerd en valt onder de geldende voorwaarden.
Nogmaals: het is nooit onze bedoeling iemand op te lichten, we zijn er om studenten voordeel te geven en we sponsoren studentenverenigingen en locaties om dat mogelijk te maken. Stuur ons alsjeblieft een e-mail naar het juiste adres met je gegevens, dan kijken we er direct naar en lossen we het samen op.

According to our records, you signed up for Knaek on 23-11-2022 and only cancelled on 01-09-2025. We didn’t force you to join, the registration was completed by you, most likely during a student promotion where the first year is free. After that, the membership automatically continues for €30 per year, as explained in the terms.
We haven’t heard from you via Trustpilot or email, so it’s hard for us to know what you expected or what went wrong. Our goal is to help students save money, not create confusion.
If the membership no longer suits you, that’s totally okay, but it’s up to you to cancel in time.
