I used the pools for swimming laps in the Long Beach CA area. But it is very hard to swim laps. People go from the Sauna to the jacuzzi to the pool…..more like a hotel pool….never showering in betw... See more

I only try this club in Downey- as for me it's okey
LA Fitness personal training is…
LA Fitness personal training is terrible. I highly recommend you not to sign up they make sign a contract for a year and you cant cancel regardless of if you use the sessions they will continue charging after your contract date if you can't come in person to cancel, on top of that they can't issue any refunds if you can't come in person to cancel and all the sessions you paid for will expire in 30 days once you cancel the training too. The customer service is also terrible I had to call and email multiple times with promises or calls back and getting the matter resolved. Today I finally was able to cancel after being charged for two additional months, I can't get a refund because I couldn't cancel in person and all the sessions I paid for are only valid for 30 days. Terrible experience and as veteran, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

LA fitness downey is normal room - nothing special. Could do better for the money! one thing pleases - the staff is friendly
La fitness denton Texas…
La fitness denton Texas…. As a day one member I’ve frequented the rball courts and built the morning group of players including bringing in two grandsons personally supervised by me in the court…. Today they said no to the young one who is 9 and played here for more than a year…. He cried…. I’m done…. Worst marketing decision ever!!
La fitness in Lake Grove is one of the…
La fitness in Lake Grove is one of the worst gyms I've ever been to. It is incredibly poorly maintained. It's absolutely filthy and the staff does nothing about it. The weights don't match, they are all over the place, the equipment is old and often broken. I'm a long time member at the port jeff Station location. It's by no means a great facility. Though compared to the lake Grove NY location ots spotless. I cant get over how no one picks up the empty watch bottles all over the floor. No one puts weights back in the racks. I've never once seen an employee on the gym floor. It's a disgrace!

Sandy on 10th is the Lady to see when starting a summer bootcamp!
Good fitness studio
It's a good fitness studio. Sales team is bad, but that's to be expected. Is like it is. For what it's worth it's a top fitness studio 5/5.
Sales reps
Sales reps. are low life scam artists. Stay away from every LA Fitness.
LA Fitness has the worst customer…
LA Fitness has the worst customer service of any company I do business with. If I had an option I would use another Gym. The management of LA Fitness has no concept of customer service.
Terrible business
My name is Justin, and I am a disabled Army veteran. I signed up for a gym membership and personal training. A couple weeks after signing up, I was hospitalized due to some medical issues and diagnosed with a condition that wouldn't allow me to workout for the foreseeable future. Upon discharge from the hospital, I contacted LA Fitness corporate office and emailed them a doctor's note saying I couldn't work out until my diagnosis cleared. They rejected this note as it wasn't specific enough. LA Fitness told me it needed to say at least 6 months that I couldn't workout. I got another note that specifically said no working out for 6 months, but again they rejected it. This time, they told me it had to say I couldn't work out indefinitely. Currently in the waiting process for receiving my third note from the doctor. DO NOT sign up for personal training contracts at this gym. If you ever need to get out of it for whatever reason, they will screw with you and do everything they can to keep you under contract. Also, they absolutely refused to refund me for the month I was unable to use. LA Fitness does not care about their customers, only lining their pockets. They treated my medical issues like a joke. The personal trainer I had at my gym tried telling me I should just keep coming to the gym and doing light workouts, completely disregarding my doctor's orders. I explained to him my situation over text message and he completely ignored me; no response whatsoever. The trainers also do not care about your well being. DO NOT use this gym. Awful business.
I would give it no stars if I could
I would give it no stars if I could. Call to provide them with my new card number since mine had expired. spoke to Daniel and assumed I would ne charged the $38 I was charged monthly. He charged over $90 and did not event tell me the amount would be different. When I called back he said there was nothing he could do. Needless to say after over ten years as an LA Fitness member I will be moving to a better gym in my area
Loved it at first then it became hell…
Loved it at first then it became hell when I tried to cancel my gym membership after a year. They refused to cancel it and will fight with you unprofessionally to make you not cancel it. I had to professionally harass them to terminate it. Even then they failed to terminate it correctly the first time. I ended up having to call the 800# to cancel it. In the end I had to declare my credit card stolen and told them I'd take legal action if they didn't terminate it. That's what it took to end my contract. The sad part is la fitness pushes good customer service skills. This was very unprofessional. The annoying part was the cancellation fee to terminate the contract. After dealing with a gym for the last time I decided to use the money for the month to month payment and just invest in my own personal equipment. If you wait for jan/feb sales you can get some pretty good buys. It took a couple years but I was able to furnish one of my bedrooms with my own exorcise equipment.
The reps at my local la fitness are decent folk for the most part. The gym uses tactics to increase membership and con people into membership plans. The more you pay the less you have to pay month to month. Not sure about you but I don't have up to 1k to fork over to pay the lowest month to month fee. That's a bit $$ even for your average consumer. During standard business hours there's generally someone there. If you need assistance after staffing hours you're pretty much reliant on the 800#. Most of the reps they higher are young 18-25 year old individuals where it's pretty obvious it's their first ever job. Customer service skills vary from individual to individual. Some have more of a professional approach than others. While some have zero customer service skills at all. It just depends on the education and their social skills and environment they were brought up in.
When I went to the gym it was new and pristine at first. It quickly came to wear and tear after that and now looks like garbage 15 years later.
Exorcise machines not cleaned daily. Clients refuse to lightly sanitize their sweat after use. I can not tell you how many times I've gotten a sweat rash form someone's nasty sweat they refused to clean up. It's not that difficult to use a hand towel to wipe up your sweat people. When the machines break they take for ever to fix them and people will often rip of the lock out tags and use them anyways. Thus presenting a safety risk to unknowing future users of the machine. I quickly learned to bring my own sanitation equipment before using the machines. Occasionally some of the staff harassed me but the staff did zero cleaning them selves and it was pretty damn obvious the gym was lacking sanitation practices.
Locker rooms. The locker rooms fell into disarray quickly due to insufficient sanitation practices. The showers also came quickly to gorse mildew and mold issues. I would highly recommend shower shoes and to bathe in a swim suit should you get any peeping toms in the shower rooms.
Locker room theft. Do not leave your wallet, cards or phones in your locker unattended. I can not tell you how high locker room theft is in gyms. Theft rings know to send kids to gyms and steal plastic cards out of unattended bags and unlocked lockers in the locker rooms. They'll steal anything of value and head off to the closest grocery store that sells visa gift cards and try to commit fraud.
Covid cancellation. I hate to say it but it was sad that the government had to pass a law to allow gym members to cancel their gym memberships because the government caused covid to close the gyms for 2-3 years. Even then they failed to perform proper covid sanitation practices. Gym participants would refuse to wear masks nor wear them correctly. And even insist on wearing them on the chin. Which defeats the purpose of wearing one all together. Gym staff couldn't do a thing if an individual chose to not wear one at all.
Need outfit standards. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a gym to see a guy wearing boxer shorts only or a women trying to be a fit stripper at the weight lifting area. Yet when you try to call the gym to report stuff like this they reply they can't do a thing about what people chose to wear. Yes you can chose to do something about it. No shirt, no shoes, no service. This makes people just showing up in tank tops and shorts only no shirt no service.
Insurance. My insurance allows us to submit a reimbursement for gym member ship or have one at reduce cost. They do not accept this. Kaiser allows la fitness as a selection option. Yet when you go in they still try to force you to sign up for their month to month fees and your insurance covers it. I basically gave up trying to get a free month to month membership through my insurance.
I've been to many LA Fitnesses around…
I've been to many LA Fitnesses around Southern California and I can say that most of them are just "ok." Most of them have their pros and cons. Very few have racquetball courts, others don't have pools, some have saunas, others include saunas and steam rooms. There's no winning with the company unless you locked in a cheap and affordable monthly membership cost. I'm not surprised but take any large American company and expect them to screw you over and take whatever money they can.
I have been a member for over 30 years!
I have been a member for over 30 years.I enjoy the club though in the new one we have, they eliminated the sauna, which was a great benefit to me.
i am sorry to see that go, but the equipment is all newer and excellent.
The staff is friendly and helpful, but do not provide advice unless you get a private session.I feel badly for new members who have no clue what to do other than trad mills or bikes.
I will continue as a member as long as it stays affordable for me.

The pro is that its an Incredibly affordable gym. The trade off is the quality of the machines and not so well kept. Average.
The one in the Southside of Pittsburgh…
The one in the Southside of Pittsburgh is a dump. There has been no hot water for weeks. The fan in the spin room has been broken for years. And there are broken and removed lockers doors everywhere.

La Fitness is disgusting Dirty and rusty machines I would recommend people do not go to this place I would recommend you to go to 24 hour fitness
Clean gym and motives me to work out
They keep taking your money
I signed up for 2 months and paid in full1st and last month. I must have reiterated at least 5 times during the sign up that I was a snowbird and would only be here 2 months in order to make sure I wouldn't get a bill. I even paid by check so as not to be charged on my credit card. I never ok'd a debit but found that they debited my account. Still trying to get my money back
The worst management ever
The worst management ever, don’t let them convince you to do the membership for the personal trainer stupidly like me. I gave to the manager my medical certificate which shows I can’t work out anymore , that was the end of November and they are still charging me $250 every month even though my membership is cancelled already. The worst service ever!
