Frustrating booking experience with no resolution
Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. My assistant accidentally booked the wrong dates due to a glitch while reserving through Airbnb and noticed it immediately (within 10 minutes). She contacted the host right away to try to fix it and also reached out to Airbnb for support.
The host, James, was completely inflexible and showed no compassion whatsoever. He refused to offer even a partial refund, despite the fact that my group never stayed at the property and my assistant took quick, responsible action. Instead, he simply told her to “take it up with Airbnb” rather than working with us on a solution.
While he offered to change the reservation dates, none of the options provided worked for my group, as we were traveling internationally with a fixed itinerary.
The cancellation policy also mentioned a refund cut-off time but didn’t include a time zone, and my assistant had reached out well before that deadline. Unfortunately, none of that mattered.
I understand policies exist for a reason, but the complete lack of flexibility, empathy or willingness to meet halfway was disappointing. I’d caution other travelers to double and triple check everything for booking here, because if anything goes wrong, there is no room for discussion. Any unexpected changes will likely be met with zero accommodation.
