Useless

Asked for a homeless meeting to be made earlier made the appointment no one rang rearranged to be told that we need the how to rent guide (why?) ended up having to get a loan to cover first month's rent because EBC can't/wont help. Always have a headache dealing with them. Stupid office hours 9-4

Eastbourne borough council

Eastbourne borough council
What have you done to the iconic lawn gardens renowned for its fabulous colours adjacent to the sea?
It’s now dull and depressing - no colour at all
Another example of misguided cost cutting in the guise of environmental sustainability
I have now seen so many derogatory memes on line - It’s now become a laughing stock where people are now ashamed to be associated with the area in which previously they were rightly proud
What were you thinking Eastbourne council?
Why does the once proud Bandstand look more like a toilet block?
Is it really still being refurbished?
Or it’s now in a permanent state of disrepair?
Will someone do something about the Lions hotel building - what an eyesore blot on the landscape
Where is the pride in Eastbourne gone?

Heartless, incompetent, terrible communicators.

I had a letter last year stating that I owe money from HB overpayment. I was puzzled, as I haven't received HB since 2018, but it turns out the council just hadn't bothered letting me know there was an amount outstanding.
They started straight away with threats and nastiness, stating that they were going to take from my wages and so on.
I eventually got a call from a nice woman who was the leader of the collections team who apologised for the letters and the total lack of support, advice, concern or sympathy.
I set up a repayment plan, but then my partner lost his job. I emailed a couple of times to say that I couldn't afford the plan for the time being and could we hold fire (remember, they've let this debt lie for 7 years).
Nope. If you don't pay, we'll go for your wages.
I have a job where I help people for a living. I wonder how much job satisfaction these debt collectors get from persecuting poorer people?

Having reported travellers in woods between denton and mount pleasant. Still no action. What is this rubish council doing. Oh yes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. PAY LOADS GET NOTHING

Bank Holiday Litter

Bank Holiday Litter
I walked through the town centre last night about 8 pm and it looked a tip.
Every litter bin was overflowing, bags of extra litter had been left.
Gulls, probably, had torn most bags open and the waste, a lot of it food waste, on a very hot day was starting to smell.
The worst example was in North Court passage off Cliffe High Street.
Narrow, enclosed, forcing pedestrians to walk through it.
This happens every Bank Holiday and LDC know it and choose to do nothing about it.
Just what visitors to the town think about it is probably unprintable.

Bunch of Jobsworths

Bunch of Jobsworths

A main road was resurfaced recently and left in a total mess by the contractors involved.

A road gulley (drain) was left full of excess grit right to the top.

I reported this to Lewes District Council, only to get a reply that it nothing to do with them, it was East Sussex County Council or possibly Southern Water and I should contact them.

So LDC take all this effort to say it's not them.
But why not show a little bit of gumption and some old-fashioned helpfulness and forward the complaint, instead of spending time thinking of reasons not to do it.

The information about Southern Water was wrong as they don't have any responsibility for roads - obvious - and why didn't the contractor report it as it was their poor practices that caused the problem in the first place?

From now on I can't be bothered. They can't, so why should I? It won't be my property flooding as I live up a hill.

I know it's a hard job sitting in a comfy office dreaming up ideas to avoid doing anything, but it's organisations like these that are dragging this country down.

To be fair, I have worked for local councils before, but that was back in time when civic pride, service to the community, going the extra mile were part of the job.

Absolutely hopeless

Absolutely hopeless

Waiting 3 months to get an answer to a very simple issue in my planning application. Impossible to get hold of the planning officer, or to talk to anyone in the office who knows what I should do. No access to managers or anyone in authority. I've sent dozens of emails and called their office dozens of times...

Just returned home from my first ever…

Just returned home from my first ever visit to Eastbourne. Everything was fine except for the roads, which are atrocious, potholes everywhere including on the main roads. I would like to think I could return in the summer to see what Eastbourne offers but am concerned for my vehicle which is new

Dedicated people.

Had to wait a fairly long time for council tax rebate due to moving away. When calling I always found the staff prompt and friendly in every call. I have to really thank Janja, who went really above and beyond to help me, see why the money had not arrived in my account and rectify it. She took personal responsibility and did all she promised and these are the people I like to employ.

Disabled Bays Chapel St Car Park Newhaven

Just tried to park up in disabled bays in Chapel St car park in Newhaven. All but 1 in the nearest rows to the Town now given up to some club. If your not a member then you have to search around the rest of the car park for a space. Zero regard given to other Blue Card holders. I was advised by a member of the club that the 5 spaces were earmarked in their title deeds. Fine but did it specify they had to be the ones so regularly used by disabled drivers. I wonder. He advised me that a disabled Blue Card holder had already been given a ticket for parking in their bays. Unbelievable.
