Unjustifiable fees and apalling customer service
Unfortunately, we have had a shocking and distressing experience with Lewis Golden. The quote we were given was very misleading, offering two figures – which we thought were alternative options – but no total amount. Turns out they expected us to pay both amounts combined despite the fact that we gave them detailed guidance on our requirements and the ballpark figure we were seeking to pay, based on a quotation from a rival company, one of the top tax advisory companies in the UK. Ultimately, their bill was for almost triple what we had been quoted by the other company. When we asked for an itemized list of costs the list provided included items, totaling a significant sum, that were dated before we had even signed the contract. Despite demanding so much for the alleged ‘complexity’ of the work, they made it clear that they expected us to do the majority of this ourselves and send it to them. Although during later discussions they implied we could reach a mutually beneficial resolution, all they have done since is continue to demand the full amount.
