Lidl Madeley Telford

Lidl Madeley Telford. Having been a Lidl customer for many years and always praising our local one over Aldi - which is literally across the road from Lidl! They have now revamped it and taken the packing shelf out which helps so able to be quick at the till and move away to pack, but now you have got to either take your time to pack - and get dirty looks from the till person or the customers behind you - or wheel everything out to your car and pack. God forbid in the winter when its dark and wet how some people especially the elderly will manage, plus if some one decides to attack someone or rob them as they are trying to pack from the trolley into bags and into their boots...also many items now no longer offered and prices going up more than the big branded supermarkets...due to ghis myself and family have decided to shop elsewhere now. Lidl you will be losing more customers soon.

For some time if I buy multipack of…

For some time if I buy multipack of fruit inevitably at least 1 is rotten. as an example i purchased on 01/09/2026 a pack of 6 golden delicious apples from scarborough store. 5 were firm and appeared fresh. One apple was old, soft and slightly wrinkled.
This also happens with multipacks of pears.
It happens too often to be accidental. I now believe it is your company policy to cheat your customers in this way.
Shame on you.
I will no longer buy any fruit multipacks.
Finally I would add even when pears were not rotten they were unripe. Rock hard, and tasted dry. Same with some melons.
You really need to respond to these issues.
I now only buy green bananas & frozen berries

Poorly trained checkout staff

Edinburgh, Easter Road store:

Lidl self-service checkout staff are mostly helpful and pleasant but today I encountered a real nasty specimen who went from friendliest guy in the world (albeit that overbearing friendliness which raises red flags) to a downright aggressive and menacing little tyrant at the drop of a hat.

He refused to authorise GSL medicine items, wrongly (and viciously!) citing the "two pack rule". If he had been in the right I would've nodded politely and moved on, but the items in question are not subject to the "two pack rule".

When I go shopping I don't want any interaction with the staff unless strictly necessary. I most definitely don't want my experience befouled by some jumped-up jobsworth who doesn't even know the basics of his own job.

Top tip Lidl: teach your checkout staff the basic laws of retail. And don't employ people with personality 'issues' in customer facing roles.

NEVER AGAIN

Went to lidl at staple tye, Harlow to do big shop. No trolleys. Spoke to staff who said they were not having trolley any more as they keep being stolen and we would have to use plastic pull baskets. No apology even when it was pointed out that we could not get all we wanted to buy in them and was difficult and painfull putting goods in and getting out of it . Another elderly customer also complained but staff were not interested and when we got to checkout they still tried to rush us through even though it took longer to pack causing other customers to queue longer. I won't be shopping at ANY LIDL again. Why should customer be treated this way?!.

I have been shopping at Lidl for more…

I have been shopping at Lidl for more than a decade. I particularly love certain products, such as their bakery items, which I feel are much better than those from other places. For me, it is not about the price, but the freshness. Unfortunately, during my last visit, I encountered a deeply racist customer assistant. The experience was so upsetting that it felt as though Hitler's Nazi mentality is still alive today, even though this happened in a UK Lidl and not in Germany. I have experienced racist treatment several times at Lidl, especially from the till assistants. They rarely say hello to me, even though I see them greeting other customers warmly. However, it doesn't matter to me at all—I cannot expect every animal to behave gently, nicely, or fairly. It would be illogical to expect the word 'evil' to be removed from the dictionary. Therefore, I couldn't care less when these types of people show their true, ugly faces. I view it as their birth defect; to me, their face and their backside are exactly the same.

forget guarantees of freshness !

Advertise “guaranteed Fresh produce”
The two packs of cherries which I bought from their Broadway Road, Evesham branch at 8.15am on 1st September were both mouldy and rotten. Took them back within the hour. Waited in queue to return them.
“Got your receipt?”
“No, I didn’t have one but it was only 50 minutes ago”
“Can’t do anything then-you’ll have to contact Customer Services”
“Well you can see my payment on my telephone banking app”
“Sorry, nothing I can do”
What a terrible company

Customer service experience

Customer service has been mixed. Most of the time exceptional however there has been a mix of too often and little in return of the service provided. But can except some circumstances.

Competitive in the market and very satisfied overall.

I'm loyal, but not that happy...

Prices are obviously pretty competitive / good. However, favourites sometimes go out of stock or are deleted, which is frustrating. I also feel that for some things, the quality is not good. I bought a net of 4 oranges a few days ago on special offer, two were acceptable but not very juicy, one was tasteless and dry, and the final one was bad! The store can be scruffy at times.
My main annoyance at the moment is that the toilet facility has been out of order for several weeks, which says to me that the comfort of customers may not be a top priority (Kings Heath store in Birmingham). Great that they have toilets, but keep them working please!

No Lidl plus. Gone elsewhere

Lidl supermarket was my favorite place to shop but with the introduction of "Lidl Plus" and having carry a mobile phone to get the special prices ,I have changed to sainsbury because I can use a credit card size nectar card. I still prefer Lidl but it's now to pricey for me because I have no mobile phone and every offer is Lidl plus.

I’ve done a shop in Lidl a few days ago I’d picked up some tinned potatoes as my son asked for them I’ve empty them in a pan and there is black bits over them, plus the potato are broken up,
Quality is very poor considering they are from the UK I expect better quality
Comes to something when we have to get food from other country’s because our country can’t take more care when packing food into tins or any packaging

i’m completely appalled by the state of the bakery in the shop. It is literally like a free-for-all in this business. It’s honestly disgusting how they treat the customers. the shops never cleaned and there’s filth everywhere. I’m a certified germophobe and this has completely set me off. I’m also vegetarian at the end of the day and I don’t know what grubby fingers that have had meat on them. It’s absolutely absurd how dirty this shop is. No amount of hand sanitizer can clean my hands after being in this abomination of a shop. There has been so many grubby paws all over my food that it is absolutely making me sick to my stomach and don’t get me started on the flies. they’re everywhere, invading the aisles and people far too many of them. all I hear when I’m walking down the aisles is buzz buzz buzz It’s sending me Loopy. My screen is now so greasy from typing this review. if I could give this review less than one star believe me I would. i expect an apology, A$AP Rocky, and free shopping spree pronto. thank you for your time of day. You need to get fly traps immediately.

Lidl Kingswinford.

Lidl Kingswinford.
First started shopping here about 2 years ago.
Stores clean and tidy, good selection of products to buy.
When i started going in they used to have cashiers at the till, occasionally theyd be forced to run around doing other stuff ( cost cutting again) but theyd usually be on the ball and get back to the till quickly to get customers served.
Fast forward to the last few weeks.
Theyve installed those bloody rotten self serve machines, R2D2 without the personality....
So me being me, I always pay cash, i dont see why i should have my face scanned and recorded along with my card details and the purchases i make so some backroom snooper can figure out ever more inventive ways to target me for adverts, theres enough of that going on at the aisles there with those nasty little spy cameras watching you to see how you browse and try to target you later.....
So I rock on up to the till and theres no one manning it/any of them, just one poor girl being run ragged by the incessant red lights signifying yet another machine created c0ck up.
Flustered she was, hadnt got access to the till i only had cash, and no one to deal with it.
Shes on her headset desperately trying to get one of the other equally flustered or busy staff to come deal with me, "The Troublemaker"( my words) while another couple of folk line up behind me. Eventually another staff member came out and dealt with me and I could tell that she too was having a bad day. So I asked her if she wanted me to make a complaint, she said "it wont make any difference" but she was nothing but courteous with me, and I have no complaints there about either of the staff i interacted with.
So on behalf of Lidls Kingswinford store staff, come on Lidl management, sort this machine issue out, many of us just want to use cash and you need a till open at all times with someone available to deal with it, cos if you continue to act like this youll just find an ever decreasing pool of customers and profits.
Do the right thing by both your customers and your staff, they work hard for you but appreaciation seems lacking like support for them.
Say NO! to the machines, bring back cash tills.

Exceptional Customer Service

★★★★★ **Exceptional Customer Service from Riaz**

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding customer service I received from Riaz at Lidl, The Mall, Luton (LU1 2LJ).

From the moment I approached him, Riaz was extremely polite, professional and welcoming. He listened carefully, understood what assistance I needed and went out of his way to help me. He did not make me feel rushed or treated as though I was simply another customer. Instead, he demonstrated patience, respect and a genuine willingness to make sure everything was resolved properly.

What impressed me most was his positive attitude and calm, approachable manner. In a busy retail environment, it is easy for customer service to feel rushed or impersonal, but Riaz showed that kindness, professionalism and attention to detail can make a significant difference to someone’s shopping experience.

Employees like Riaz are extremely valuable because they represent the company through their actions. His exceptional level of service reflects positively on the entire Lidl branch and sets a strong example for others to follow. He is not simply carrying out his duties—he is creating a welcoming environment and ensuring that customers feel respected, valued and supported.

Great customer service deserves to be recognised, and I sincerely hope Lidl’s management acknowledges Riaz for his hard work, dedication and commitment to helping customers. He is a true credit to the Lidl team and an excellent representative of the standards every customer should experience.

Thank you, Riaz, for going above and beyond. Your professionalism and kindness did not go unnoticed. Please continue the excellent work—you are making a real and positive difference.
