Lidl Brighton Discount not honoured

Lidl Brighton, Jam filled doughnuts were shown priced at 49each or 3 for £1, so I bagged and checked out 3 of them, as usual, checkouts were busy with queue staring, there's no time to check the receipt, when I got home, realised I was charged £1.47 for the 3 Jam filled doughnuts, not the £1 as priced.
It's a long trek back to claim back my 47p.
I wonder if such tactics are on purpose, as it's a gain of nearly 50% to Lidl, quite a hugh margin.

Disapointed Customer

We are loyal customers of Lidl until today…I opened up my Lidl app as I do all the time, and it said I had a Birthday gift, just click on and it showed a couple of things to choose from, so I saw a donut, and my wife went over to bakery and got a donut…the cashier said she was sorry but a donut was not offered, but could get a cronut…what is a cronut???cant I just have the donut, and she said NO, but sorry…I have been retail for many years, and the owner of the business once told me…you can spend a lot of money in advertising, to get a customer into the store, and quickly loose them when you can’t make a customer happy on an occasional problem…Give a little sometime to make a customer happy goes a long way…and right now I am very unhappy and I may never go back to Lidl again…

Lidl Downtown Brooklyn – A GIANT missed opportunity

A GIANT missed opportunity. There was so much excitement, when a Lidl store FINALLY opened in downtown Brooklyn a month ago! Within days, things already began falling apart. Not a welcoming place.

This store has little to do with the Lidl brand: It is comparatively giant. Aisles and aisles of the same junk food other supermarkets sell. Very few of the delicious, healthy, sourced and award-winning basics Lidl is known for.

Bad management: No knowledge of stocks. Adorable crew members are outnumbered by the clueless and rude. Crew members openly prefer to assist some customers, ignore or ill-treat others.

The store is not ready at opening time. Customers are being pushed around with oversized cleaning and handling equipment.

Closure of self-checkout results in long lines at cashier lanes. No privacy at payment terminals. No space to pack purchases. Cashier double-charges for items.

It was soooo clean in the beginning! Now: Big active water leak above food displays. Chewing gum stuck on packaging. Torn open groceries on dusty shelves. Veggies no longer fresh.

Hey, this is Lidl!

Always read the dates on flyers in the store

Well, I went into Waddell in the morning, trying to catch check out and I’m screaming for someone to ring me out all the cash riders is closed except one then the manager slowly walks over. I told her I want the sale price for the soda she’s like oh it’ll come off at the end so at the end I rang up and I said where is the discount it says here in the flyer oh that’s the old flyer well, I got it in front of the store, a whole stack of flyers of expired flyers for people to grab on the way walking in and she didn’t even honor me the sale. I’m already in a hurry and I don’t feel like taking it off of my receipt.

Checkout lines are always long

Checkout lines are always long. Great prices and good variety of choices that are not in regular supermarkets. Can be in a hurry when you go there’s and no self checkout registers!

Lidle

Lidle, Woodruff Rd, Greenville. Absolutely filthy and the vegetables were rotten. Workers have zero pride in their job or helping customers. Manager apparently doesn't care either to see that place. Will avoid this store.

I’m extremely disappointed with the…

I’m extremely disappointed with the produce section at this store on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. I came in hoping to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, but every container of strawberries I looked at had visible mold growing inside. I showed one to an employee, who seemed unaware—but then did nothing to remove the spoiled items from the shelf. It’s unacceptable to see food in this condition still being offered for sale, and it makes me question how well the rest of the store is being maintained. I expect better standards, especially when it comes to food safety. Unfortunately United States has failed the consumers.

Disappointed by the Lower-Quality U.S. Products from Lidl — A Brand I Once Trusted

As someone from Europe now living in the U.S., I’ve known and trusted Lidl for years. Back home, Lidl offers high-quality, thoughtfully made food products that reflect strong sourcing standards, good ingredients, and excellent value. I was excited to see Lidl expand into the U.S. market — but unfortunately, the experience here has been a major letdown.

What’s particularly disappointing is that while Lidl still presents itself as a European grocery brand in the U.S., only a small portion of the products sold here are actually imported from Europe. The vast majority appear to be sourced or produced locally, using noticeably lower-quality ingredients, with clear compromises in taste, texture, and overall integrity.

To those of us who know Lidl’s European offerings, it feels like the brand is leveraging its reputation to sell a watered-down version of itself in the U.S., assuming most customers won’t realize the difference.

So I have to ask:
Why are you doing this?
Is it based on the common European perception that U.S. consumers are less discerning when it comes to food quality — and therefore more likely to accept inferior products under a familiar European name? If so, that’s not just disappointing — it’s incredibly disheartening.

Please understand that some of us are familiar with both markets. We see the difference. Many of us here know what Lidl is truly capable of, and we expected better. American consumers deserve the same quality and value you offer in Europe — not a downgraded version packaged in the same branding.

Please rethink your approach. Some of us see the difference — and it matters.

Hate the new Paramus location

Hate the new Paramus location. Only one live checkout. The self checkout is overly sensitive and required constant resetting. They had few options. One brand of mayo in one size, for example. The layout is utterly illogical.

Won’t go back.

Stay clear of the Washington DC Lidls store!

I have frequently shopped at Lidls at various locations however, the Columbia Heights store is problematic on multiple counts:
1. store management refused to identify themselves upon request when I had an issues with a very disrespectful cashier.Instead of immediately and discreetly addressing the situation management became a even bigger problem by making matters worse with his belligerence.
My disability became a source of ridicule and laughter. The attitudes and behavior of the employees ,including management was so egregious that I started recording it!
2. The location in question isn't my choice but rather a necessity at time. my disability severely limits my shopping option. on most occasions I notice employees being very inconsiderate in how and where they leave items to be shelved.Often it is an inconvenience to the customer.
3.I am reluctant to ask for assistance due to prior rude and unhelpful service.
4.filthy baskets and unwillingness to greet and think customers while checking out.
5. Employees not excusing themselves when they interrupt customers shopping experience while shelving and moving items .
6. there is an unwritten policy, per management, whereby employees don't where name tags or identity themselves upon request.
I did file a complaint with corporate however, nothing appears to have changed!

When you advertise an item in your…Fresh Meadows Lidi store or Glen Oaks store it should be there.

When you advertise an item in your flyer for the week of January 15-21, you should make sure you have enough items in the warehouse to make the customers satisfied. You advertised Eggland 18ct eggs for $4.99. On the first day which was yesterday January 15, 2025 by 10am the eggs in the Fresh Meadows store were all sold out. I was told there will be more today. I got up early and I was the first one in the store on January 16, 2025. The shipment was not delivered. I traveled to the Glen Oaks Lidi and was told yesterday the store never got the shipment at all for the sale eggs. What is going on with the shipment of sale items in your stores??

Defective Product

On September 29th, we purchased a Livarno trellis for use as a Christmas present. On assembly, there was a missing part. Customer service had no viable solution to the problem: they wouldn't exchange it or replace the part. Since I spent time assembling the item (45 minutes), disassembling it and taking back was not reasonable. So much for the 3-year limited warranty. Merry Christmas LIDL!

Never consistently have items in stock stock

Never consistently have items in stock. Very dirty and messy shelves. Went to buy corn muffin mix and cupcake liners. Guess what plenty of cornbread mix but no liners. When asked where liners might be,was told they don't normally carry them. Back to a real supermarket and not a 7/11 style convenience store.

NEW CHRISTMAS POLICY: GOT A RETURN? DONATE TO LIDL

When shopping for Thanksgiving at the Brick store, I bought a men's flannel shirt size M
(Said it fits size 38"-40").
It was so small, it was skin tight on my grandson who is not even 35". I inadvertently disposed of my grocery receipt, which included the shirt. When I went to LIDL's today, they refused to refund my money or even give me a credit because their new policy for the holidays is now:
NO RECEIPT, NO REFUND. What do you do with an irregular size shirt? Clerk at register said "give it as a gift". Ugh, insulted, I said "throw it in the garbage if you won't honor a refund on a poor-quality purchase". Finally store mgr, Jessica, came out to talk me down and "protect her staff from me." She was the Queen of Nasty. When the first manager wouldn't ID himself, I had taken a picture to complain to main office. Jessica insisted I delete their picture, implying she would grant my refund only if I did so. Now I see why they only rate 1.8 stars. Bad, bad customer service and policies.
