Lincare: A Frustrating Experience
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Lincare. I expected a seamless process, but unfortunately, that was far from the reality.
Customer Service Nightmare:
Phone Abyss: Trying to reach Lincare’s customer service felt like diving into a black hole. It took me ages to get someone on the phone. I half-expected to emerge in Narnia by the time they finally picked up.
Communication Breakdown: Customer service agents seem to have mastered the art of talking in circles.
Conclusion:
Lincare’s services are a comedy of errors. If you enjoy frustration, long phone waits, and billing mysteries, this is the place for you. But if you value your sanity and need reliable support, run far, far away from Lincare.
RUDE
RUDE. Just the worst. I called 5 days after the death of my mother to arrange pickup of her oxygen supplies as she had quite a bit at home, it was painful to pass by, and I thought someone might need it. I called at 4:55 p.m. (they close at 5:00 p.m.). I told Jim Olson, who answered the phone, that my mother had passed and I needed to arrange for her SUPPLIES to be picked up. He had the nerve to tell me “make sure you are using the correct language so we know what we are picking up”. Excuse me, what? I will admit, I was immediately enraged but my mother has just died and you want to correct my use of language? I called him “graceless” and told him to schedule a pickup. He refused and said “I was apparently having a bad day”. What the actual heck is wrong with this man? I again insisted that he schedule the pickup, raised my voice, told him that yes, I was having a bad day SINCE MY MOTHER HAD JUST DIED, and to come get his equipment. He told me to call back tomorrow, hung up on me, and then turned the phone at the office off - at 4:57 p.m. I called back 3 more times and got the automated service. Nice. Really nice, Jim. Way to be compassionate towards your clients and their families. He had previously been rude to my terminally-ill mother while she was in crisis and her oxygen concentrator failed her - told her that in all his years, no one had ever had more than one break down. Real class act over there at Lincare Traverse City.
Incompetence
Incompetence, rudeness, lack of interest. Just so bad it is a miracle they can stay in business. They go out of their way to make your experience worse. Fortunately I just needed a walker, bought one at Walmart.
I feel sorry for you if you need something expensive. You are screwed.
Run far away from this company
Run far away from this company. I don't know what is wrong with their records. I was with preferred home Care for 15 years getting CPAP supplies with no problem. Once Lincare bought them there was no longer any customer service. Very very long wait times up to 45 minutes. And then they would hang up on you. Call back get a customer service rep talk to them and explain your situation they try to transfer you to somebody to help and you get disconnected after sitting on hold for 15 or 20 minutes. They ask if my doctor is still a doctor that retired 15 years ago. Keep in mind they have continuous records on me and should know what I need and who my doctor is. My doctor has submitted multiple prescriptions yet I still can't get my CPAP supplies refilled. This has been an ongoing problem for quite a while now
This rating is for Lincaire
This rating is for Lincaire. I have been a fool for sticking with them for many years. This recent disappointment is based on them dragging their feet to deliver something. My most recent order will finally be delivered today March 15. Their tracking number and insistence is that the order was made on March 10, 2024, when in FACT I called it in and spoke with the person who ordered it for me.......ON MARCH 4. It was ordered on the 4th Lincaire and you did not begin moving on it until the 10th.
DISHONEST BILLING!
When I initiated my Lincare service almost 10 years ago, they "didn't have the proper documentation to initiate my monthly payment plan", and promised that they would contact my insurance to get it sorted out. I started getting insurance coverage explanations stating how much they were paying to Lincare each month, and did not receive any further contact from them so I assumed that everything had been "sorted out" as promised. That's on me. I should not have trusted them. It was a full two years later that I got a "final notice" stating that I owed them hundreds of dollars for supplies that I had received. I called to find out what was going on. They said that insurance was paying their part, but that I never had. I attempted to set up an automatic monthly payment plan like they had promised would be handled from the beginning, but when I told them how much I could afford to pay each month (I am on a fixed income), the REFUSED to set up the plan because the amount was "insufficient to level the balance". The amount I had offered was more than double what I had been assured was the highest monthly cost for supplies out of pocket. I was told that I would have to make manual payments, as they would not do a plan for me unless I offered THREE TIMES what I had told them I could afford to pay, which was absolutely impossible for me. So I proceeded to make monthly payments through their web site or mailed in. When I moved, I made sure to update my address with their billing department, and their shipping department, as well as the main "accounts holding" department. It took several calls. That was 8 years ago. Last year, I started getting payments returned to me as being "insufficient" to cover the bill. No one could tell me why, except that I "owed too much for past supplies" (that I had tried to cancel, but the cancellation was impossible). Lincare then took those returned payments as "proof of non-payment on the account" and sent me to collections. During this time, they continued to send me more supplies that I had cancelled, and billed me for those, too! Except, I would receive the individual monthly bill for the supplies they sent, however, by the time I had physically gotten the bill, they had already sent it to collections. When I desperately spoke to billing to find out what was going on, I was told that because they had opened collections on my account, every invoice would automatically be sent straight to collections upon being generated, giving me NO opportunity to pay it. They STILL refused to cancel my account/delivery of supplies. After spending weeks trying to find the "right person" to talk to - getting hung up on, disconnected, condescended to, and mocked when I *did* get to speak to a real person - I finally reached a very helpful lady who promised to get my account closed, except that I had a CREDIT on my account that wasn't being applied to my outstanding bill? Apparently the money they received that they didn't send back, was just dumped somewhere and not applied to my bill, further adding "proof of non-payment" to justify sending my account to collections. Again and again and AGAIN! I currently have FOUR open collections accounts from Lincare, my credit is destroyed, and I STILL have no guarantee that I will stop being billed for supplies! Also, when I spoke to this helpful woman, my OLD ADDRESS WAS STILL ON FILE to have things shipped to! I did my due diligence, and they have mishandled and taken advantage of me every step of the way.My credit is ruined, my fiances are in shambles, and I don't know how I can go on. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LINCARE!
Poor customer service
I have been dealing with this company for more than a year and I am very unsatisfied with their customer service. The most aggravating experience is that they do not follow up on messages to therapists after being on hold for 30 minutes or more to leave a message.
To caring people katin and Isaiah
Katlin and Isaiah were absolutely fantastic in helping me in my time of need. I cannot express my gratitude to these individuals who helped me in my time of need. All I can say these people should be given more recognition than they have not been given.
Bad service
I have called every day for the last week. No one returns my calls. My Lincsre portable oxygen generator needs service. This is a disgrace.
Horrible billing department
Horrible billing department. I had been paying my co pay for my bipap for almost a year. My employer changed insurance companies and Lincare said my DME was no longer covered. My insurance company laughed when I told them this as sleep apnea treatment is definitely covered. Rather than deal with the billing department any further, the local Lincare office told me that if I paid a certain amount, then I would own my machine outright. So I paid that amount to the billing department on October 21, 2023. Now, on December 15, 2023, I get a letter telling me that my account is 60 days past due in the amount of $59.35. That I am delinquent and should pay immediately. I had requested an itemized bill prior to making that final payment in October and was told to just go online. I have been on bipap since 2004 and this is the 3rd DME company (and absolute worst DME company) that I have ever dealt with. As a home health care registered nurse, I have dealt with DME companies for my patients and thought Lincare would be ok. Never! I will never deal with Lincare again and I will make sure my patients hear about my experience when choosing a DME company!
I cannot say enough good things about…
I cannot say enough good things about Bo at the Lincare office in Hickory,NC office He had infinite paience with me. which is not easy, explaining my new machine and mask setup I know he had other patients and other things to do, he made me feel like I was the only patient he had The receptionist was also very patient with my multiple calls
Blatant money grab
Blatant money grab. It took them weeks to get my equipment sorted out, which required me to return equipment and delay my CPAP therapy, and then I have the unit for 3 weeks and they send me a complete set of the original wrong equipment supplies that they say get replaced every 30 days. Come to find out that they automatically set you up on some type of subscription program to replace filters, tubing, mask and cushions. So, I removed myself from the replacement program only to now receive 2-3 calls per week from their 888-544-2715 number to order supplies.
But the real kicker is that you cannot get a price of the replacement parts until you order. I'm not joking, the sales rep specifically told me that they don't have access to pricing and I'd need to call back to billing to see what it will cost me after my insurance took care of their part. I asked "so you're telling me that the price of the equipment changes based on the insurance company?" and she said "oh no no no, I'm not saying that, we just don't know right now". Yeah, that's not what you said.
I suggest you get your unit and supplies and then find a local company to deal with or order through your insurance/drug store.
Giving it one star is being generous
Giving it one star is being generous. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Got my CPAP on 9/28, had a virtual fitting the next day. Was told the nasal piece was too big and to call and request another size. It is now 11/14 and I made my 13th call to the company, each time being told a new one is being shipped. I then receive more of the incorrect size and it's a round robin. The one that I talked to on 10/31 and said he'd mail it out obviously didn't, as there is no record of that and nothing was mailed out. The local office is even worse than the supply center. The woman on the phone told me "That's just how it is" and that there are 3 billion people in the world using them you're not the only one needing a return". Yup... that happened... Pretty sure I'll never get the correct supply and my bill will never be corrected. Then, I finally said "I don't give a dam about the other 3 billion people needing supplies, I care about my own right now" and she said "Mam, I'll have to disconnect the call if you continue that abusive language".
Do not use Lincare
After trying to use my bipap machine for one week, I was unable to adjust and returned the equipment to Lincare Colorado Springs on Pikes Peak Ave. I was told by Brian Carroll that there would be no charges. Lies. My credit card was charged 139.23 on 07/10/2023. Trying to fight these charges is impossible since hold times for their Florida department is 45-60 minutes. I tried to solve this at the Colorado Springs office with no luck. Mr. Carroll back pedaled and then stated I would be charged. Filing a complaint with the BBB was without success because of Lincare's red tape. I continue to be billed 72.40. PLEASE TO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR CPAP equipment and supplies - you will regret it.
Sent wrong equipment
Long story short: They sent me the wrong headgear and are refusing to
either reimburse me for the charge or send the correct one.
Whole story: I've been using Lincare for years, getting the same
headgear for the entire time. A few orders ago, I was shipped a
different style. It fit so I figured the old one was just
discontinued. On my last order, they sent a strap that did not fit. I
called and was told to send it back for a replacememt. I did and they
sent a box full of nose pillows that weren't in the right size. I
called again and was told to send it back for a replacement. I did and
they then sent me a frame not the strap. I called again, was told
to send it back and when I called, I was told by a rep from
the Escalation Resolution Team that they would not send me a
replacement. Even though she admitted that the new headgear should
never have been sent in the first place, that they still carried the
original headgear and the new strap was "universal". I don't know what
she means by that . The strap doesn't fit. She says that she won't
send a replacement since she claims that I never sent the wrong strap
back. Which doesn't make sense for a few reasons. First of all, they
obviously got the strap back as they tried to send a replacement for
it. Two, why do they even care since they can't sell opened medical
equipment to someone new. And three, this is really how they treat a
costumer of this many years. They admit the gear should never have been
changed, they admit that you sent the wrong strap for this gear THREE
TIMES and they're still reusing to replace it?
Lincare's customer service has been phenomenal.
Lincare's customer service has been outstanding. Cindy has been our Guardian angel of care both as a driver and in the office. Enrollment season is always a hassle. Lincare understood and helped us with enrollment as my insurance was no longer using them. Because our service has been phenomenal, we wanted to remain with them. Lincare worked with us until our needs were met. We understand that the job can be tough and there will be delays. We also know your customers are your top priority and some things as in life cannot be perfect. Thank you for being the best in your line of business!
WORST! HOPE THEY ROT IN HELL!
Absolutely the worst! They called the cops on me because I would not sit down and sign a bunch of papers and preferred to stand after handing me the bag with the CPAP machine.
Great Place to Shop for Medical Equipment
I had a very nice visit to the Lincare office in Newport News VA. The representative the assisted me was very helpful, and very knowledgeable. I was unprepared for the amount of equipment to choose from that my insurance covered, but with a little help from the rep, I found just the right mask to fit perfect. I recommend Lincare to anyone needing medical equipment that they carry.
Terrible company - stay away!!!!
I almost never write 1 star reviews, but don't really have a choice in this case. I am doing much better with the new CPAP device which i obtained from Lincare, but definitely regret having signed up with this organization. there are many reasons for the low score, as follows: 1) They have not followed the contract which i signed when i initially picked up the machine. the billing numbers are all massively inflated. 2) They mistakenly mailed my invoices to an old address, though i had filled out all of current info. Then, after 5 months, i received a call from a collections agency. That's very unethical. 3) They are billing me for inappropriate components; for example, they never told me that they would bill for a humidifier chamber which is part of the device. this has been billed at over $30 monthly, which is really reprehensible and dishonest. the little gauze filters are billed out at about $5 each - really?) 4) The teams at both Lincare and Carecentrix are very difficult to reach, and are not taking any responsibility for the errors mentioned above. they are simply billing the insurance as much as legally permissible, plus more, and due to my deductible, the massive bills have all been sent over to me. i now owe them more than $2000, which is placing severe strain since i am not able to work at this time. 6) they are not really negotiating with me regarding possible solutions. I certainly want to reach a resolution, but they are not reasonable or supportive. 5) One employee agreed that i have been overcharged; however, she did not have the authority to adjust my bill. At least there is one honest person there, though she could not help me. 6) I have had zero assistance with my difficulties with my mask; they never set up any fitting appointments, but seemed to want to get me out of office as soon as possible. i was expecting to see an respiratory therapist at some point. i have submitted complaints to their office as well as the Better Business Bureau, but has not had any success to date. For your own good, please stay away from both Lincare as well as Carecentrix if you have any possible options elsewhere. it's been a real nightmare.
I do not recommend Lincare at all
I do not recommend Lincare at all. I have been using them for over a year. First of all, they did not have anyone at their location to fit masks for probably 6 months, so I did the fitting over the phone. I receive different responses based on the person that I am speaking with at the time. It seems they are only intersted in selling stuff, vs ever sending me the actual stuff that I want. I can tell them don't send that, and they still send the wrong supplies. People working there seem pretty miserable. I do not recommend.
