Avoid — deposit taken, no shutters, ignored for months, serious concerns over company identity
I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this shambolic and deceitful company.
We ordered bespoke shutters after a site visit in September 2025 and paid a deposit of around £3,000. The original fitting date was 12 December 2025.
No shutters were fitted.
Further fitting dates were then booked and missed, including 22 January 2026, 20 February 2026, 19 March 2026, and 15 May 2026. After months of delay, we still had no shutters, no installation, and no voluntary refund.
We sent more than 20 chasing emails and made nearly 40 phone calls. Calls and emails were repeatedly ignored or met with no constructive response. We also asked for basic proof that the shutters had actually been ordered, shipped, manufactured, or were being held in stock. No satisfactory proof was provided.
Eventually, we had to go through our bank to recover the deposit because the company would not return it voluntarily.
There are also serious concerns about the company identity and paperwork. The quote/invoice used the name “Lister Blinds & Shutters”, gave Company Number 13819658, and stated VAT Number GB 413 843 507. Based on Companies House and the GOV.UK VAT checker, those details appear to relate to different corporate identities. That made it unclear who we were actually contracting with and who had received our money.
Public records also show a concerning pattern of similarly named Lister Blinds / Lister Blinds & Shutters companies, company name changes, overdue accounts, and a previous company trading as Lister Blinds & Shutters entering liquidation. In my opinion, consumers should check the company number, VAT number, director history, accounts status and insolvency history very carefully before paying anything upfront.
This was not a minor delay. It was months of missed appointments, ignored calls and emails, no proper proof of order/shipping/stock, no voluntary refund, and significant household stress and disruption.
In my opinion, this is a completely disreputable way to treat customers.
