I am 58. Been buying/wearing LL Bean since I was a teenager. I returned two pair of pants as they were small. Even though I ordered my usual size. It was almost a $200 order. I received a "credit card" so I could buy something else. WHAT?! Is this legal? Being forced to buy things with a credit even though I do not want anything else. A TERRIBLE policy. Shame on you. Your founder is rolling in his grave.
We will cancel our LL Bean credit card.

The plucked chicken parka experience
I received a Baxter State Parka as a Christmas gift a few years ago, and it constantly leaked down and feathers all over my shirts and sweaters —front, back and sleeves, so I never wore it much… I usually just wear stuff from Columbia that is just as well made. This year, I decided to try to get the parka repaired through LL Bean, and while all my interactions with their employees were good, after sending it back to them, I received word that they couldn’t find any repairable issue outside of normal down leakage, so they are just sending it back to me… I still love the Bean boots, but this company is definitely NOT what it once was which, honestly, is why I ever did business with them in the first place. Aside from the boots, I won’t be buying anything from this brand any more… I’m even getting rid of my LL Bean credit card, which I had just applied for, because what’s the point, really? I wouldn’t tell anyone not to shop LL Bean, but I WOULD advise people not to buy from them if you’re expecting the former level of customer care… I can walk around looking like a half plucked chicken whenever I wear their parka because they don’t create products or care about their customers like they used to, so be aware of that when you purchase.
Excellent Service
I shopped at your Mechanicsburg, PA store today, looking for a pair of jeans appropriate for my age and style. A young lady named Maio listened to my preferences, then checked both the floor and the storeroom. Maio found three possibilities, one of which I purchased. It is unusual to receive this level of service and I wish to recognize and thank Maio.

Even supervisors hang up over and over if you start recording them. Ask to file a complaint against other customer service reps and you'll be calling back because they'll hang up for that also. This company used to pride itself on customer service and now they're the absolute worst of the worst. Shame on them and I look forward to hearing of their offshoring or customer service soon!

I wanted to say thank you to Saalah who made my tote bag and stitched the monogram. Hopefully she will get this appreciation. I have always liked everything I have ordered from LL Bean. I purchase most of my coats from them, and have been buying clothes from them since the late 90s.
Make good on your shipping that people pay for
Long story short. Placed an order on December 31. Paid Extra shipping to get it two days later on 2 January for gifts on the weekend. Now expected the following Monday. Which remind you was normal shipping. Had to call customer service to fix the problem of getting reimbursed. I will never order from you people again. Why don’t you give me a gift card and I’ll think about it but you probably won’t.
Untrustworthy
I bought the wrong size slipper as a gift for Christmas. I called immediately and asked to switch the size or cancel and reorder. The very nice lady said she would void the one I just bought ($90) and send the right one. I ended up getting both in the same shipment.
Fine? I’m out almost $100 at Christmas but I should get back as soon as the slippers are sent back. Nope. They received them on the 29 and I still haven’t received a confirmation email or my money. In fact their website tells me that the usps still has it. I had to go to the post office website and search the number to find out it was delivered to them on the 29. I called and again the man was very nice but was no help. He say I have to wait until they open it and that the lady I spoke to didn’t even try to void it. I really thought L.L. Bean was a quality company. I am very disappointed and I know it doesn’t matter but I won’t shop here again and I will tell everyone about my bad experience.
I made a return
I made a return, even got their credit card BUT they sent me, via mail, A merchandise credit! I returned 2 pairs of pants. Only tried them on, returned immediately with tags attached in perfect condition. I was NOT happy as I requested a refund! Tried using the merch credit and it’s asking for a PIN! They’ve made it ridiculously complicated to use this credit that I didn’t even want! Very bad experience and I’m a regular customer but NOT ANYMORE. UGH!!!
Serious delays and no communication
I have been a loyal L.L. Bean customer for holiday wreaths for over a decade. They were a great gift to send to loved ones to help celebrate the season. This year, I ordered wreaths on Nov. 30 with the expected shipping date of 2-5 days. One of my wreaths was not delivered until Dec 19 and the others were received on Dec 13. Both well beyond the stated 2-5 day shipping time. There was no communication at all about the delay. If they had communicated, I could have ordered another gift that would have been received in a timely manner. And after spending over $300 in wreaths, they offered a $10 gift card as an apology. Will not be using them again.

I was planning on getting my husbands some cloths for Christmas. My Amex was hacked so waiting its delivery. I thought it would be great to get the llbean Mastercard and take advantage of 20% off. OMG a disaster. . I was transferred back and forth four times. I already lost the 20% in time. After two hours I cancelled the approved ll bean master card
They were offering 25% off…
They were running an offer for 25% off if you signed up for their card. I was approved. That’s where things went wrong… the code for the 25% disappeared from my cart. I spent 20 mins speaking with LLBean and Citibank - being transferred back and forth both companies stating the discount was through the other.
When I got back to LLBean, having sorted out their requirements, they told me that the offer of 25% was no longer available. What?!
I’m just so frustrated. It was the worst and most time-consuming experience I’ve had in a long time. Those were going to be holiday gifts for my mom.
So we’ll start over with a different company. Maybe a smaller one that doesn’t bait and switch customers.

My wife and I have been Bean customers for decades. I have Maine Hunting Shoes and sweaters that I have worn for more than twenty years. My wife had a Maine Warden’s jacket that she wore every winter for many years. We have bought and received as gifts many other Bean products over the years.
We are done doing business with this company as the result of an experience I just had. I bought a pair of Bean winter boots on eBay, They arrived in new condition with the tags attached. I wore them yesterday in the woods for the first time, and they disintegrated in a way I have never seen in a lifetime of buying and selling outdoor footwear.
Per a “Customer Service” (sic) rep in Freeport, I am SOL because I did not buy them directly from Bean.
