Poor support

The product has worked well over 5 years but now a couple of receivers have died and Lloytron have no consumer support. Their support is only for trade customers. I now am forced to buy a competitive replacement brand but one with UK support but that is challenging too. China seems to have commandeered the market but I am still searching

Awful customer service, no manufacturer’s warranty… Dodgey!!

I purchased a 20L catering urn from Booker LTD about 3 months ago. Today I came into work and after about half hour of the urn heating up (with plenty of water in it) it suddenly stopped heating.

I checked the instructions and it said to turn the unit off for about 2 minutes and then when it’s turned back on, the safety switch should be reset, allowing it to boil again.

When this didn’t happen, I contacted Lloytron’s customer services and opened a ticket. Mark explained that he could send me a new switch but that I’d have to get a qualified electrician to fix it. He said that if I want an exchange I’d have to approach Booker LTD, and that there was no manufacturer warranty on the urn. I asked him if the part was free, and he didn’t answer me but instead closed my ticket and stopped communicating with me.

STAYWARM Electric blanket supplied by Lloytron u/s as is their customer support.

I bought a double electrical blanket for my guest bed earlier in the year, but when my visitor came to use it last week it wasn't working. It had not been used before. I tried all the connections , wiring etc., checked the instructions manual online. Still no joy. I tried to separate the hand-controller from the blanket, but no joy here, either. The response I got from their help-desk is dis-spiriting - see below:

If the blanket is no longer working it is because the hand controller has been left on the electric blanket during use or near another heater. This has blown the safety device inside the controller that protects the blanket, rendering the blanket inoperable.
The controller is detached from the blanket at the connection point to the blanket by lifting the tab and then pulling the plug from the socket.
However, this wont remedy the fact the blanket is no longer operational.""

The tab referred to is very difficult to raise sufficiently but eventually I managed to separate it.
Sadly, I can't find my original receipt and hadn't registered for a Warranty. It is not worth spending any more time pursuing my legal consumer rights, but the tepid response from customer should serve as a warning to anyone contemplating buying similar products that have been supplied by Lloytron.

Inexpensive brand been around for years

Bought a couple of Lloytron radios ('Entertainer' and 'Sports') as presents for a couple of elderly friends who wanted me to sort them out with a house radio and one to take on holiday so they could listen to live football commentary. I remember the brand back from the 1980s as cheap but reliable. They love them and use them all the time. Used to be found in many independent electrical retailers but no so easy now but found them on Amazon.

No Extended Warranty or Customer Service

I have recently bought a Lloytron steam iron and have tried to register it for the advertised 2 year extended warranty.
When I completed all the information on the Lloytron website, attached proof of purchase and clicked on the Submit button I just got presented with a blank registration form again (three attempts). No acknowledgement of submission or email response in 2 weeks (junk mail checked).
Looked for a means to contact customer services by phone/email, only to find a FAQ on the website saying these services are no longer available, due to outsourcing!
I would give a 1-star review, but the iron (so far) is working fine.

I recently bought a charger made by…

I recently bought a charger made by this company. I wanted to know some details as to whether it was faulty given my experience, the manual was entirely unsatisfactory in this respect. They have no phone helpdesk. Their customer webpage was no use at all and would not let me complete a ticket. Wasted an hour, will now go to the retailer and get my money back.

I bought a Rechargeable Spotlight Model…

I bought a Rechargeable Spotlight Model D1001BK which was excellent until the battery failed to hold its charge and now it lasts about 5 minutes before going flat and you cant replace the battery as they are not available. I was very disappointed as it had an excellent beam while it lasted.

I bought a Lloytron Door chime system…

I bought a Lloytron Door chime system some years ago which developed a fault. As it was out of warranty rather than just buying a completely new system I contacted Lloytron Customer Service to help me identify the problem. I found the Customer Service very efficient and professional and replacement parts were readily available.
It is refreshing to be able to deal with a Customer Service team where the staff actually have a good knowledge of the company's products.
