This morning I found my main door locked. The key got stuck, the whole mechanism was jammed. I could not get in / out of the house.

I gave a call to LockSub and within less than an hour the help arrived. Tzeggai was helping me out - he quickly came up with the way to unlock the jammed latch. Which was great - the door could be opened in 10 seconds, there was no damage. He then further found the issue with the latch itself, drove to a shop, bought a new one, disassembled rather sophisticated door mechanism and replaced the mechanism.

I am impressed with great service - attitude, turn around time, quality, confidence and humour alongside of course. This is great service, which I definitely recommend.

Marian changed my lock super quickly. He was very polite and efficient

Marian fitted two new internal door star locks to our AirBNB today. We asked if he could somehow manage to make the lock fit so the door closed without any gaps, the door hadn’t been constructed as well as it could have been by a previous carpenter. We were absolutely over the moon with the results. Marian was on time, polite, left the place spotless and his workmanship is top quality. We would highly recommend.

I enjoyed the interaction with Adam when he came to change my lock. He was prompt, helpful and took a cheery, friendly tone which lifted my day. Andrew

LockSub were wonderful! My long-running problem where my son and husband lost the keys to our garage storage space was solved in a heartbeat. Where some useless “locksmith” that visited before told me I’d need a new garage door, LS man drilled out the lock, replaced it in minutes, giving me 3 keys and access to my garage space now! I’d gladly recommend them and their prices are very fair too. A great company.

Although locksub did indeed get us into our house I feel totally duped by their staff. I had locked myself out and called asking for the cost of getting me back in my house. I was comfortable with the price quoted and asked them to send someone straight away. However, after being let into the property I was presented with a third cost of an additional £79 which had not been mentioned on the phone. I feel my misfortune was taken advantage of and the company behaved in an unethical manner. I'm truly disgusted.

****post the below response**** I'm grateful that it has been acknowledged that I wasn't provided with the full cost breakdown even after asking for the full costs. It has been said that I cut off the conversation, however I believe it is the duty of the company to ensure full understanding of costs, I clearly had to provide my full address and provided directions after this point and argue there was plenty of opportunity to ensure Iwas aware of all costs. As it is the duty of the service provider to provide the full costs to the customer I will seek further guidance from citizens advice and trading standards in line with "the consumer rights act 2015", with regard to hidden fees.

If you are looking for a locksmith please call around after just one more call I have found a company that could have provided the same service for £50 and no hidden costs.

Please also use a locksmith approved by the Master Locksmith Association locksmith.co.uk. Based on their advice their should be no additional call out fee within normal working hours and just the normal hourly fee charged by the company contacted as most locksmith are mobile, outlined on the MSA website under locksmith fees Whereas locksub are charging both., despite not quoting both at the initial exchange.

***I hope other people find the amended reply from locksub as patronising and condescending as is clearly intended and look for a company who are willing to own their mistake rather than attempt to belittle their customers. We are all, after all, human, and it is never the mistake but how it is dealt with that defines the type of person and business you are dealing with ***

Yesterday I had a lock installed at the house. I was told the cost would be £59 for labour and materials would be on top. The locksmith came promptly, was polite and fitted the lock. He brought with him a card reader so I had to pay immediately. Later I contacted the company to ask why I had paid £86.40 for a lock which costs £9.88 at tool station. I did not receive a response so chased a second time. No response. I can only assume this company uses underhand tactics in its charging and strongly recommend people to use a more honest company.

Edited to add, as of May 2023 I have been in contact with the new owner of LockSub and offered a good will payment to compensate for my previous bad experience, as they try to turn the business around. I want to believe it’s a genuine offer from someone wanting to make good, so have increased my star rating from 1 to 4 based on this recent development.

My key jammed in the back door lock of my property on the Saturday morning of the recent Bank Holiday weekend. The door itself is still under guarantee, but I couldn’t call the installers until the Tuesday because of the BH, so I called someone I thought was a local locksmith (local number and apparent physical address) but turns out he was not local as such as the number was diverted to Lock Sub’s national hub. Anyway, he arrived, declared the Ultion lock faulty and unfit for purpose (unlikely tbh) and needed to be replaced (didn’t even attempt to do anything before drilling). He disappeared, returned with a lock I later discovered can be purchased from Screwfix for £10.99 and which has vastly inferior security to the Ultion, despite telling me it was almost as good. It also doesn’t match the hardware of the door, and is a poor fit, which he was supposed to be returning to remedy, but of course he did not, and surprise surprise his phone goes to voicemail with no call back. He was working for 10 minutes and charged me £513. He also rather suspiciously took the old lock and keys away with him, so I am now unable to make a claim with the installers as they need to return the barrel to Ultion to verify his diagnosis. I have made a complaint to the MLA via their website and will keep going until I get somewhere with this as it has been a very poor experience, especially so at the moment when so many people, including myself, are struggling financially.

Unfortunately, my door installation company have disputed and dismissed the report you complied for them, in the absence of the return of the faulty lock, and have made it clear to me the new one invalidates my 10 year guarantee with them. So, financially I am back to square one (minus square one in fact). I do however appreciate the courteous and professional efforts you personally went to to resolve the situation. The whole thing has now been handed over to a third party.

The lock fell off the front door which then couldn’t be shut let alone locked. I had a long look at the lock myself but parts were broken and I couldn’t see an easy fix without full replacement. Marian turned up on time (and rang to confirm he was 15 mins away). He was polite and just got on with fixing the problem. Instead of taking the easy route of just putting on a new and hence expensive replacement he somehow fixed the broken parts (pretty impressive as the snapped parts were metal). All sorted in a relatively short time and saved a lot of money by repairing rather than replacing. I would certainly recommend Marian as a lock smith!

Mine was not an urgent call and I made that plain during the telephone call. However they said that they would be with me in a couple of hours. The job was done professionally. However I am extremely shocked at the pricing. Call out fee £59 + VAT. Labor £59 + VAT for less than an hours work.

I needed a new Gearbox £155 + VAT Later priced at £19.99

and a new barrel £45 + VAT Later priced at £13.99
I would definitely not recommend this company and will be warning all my friends and family to avoid them at all costs. my total bill was £381 to have a new gearbox and barrel fitted. I am appalled.
