Dirty pool

I have just had a pool delivered. Everything seemed as it should and in good working order. However on blowing up the pool we discovered that there was blood down one side. We called made in water and was asked to send photos via email. We then received a very prompt phone call back from a gentleman trying to tell my husband it was dye from the bag and to simply wipe it off. I had to explain to him that I was an A&E nurse and know what blood is and to quite frankly not patronise me by telling me it’s not blood. On asking him how the pools are sanitised in line with infection prevention and control guidelines he could not provide me with an answer. I am more upset with the fact that the gentleman tried telling me it isn’t possibly blood and the lack of a decent apology. I have asked for this item to be collected and for a full refund.

Horrible, rude customer service.

Was charged for next day delivery and waited in for this. After waiting most of the day I contacted the company only to find out that this had not even been sent. I was told by them that as my due date was weeks away should not be an issue. That is not the point, you do not charge for a service you will not provide. I have asked for confirmation that this has now being sent but they cannot provide any information. Have asked for a refund but doubt it will be coming.

Would never reccomend this company to anyone.

Loads of failed pickups

Very similar experience to the other reviewer. Our pool was fine, but the collection after the birth was a joke.

We had about five or six failed DPD pickups even though we were in. Total waste of time. Every time we had to call Made in Water to rearrange in order to make sure that we wouldn't get charged for the failed pickup. On top of this, we were then also told that we had to send an email to explain the situation. We also called DPD to leave our number and a detailed description of how to find us (even though no one else struggles, including DPD whenever they deliver something) -- still no luck.

Eventually Made in Water arranged for ParcelForce to come and collect, and this has now worked, finally.

Made in Water might of course say that it is a problem with DPD, but this is unacceptable. Sending these items back is a big part of the customer experience, and it is ludicrous that a more reliable setup is not provided. Especially given that their customers tend to have a newborn on their hands, so lots of other things to worry about.

If I could turn back time I would very much try to avoid this company.

It may not concern many other people as Made in Water in an email told us that they'll close down the pool hire part of their business shortly due to such complaints. If they can't provide a better service, that is definitely the right decision.

Faulty Equipment and Appalling Customer Service

Planning a home birth? Avoid madeinwater at all costs.

We were supplied a 'new' birth pool and accessories from madeinwater. We tested the pool prior as required, but on the day the 'brand new' thermometer they supplied did not work. Our midwives would not let us use the pool as precise temperature control is critical. On explaining this to madeinwater customer services they told us the midwives were incorrect and that we would not get a refund. Amazed, I asked if the customer service adviser was in any way medically qualified, he said 'No, but lots of people don't hire with a thermometer, are you telling me they are wrong?'. This was only the start of our problems.

Here's is an exert for the NCT website:
"Keep the temperature of the water at or below 37ºC at all times (35º-37º is optimum during the first stage of labour and 37º-37.5º during the second). If you become overheated it can cause distress to the baby and discomfort to you."

Then when it came to organising return of the pool things just got worse and worse. We have been waiting now for 5 days for collection of the pool from DPD. Everyday we wait in, everyday we get a cancelled collection. They are unable to find our house... a house on a suburban street in London. Easily googleable.

Madeinwater's solution. Just keep rebooking the same company over and over again. We've even sent screen shots of the front of the house to them. Again, failed collection.

We opted for home birth as the less stressful route, this company has made our experience a complete nightmare. From the faulty equipment and arrogant customer service, to the ongoing botched collection. My advice is to avoid this company at all costs.

UPDATE: We’ll you can see their reply below, it’s only taken them 4 months. A company that supplies faulty equpment and then tries to wriggle their way out of it. Our midwife was using the thermometer to measure the temperature of my birthing wife, and I refused to give out her details as I didn’t have her consent. NHS midwives work hard enough without being pestered by incompetent customer services staff. Notice they don’t deny the thermometer was faulty.

We waited in almost a week with our newborn, every day expecting collection between 9-5pm. Every day it failed. These guys thought it was acceptable to just keep re-booking and re-booking, making excuses. I did also complain to DPD.

You can decide who has the nasty attitude here, the unrepentant company supplying faulty goods and making false accusations or the frustrated consumer who still has not had an apology or any form of compensation.

Truly the worst customer experience of my entire life, I deeply regret ever using these people’s services.

Reply from Made in Water

This person contacted us AFTER they had finished with the hired pool. It is a fact that midwives carry thermometers, so the excuse of a faulty thermometer, for a full refund, after use, was not acceptable. We wanted to speak to their midwife, but they refused to give contact info. It was very clear to us that this person wanted something for nothing, as he kept threatening us.
Very nasty attitude.

DPD did fail to collect a couple of times, unfortunately, we have no control over them.
Couriers, as we know, are not 100% reliable.
Perhaps he should have posted the second part of his complaint on their website....
