The hire car at BARI AIRPORT a Lancia…

The hire car at BARI AIRPORT a Lancia Ypsilon had 10 more dents and scratches than on the paperwork. Red flag... Got them to add them to the contract. Checked the oil, water etc before I drove away. NO ENGINE OIL!!! COMPLETELY DRY. CAR NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE... UNSAFE...
When ask the staff about the hire car checks, they replied no checks are made only if the oil light, coolent light etc comes on!!! By this time the car engine would have seized and you have a €6,000 bill to pay plus leaving broken down in the 45°c heat. For £650 a week Maggiore staff/management it should be checked. UNSAFE VEHICLES THEY ARE HIRING TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC!!! STAFF IN THE COLLECTION POINT AT BARI AIRPORT... RUDE & USELESS. You Italians can't hire a car correctly how can your country go forward/advance, you can't even get that right... SCAMMING CUSTOMERS FOR UN DAMAGED VEHICLES... SHAME ON YOU ITALIANS RIPPING TOURISTS OFF EVERY DAY/ WEEK AND MONTH.
DO NOT USE MAGGIORE/BUDGET OR AVIS AT BARI AIRPORT!!!
ZERO OUT OF TEN...

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. We collected our car and were told it had no damge. We inspected and found lots and were told not to worry about it. They reluctantly gave us the paper work to mark the damage. After returning the car they tried to suggest we have caused all the damge we had videoed and noted before driving away. They then removed £500 from our account with no explanation. When I sent the video evidence to prove the damge was old I was ignored. I'm now taking legal action as they have tried to scam a tourist!

Great Experience

Contrary to almost all other reviews, we had a great experience with Maggiore at Verona Airport. Everything to collection to drop off was professional and efficient with no extra charges and we were given the same car that we had originally book for.

Very poor organization

People I had a chance to interact were all nice people and willing to help and tried to do what they could in all situations. But it seems company in general struggles terribly with some sort of deep organisational issues. For example they would call me in, I miss a call, I call back immediately and they have no idea why they call me as it seems my call goes to different office than the incoming call. So I would have to wait hoping that the person who called me will call again with the important information. I had an unfortunate situation where I had to call Maggiore to organize road service to tow the car away (the fact that car had to be towed away was my personal mistake / accident). It was a nightmare to get road service organized as between me and the road service driver there was unknown number of corporate layers - by share luck 2hrs late already to when it should had arrived I managed to chase up the road service truck driving around town unable to find the location. Week later after whole ordeal after a car was taken away - I received a call asking when I'm planning to to return the car!!?? They organised to tow car away and I asked if over phone if I'll need to to anything they confirmed that after car is taken they'll be taking care of it. Yet week later they appear to have no knowledge about the fact. Person on call was sincere and apologised about it and I don't really have anything against any person of the staff I had interacted. But whole situation is beyond embarrassing. It's a very poorly managed company. Also I think important to mention is that the car I was promised online ("or similar") and the car I got - was not really similar. As I requested a 4x4 mini-SUV yet I received a regular hatchback (I can't consider this as "similar") - that said whom to blame here I don't know as I had placed my order over rentalcars.com it might be that this website lies about cars.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT BOOK THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!!!!!!
We rented a car in December 2022, we were charged a deposit of about 100 euros for fuel, if we return the car with a full tank, then the money is returned to the card.
It's been more than two months, no one returned the money,
They also took 30 euros from the card a month later. And 0.10 euros a week after.
Never again, the worst company ever.

Do not use Maggiore car rental!

I do not recommend to use Maggiore car rental to anyone who is considering renting a car in Italy.
We got a car that was dirty, they don't care about cleaning the car before renting it.
We had an accident we haven't caused. I understand that the insurance claim takes time to handle, but no one would contact us within three months to inform about the stage. We had to call, write emails, filled in forms ... and still it was really painful to get any information from their contact center.
Maggiore does not put the number of the car plate you are renting on the contract they sign with you. After we returned the car and finally went through the accident claim, they tried to charge us for damage on a car we even haven't had rented!
We are still waiting for closing this case and getting back our deposit.
We definitely don't recommend to rent with Maggiore. The worse experience we've ever had.

Never again Maggiore
booking online for 10 days renting a small car 340 eur with insurance, at the airport in Catania they charged 800 eur, saying nonsense that additional insurance is necessary, the complaint has been going on for 8 months, they do not respond to emails.
Don't get close to them

This service is total scam.

This service is total scam.
I booked the rental service though vipcars and when i went to Maggiore to pick the reservation and get the car i was expecting to pay around 100 euro but the final bill was over 140.
I asked for resignation from the contract and the agent said there will be some fees or penalties to be paid.
Therefore it wasn't convenient neither to quit.

This is unacceptable.

Service support? Completely useless.
Delivering answers only to fit the KPI timing but not solving my case. Ticket is open since 3 weeks, still waiting for answer.

Worst car rental experience I’ve ever…

Worst car rental experience I’ve ever have had and very unprofessional customer service. They charged our credit card twice and then it took them over a month to pay it back. When they payed it back they actually payed back both charges. A couple of months later they sent us a debt collection claim for one of our charges including interest and admin fees. The company is either very incompetent or just plain rogue. Even though they seem like a cheaper alternative compared to other rental places please don’t choose this company when renting your next car.

DO NOT BOOK THEM, they made me signed a contract by lying to my face that it was a deposit! They took advantage of me coming late at night bullshitimg. They said in their company they only charge and refund back at the end of the rental LIE !!! They charge me 370 euros with booking + 425 euros of “deposit” i lost my charge backs and that’s because of what they make you sign ! Italian SCAMMERS !!

This morning after 3 months THEY CHARGED ME AGAIN 50 euros ! I had to cancel my card, I can’t believe it ! LEAVE ME ALONE SCAMMERS

MAGGIORE RENTAL IS A SCAM

Every year, when going to Italy I used to rent from Hertz and never had any problems or issues I did rent from Hertz for close to 30 years every summer. In 2022 I did not reserve from Hertz and one of my relatives suggested renting from Maggiore car rental in Cassino (FR) for a week. I was quoted a price which included a 100 euro deposit. When I returned the car less than a week later, Ambra, the clerk working at the car rental agency said the deposited would be credited back on my credit card within a few days.
She said the bill would be emailed to me within a few days. A week passed, then a month passed and I started making telephone calls to Italy trying to get my 100 euros deposit back. I was able to get her on the phone and she said she had to go and would call me back- she never did. I tried to call her on her cellphone and she does not answer; tried to call on the agency phone and they never answer. I had my relative call her and she says that she did everything the way she was supposed to. So far I am out the 100 euros and i don’t even have the final bill so that I could go to the credit card company.
In reading the other reviews, I have realized that this is the way Maggiore Car Rental works in Italy, not just in Cassino, this is its modus operandi.
STAY AWAY FROM MAGGIORE? THEY WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

I've booked an Audi a3 or similar for 6…

I've booked an Audi a3 or similar for 6 days and paid the total of £353 when I've booked, once arrived at Bergamo airport they told me they didn't have the Audi and they had a fiat500. Now tell me how is possible that a fiat500 is in the same group as an Audi ? I'm sure it shouldn't.
Never mind also that I've been asking if it possible to give deposit with debit card before arriving and they told me yes and then at the airport they told me no...

After even more joke we had to catch a bus for go to collect the car and we had to wait 20 mins for the bus... why we book a car at the airport for be fast and save time if after we need to still wait for the bus??

Never again in my life with them, no also forgetting that they gave me a broken car and had to go to Verona to swap to another car

SCAM

SCAM. We have rented a car for two days from the airport in Florence . We picked it up at 6pm, after the dawn. Noone cane with us to check the car, so we took sate stamped photos of the scratches that we’ve seen.
We have dropped it off in La Spieza and on the return we were really suprised to be charged 160 euros for a scratch, which was clearly shown on the picture when we took the car. The guy dismissed our evidence completely and openly admitted that it’s because we didn’t take the insurance with them and with another company.
The car was dirty when we took it, and the guy working there, Marco, tried to charge us 50 euros for the clean.
AVOID at all cost, not worth the stress

The worst car rental experience we had

The worst car rental experience we had. Very rude and unprofessional officer at the Milan (Bergamo) airport.

We booked a Jeep Renegade(SUV) and instead of this the gave an Audi A3 hatchback as similar. Keep in mind that we were 4 adults with luggage.

Dont Use Maggiore…

We hired a car expensively for 8 days in Sicily from Maggiore during September 2022. When we returned the car one of the wheel trims was scratched. The cost of a new wheel trim for that model of Panda was 24 Euro. Maggiore charged 64 Euro for repairing the damage ie flip off the scratched wheel trim flip on a new one. A reasonable charge in all the circumstances but then added on 57 Euro for "loss of use" ( a joke?) and 46 Euro administrative charge making a total of 167 Euro. I will never use Maggiore again and nor should you
