Magnet are a complete mess, avoid at all costs!

I ordered a kitchen in Jan 2021 after being lured in by deals. A summary of the issues:
- Lots of wasted time. The first plan apparently didn't fit with the space when the pre-fit survey came, then they wanted an extra ~£1,000 to rectify this!
- Poor communication between online and store teams meaning I had to be on the phone with the team almost every day to fix the errors
- The team kept 'getting the price wrong' and revising it higher and higher (I still don't see how this makes and sense, other than blatant extortion)
- Despite the pre-fit survey and revised plan with added costs, the final kitchen STILL DIDN'T FIT
- Magnet added 3 units and associated doors & end panels (not cheap) onto the bill which were not part of the agreed floor plan! I am still trying to sort out the collection and refund of these, but Magnet are ignoring this. Unfortunately the builders started unpacking all items when they arrived so I can't even return it all

Ultimately, it's been a complete headache. Expect disorganization, delays and hidden costs!

Our kitchen was a slightly long and wide galley but poorly designed. We didn't really need an extension, just a better layout that worked for us. Our trusted builder sent me to meet Anna at the Magnet trade side in Highams Park (Chingford branch). I had agonized over the design I wanted for a very long time and took that to her. I fully expected to be talked out of it and into something which maximized worktops and had clean lines etc.

To my relief, Anna completely understood my vision instantly. It was quirky and not to everyone's taste, but really worked for our family and how we use our kitchen and fit in with the style of our home. She came up with custom solutions to maximize clever storage spaces, ensured we got a great price and offered honest and useful advice on things such as appliances and taps. She let us borrow samples to see them in the space to make sure the colours worked in our lighting. She even accommodated us having a last minute change of heart on the handles. The end result is beautiful and brings my vision to life. Most importantly, it is absolutely perfect for our family.

Our kitchen feels drastically larger than before and is a dream to use. We chose wooden worktops and the Somerton timber in-frame doors in fern. The quality is lovely and although more expensive, we still think it was worth it for the timeless classic feel we wanted in our period home. I'd happily recommend working with Anna at the Chingford branch to get the kitchen you want.

Yeovil branch of Magnet Trade were brilliant. Had an issue with an appliance (manufacturer's issue - not Magnet's) and the two Nicks over there (Mgr and Sales staff) couldn't have been more helpful. They offered pragmatic solutions that were fair to both parties and acted quickly on what was agreed. Can't ask for more and will definitely use them again as the service was fantastic.

I was really impressed with Chessie at the Exeter store because she was so helpful with designing my kitchen. I changed my mind about the design, handles, inclusion of shelves etc. several times and she was extremely patient. She supplied updated designs really quickly and even managed to incorporate elements of my existing kitchen such as the dresser I wanted to keep and my blue cake mixer.

We had many changes to our design and Steve was very patient and accommodated all our requests and ideas to ensure we are fully satisfied with it.

His professional manner advising my clients, and sorting out any requests they have, makes my job to run smoothly and trouble free. Billy is always friendly and very helpful, and will go that extra mile to make sure my clients and I have a pleasant experience with the ordering and aftercare service. Billy is just a phone call away and ready to assist if clients change their mind for any reason, or if I need something urgently.

From start to finish my experience was a shambles, I would never use Magnet again, nor recommend them.

Kitchen design experience was OK, I had the basic layout I wanted, small kitchen and small budget so little room for creativity.

I decided to try Magnet after seeing an offer online, the pricing feels like a scam, because I went to Magnet Trade, I couldn’t have the offer, but I could have 66% off trade prices (I’m not trade) this seemed like a fantastic offer on face value, however prices have been bumped up, so that they can be discounted.

The kitchen seemed extremely expensive for a handful of units, I pared the cost right back by removing worktops, sink and even cupboard handles, and supplied all my own appliances.

I was having a boiler fitted and wanted a wall unit to fit around it, I decided to leave this out of the quote, and measure up once the boiler was fitted.

I needed a kitchen quickly, so placed the order and paid upfront, I was given a 4 week delivery date, which felt OK, (was hoping for quicker), I decided to collect to save £50.
I was then advised that a number of items would be a further 4 weeks, on investigation these were just door fronts and kickboards so accepted this, I was provided with a temporary corner post to allow me to set out).

I collected the first batch and found I had missing items, extra items (sides from wall cupboard I had asked to be removed), extra hinges (not cheap), somebody else’s door (cream not white), and damaged items. I returned to the store to sort this all out, the missing items had to be ordered, adding to my items outstanding.

I fitted the kitchen, had the boiler fitted and measured up for the cupboard, thought I would look at other suppliers, managed to get 2 units for less than the single unit I had been quoted, plus they were delivered within 7 working days. The quality is equal if not better, and the slab matt white matched perfectly, very happy with these. (should have done this I first place!!)

The remainder of my order arrived, with a door was missing, I kept ringing the store to find out what was happening, my calls were never returned, finally I was advised that the door was lost and would have to be re-ordered, delivery date 16th December, I spoke with the store manager and agreed to have the other items delivered immediately for free, and the final door delivered once it arrived.

I called the store on 16th December, the delivery had arrived but they couldn’t find the door, again I rang daily but my calls were never returned, finally I was told on 23rd Dec that they had my door, I asked for it to be delivered as agreed, waited to hear back, again no returned call. I called on 24th December only to find the store had closed for Christmas with my door locked inside.

I logged a complaint with Magnet Head Office, explained to their customer services rep that I would go and collect if somebody would open up, I was told all she could do was log it in “the system”.

Christmas passed with one door missing, on the 27th I received a call from the manager Ian who offered to drop the door off on his way home, which of course I accepted, why this couldn’t have happened before Christmas is beyond me. Over 3 months from order until fully received!!
Magnet quickly need to improve their quotation system, stock handling, communication, management and customer service, otherwise they will go bust, there are plenty of new online companies ready to step in.

I have had bought my Kitchen from Magnet in 2003 and in 2020 I just wanted to upgrade it with the worktop and appliances. The then store manager sorted some minor issues then so I went back to them for upgrade. Steve at Staples Corner, helped me with the upgrade now. I have had previous interaction with Steve about a year ago so I insisted I be served by him again. He provided a great service then and he provided it again this time round. Steve followed up with the delivery and phoned me with the updates. When the items didn't arrive in store on the scheduled date he chased it up with other stores where he could get it by the next day and he succeeded. Despite the COVID period I got the items only a day after the schedule date all due to Steve's great service. I’ll definitely go back when upgrading/changing my kitchen.

Steve at Magnet, Staples Corner, provided a great service. I’ll definitely go back when changing my kitchen again. He helped me recheck measurements of the integrated unit I wanted to order and suggested alternatives. He spent a great deal of time with me, with follow up emails to ensure the item was right. Couldn’t recommend Steve more and the unit is lovely also.

We have dealt with Laura regarding all of our kitchens for our customers she is always professional and has a lovely manner about her. Nothing is ever to much, she has personally gone above and beyond for us and our customers. She is a huge asset to her company! Highly recommend

We purchased a kitchen from the Gloucester branch from Laura Bremer and she has given us superb service, turning up when the delivery arrived to check we had all we needed and then today driving from the office to deliver us a new fridge after we were let down by another supplier. Kitchen is superb, but the service from Laura was first class-well done.

I never leave reviews but felt I needed to. I am so pleased with my magnet kitchen and despite shopping around I was drawn to Magnet Gloucester due to the fact that the staff were so friendly and accommodating, they were also patient and despite planning and wanting some adjustments they made sure it was perfect. Laura Bremer was an absolute dream to work with. She made sure that right from planning our dream kitchen all the way through the renovation we were happy and we were kept at ease knowing that it was all in hand. Laura was at the end of the phone and even came in to see how it was all going. I definitely felt like she was my right hand man the whole way through. I would definitely recommend Laura from the Gloucester office to anyone who was thinking of purchasing a kitchen, she definitely goes above and beyond in such a personal and friendly manner. Great experience at Magnet - Elmers End. Jamie was really helpful in assisting us despite knowing that our kitchen had been purchased at another branch.

The excellent sales and aftercare service we received from Daniel and Greg at the Leatherhead branch has been unbeatable.

Daniel designed the kitchen perfectly with every spare bit of space utilised for storage.

The after sales service at Magnet Leatherhead is amazing. There was a small 20mm dimension discrepancy with one of the 800 wall units in our utility area which would have prevented the planned full height door from fitting. I spoke to Daniel who reassured me and sorted my problem out straight away and ordered slightly shorter doors and an infill panel for above the space above the doors and switched the doors within a couple of working days without any hassle. There were no issues from sale through to completion just great customer service which will no doubt result in future recommendation and work!

I just can NOT believe how useless magnet are! It’s beyond a JOKE! 4 times in 9 years you have sent me invoices for items I’ve never had, and you know it. Mistakes happen.... BUT 4 times is a F***ing joke! Currently although for the forth time I’m told you messed up again, you continue to keep sending invoices for something you know I DID NOT HAVE!

You tell me its sorted and a MISTAKE, BUT NOW IM GETTING THREATENED WITH LEGAL ACTION FROM SOLICITORS! For something you know I HAVE NOT HAD!

Absolutely disgraceful unprofessional company! Even magnets top management & credit control and there own solicitors haven’t a clue what’s going on after 6 weeks of hounding me with useless office staff invoice mistakes and solicitor letters they know ARE SENT IN ERROR! But still you keep sending them!

I will never use you or recommend you! But I will tell all to AVOID after my appalling experience.

The after sales service at Magnet Hedge End Southampton is amazing. I had a problem with two of my cabinet doors and was very worried that my kitchen was ruined. I contacted Dale who reassured me and sorted my problem out straight away. Thank you so much. That's what I call excellent after sales service.

Cassie Pittaway from Sevenoaks was absolutely lovely to deal with. Very good communication and professional service. We were unable to go ahead with the kitchen. However all I can say is that if you are dealing with Cassie you are in safe hands.
