A company that doesn’t even follow their own contracts. Avoid avoid avoid

Honestly if I could give Makeup by Jodie 0 stars I would.

I agreed with the team that we will have a makeup trial on the day of my legal ceremony due to time constraints as I’m moving abroad and everything was rushed, all parties agreed that this was still a trial for our major wedding reception next August. Unfortunately I wasn’t happy with the service provided at all. The artist was 30 minutes late which made me late to the legal ceremony, I asked for a very simple look and wasn’t given that at all, was given a full on insta-esque glam with eyebrows that were so so full on when I’ve already got pretty thick eyebrows. I couldn’t get the hair style I wanted even though I was told to purchase the accessories needed because of how late we were running.

After a few days thinking about it, I decided this is definitely not what I want for my big day next year so requested a refund as per their own T&Cs. Initially my email was ignored until I had to chase and at the last minute was told “actually it wasn’t really a trial though was it since you got married that day” so no refund will be issued.

Honestly avoid them at all costs. I’ll be taking them to small claims court as they went against their own contractual obligations when all of this could have easily been avoided if they told me it would have to be a standalone session rather than a trial, which I would’ve happily paid for. £286 for a look that wasn’t even what I requested and that didn’t stay on past 4pm is simply not on considering that was a % of the full service for bride + one another person.

I booked make up by Jodie back in October 2022 for my wedding in August 2023. I had to chase to arrange my trial. My trial was a disaster. My stylist arrived late to the location, a closed dark and cold salon, and did not make me or my friends welcome.
No consultation regarding looks occurred. She looked over the pictures I provided and completely disregarded them. My friends had to intervene as her first attempt was horrifying.
I fed this back to makeup by jodie directly. Their response was quick and efficient but did not care about my experience, just reassured me the artist was highly popular and experienced.
When I confirmed my wish to cancel they were rude, initially suggesting that my wedding was months away yet so further contact with the stylist was unneccessary despite a disaster of a trial and they also refused to compensate me.
I did have to ask for a copy of their T&C’s so I could seek advice and guidance, before they agreed to pay in full what I paid the stylist.
I did lose my deposit but that is better than putting my faith in them to provide a service on the biggest day of my life!

Do not recommend- hugely disappointed…

Do not recommend- hugely disappointed bride.
My wedding has been cancelled numerous times due to COVID. I had a trial 3 days before my wedding (which I had to chase to get booked! The artist wanted it the day before my wedding- this is obviously stressful). I had to complete a 6 hour round trip for this as the artist was too busy to travel away from home. I offered a mid point destination which was declined. I was very disappointed with the trial and would need to be doing my own lipstick because she didn't have several different shades to choose from, and my own eyeliner as she was unable to complete winged eyeliner evenly. I showed her pictures of hair styles, she said most of them were unrealistic as they were done in professional studios- I thought I was paying for a professional?
The wedding was cancelled the day before due to new COVID restrictions- I have asked for a refund as per their terms and conditions- if you are not happy after the trial you can get a refund minus the cost of the trial. I had to send emails to chase to get a response and I was eventually offered half the money I had paid the artist, which excluded the deposit. The government has now sent updated guidelines which states you can have your money back from cancelled COVID weddings including any 'non-refundable' deposits.
I have sent them this guidance and asked for my refund however have had no reply.
They were very quick to email to get my money, now I'm requesting a refund as per government guidelines it seems very difficult to get a response!
I have paid the deposit, the full price of hair and make up for me and my mum and the artist's travel to the venue- none of which has happened.
I was hugely disappointed with the hair and make up standard given the cost, and now the unnecessary stress of having to chase for my money rightfully back.
Save yourself the disappointment! Do not book with this company.

Very disappointed with Jodie Hair &…

Very disappointed with Jodie Hair & makeup and would not recommend.

I was meant to get married on 14th August 2020 but due to covid restrictions was unable to use the services that I had paid for to Jodie Hair & makeup. I contacted the team a number of times, to come to a resolution that worked for both sides on the monies paid, each time I contacted the team I was told a manager would call. Months went by and still no manager called me - I even posted on their social pages, but I was just ignored.

Therefore, after months, I had no option but to contact my bank, who gave me a full refund via a chargeback.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS SUPPLIER!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS SUPPLIER!! Absolutely awful service, I provisionally booked my hair and makeup and read the t&cs which stated I could change my mind within 3 days and receive 100% refund and this was reassuring as I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to book yet as was recieving quotes from various suppliers and Jodie seemed good. The receptionist kept emailing me suggesting my wedding date was going to be booked but wanted to let me know first, however this rushed my thoughts and I paid 30% deposit but I knew if I changed my mind in 3 days I could have a refund as per t&cs I had in an email! But no..... took my money AND CHANGED THE T&cs on their website and made me out a liar! I’ve actually reported them as they are conning people out of hard earned money of their wedding budget! The receptionist said I could have my money and it was fine by email, but one month later I got and email from Jodie saying the refund policy was non refundable! Joke of a company do not use!!!

Poor service and disappointing standard of makeup artists

I unfortunately experienced very poor customer service by Makeup ByJodie. We were charged a large additional fee for makeup assistants that we were told were required to get us ready on time. The assistants turned up 1.5 hours late and rushed the hair and makeup of my bridesmaids. With 2 of my bridesmaids eyelashes falling off and 1s up-do falling out 20 minutes after the ceremony. Completely below standard for the price paid. When I complained to Jodie I was confirmed to have a refund for the additional fees I paid for the assistants however 4 months have passed (with many emails sent to chase) and I have still not received the promised refund.
Whilst email responses from some members of the team have been relatively quick, Jodie has fallen very far short of providing a decent service. I do not believe the make up artists and assistants are of a good enough standard for the price paid. It took up a huge part of our wedding budget and was overall a disappointment.
I do not recommend to book through Makeup By Jodie.

I was very disappointed by the service...

I was very disappointed by the service I’ve received from Make up by Jodie. Throughout the process there has been a lack of responsiveness, and the level of helpfulness really dropped once the initial money had been paid. The make up artist they suggested was also unresponsive, I had to chase several times to get any details. When I went for my trial, she was unwelcoming and disinterested in my wedding and seemed to just give me generic make up rather than what suited me. I asked to cancel afterwards and was told I would get a refund. I then chased several times and a week or so later was told I would not get a refund as it had exceeded the time limit set out by the terms and conditions. I asked for more details, and again had to chase repeatedly to which I finally got a very curt response. I asked whether in the interest of decent customer service and that I had still cancelled over five weeks before for an 8am slot on a Friday, I could be refunded for the service that I would not be receiving. I even asked whether, if the make up artist got another booking for that slot whether I could be refunded. I am still waiting a response. I would not suggest choosing this company because planning your wedding is a stressful time and having this level of poor customer service and experience is not worth it.
