Mamachari is the best bike shop in East London

Mamachari is without a doubt the best bike shop I have ever used in 30 years of cycling. They serviced my Brompton bike a second time and the old bike is like new, immaculately clean and perfectly tuned and lubricated, a pleasure to ride. OK the service costs £100 but for the attention and obvious pride that the guys put into their work and the new pleasure you get from riding, it is worth every penny. Their attention to the customer is exemplary. Worth making a journey across London for these guys...

Great business that go the extra mile

With less than 24 hours notice, and despite being fully booked with services, Mamachari were able to make the time to fix my broken Brompton and make sure it was road worthy.

They also appeared to have given it a little tuneup and corrected the handle grips without me asking, all for a very reasonable price, all things considered.

All in all, excellent customer service and a business I’ll definitely use again - in fact, I’ve already booked a proper service in for next month. Thank you Mamachari!

Experiencing terrible delivery issues

Experienced a lot of issues but mainly as a result of a Dickensian Courier service - Staff at bike shop courteous and helpful but due to delays and non delivery cost me about £ 200 in lost earnings - Courier service told me wrong information - vague delivery slot and kept palming me off or hanging up when I asked them for an ETA - Dreadful

Reply from Mamachari

Hi Jed - I'm truly sorry for the poor experience. We're a small and very busy local bike shop and our main business is in-person sales, service and aftercare.

On this occasion it seems that we and our courier have let you down. For that, I am sorry.

Please be assured that we will do everything possible to make sure that the bike you ordered will get to you on Monday afternoon, as we agreed this morning.

Needless to say we won't be using this courier again.

It was most unfortunate that there was a delay in shipping the bike out in the first place. This was because of the damaged that we discovered to the rear rack prior to packing. Our sole concern throughout the whole process was that you receive the bike in good condition and FULLY checked over.

Replacing the rack and boxing the bike robustly meant that we weren't able to make good on the "2-3 day delivery" stated on our website. We've now changed this to 5-7 days to ensure that we're clear about what our customers can expect from us in future.

I know this won't change the fact that you had to wait in all day yesterday for a courier or for the shoddy service from the courier company, but I hope our response demonstrates our commitment to resolving things when they don't go right and making improvements to our service to address these issues present.

Humbly yours,

Noah

Favourite local bike shop

I've been getting bikes serviced at Mamachari in Walthamstow since they opened. Reliable expert work and friendly service, no surprise extra costs. Probably good to book ahead if possible, they are popular so often very busy.
