I have just collected my 1380 race…

I have just collected my 1380 race prepared engine block. Great attention to detail. Really impressed. Machine shops are getting rarer and rarer these days. It is incredible to find such a well equipped specialist shop capable and willing to do the full job,

Great work guys. Frank

Really impressed with the guys. Always happy to go the extra mile

I found mccs engineering through desperation. After blowing up my tired race engine at an evening session at Donington race circuit I called the company that maintained the engine (at the time) and was told it would be a minimum of 8 weeks to build a new bottom end. I phoned a couple of other names I had read on peoples cars in the paddock, all were too busy, it was mid season so not a complete surprise.

I called mccs engineering. I was told to come in and drop of the old unit "lets see whats salvageable"

I dropped in, I was immediately blown away, these guys have a complete machine shop, not just engine builds. I was informed that the block was ok, the crank would live again and that it was camshaft and timing gears that had taken the brunt of the impact. This meant I could have an engine put together within 2 weeks.

We put a plan together, they said they would be happy to build up an engine using the parts that were OK to get my car out for the next rounds. I also put a deposit down on a fresh build.

That was 2 years ago. I now have the old engine as my "get me out of...." spare and the fresh engine (refreshed each year) as my main power unit.

Really impressed with the guys. Always happy to go the extra mile, whether that is weekend collection, late nights to get my work complete or a little help track side.

The car has had the engine put back in over christmas and will be on the rolling road in February.

Excellent service from start to finish

Excellent service from start to finish. I live in the US and run a couple of classic British cars, I travel to the UK for work several times a year. There are machine shops in the states but to find one with the equipment and experience to work on these engines is very hard. I was directed to MCCS through a friend who races a Sebring Sprite in the states. I am not one that usually shops online and the thought of sending money to the other side of the world, worried me. However a recommendation really helps.

The build took around 4 months, Annoyingly I could not match up a trip to the UK with my build, I had communication at the start, where we picked the state of tune and a few other items. I did not require feedback throughout but received a little prompt here and there. Once the engine was ready for testing I was notified and we started the process of getting the shipping sorted.

MCCS helped with the logistics, organizing the courier and then spending more time than should have been required to make sure it got through our ever changing customs landscape. Many forms later and the engine arrived. It is a true work of art. Installed in December and have managed to enjoy a couple of nice drives already.

Really impressed. I will be passing on the good word and recommending you, as my friend did to me.

I am in the UK for the next few days and hope to visit.

Avoid don't use...more faces than big ben

Took 6k of my money and gave me a scrap engine full of aluminium fragments from a Heli-Coil repair and TDC stamped inaccurately on the front pully for ignition timing.
After speaking with MCCS and there replies to my questions about the build i lost faith.
The engine went to Keith at calver special tuning who revealed a catalogue of problems.
Again be aware of MCCS.

Great skills and facilities

Great skills and facilities.

It has been truly great to find a fully equipped machine shop that also can build engines. All in one building. A few of our club members have used these guys for complete builds, we have used them for machining with great results. We built our own engines but it was great to see the machining works completed and the builds went really well.

I have used machine shops in the past who were good but I feel these, with completing their own builds know what people want. The parts came through chemically cleaned, more or less ready to build. That’s a big time saver for us as we do not have anything more than a hand wash.

When we first met them they only have two members of staff and things seemed slow moving but the last time we went in there was another gentleman there and things just seemed to be flowing a bit nicer for them. Always busy but they seem much happier with the extra man in there.

I gave up

I gave up and cancelled the order for a £10k engine after 8 months, consistently failed to deliver on commitments. After paying a deposit, received NOTHING, no promised power curves, photos of the build....anything at all. Just a stream of broken promises. Avoid!

Big Boots to Fill

First time using them. I used the machine shop they have purchased for many, many years. I was devastated when I was informed that the machine shop would be closing and only met these when collecting some parts that were ready. I am really pleased I met them and have now moved my work over to them. The machining side is very impressive as they have combined the machines with ones they already had. Very friendly staff, very knowledgeable. Happy again knowing I can continue to get my work through.

Be Cautious

I bought pistons from them but after a week they decided to tell me they were out of stock, kept my money for a month I rang and emailed every day. Eventually got my money back

MCCS Formerly A-Series Spares

Unfortunately mccs had enough bites of the cherry at putting failures right however I continue to have problems that are falling on death ears. After looking further into the business it turns out mccs is owned by Mike Stevenson. However I can assure you Rob Stevenson formerly director of a series spares which has endless amounts of bad reviews on here is certainly in charge of the operation at mccs. The company is not what they portray and from my experience up to there old tricks. I can write a book on the issues, excuses and unprofessionalism I've faced.
