W3DR01 pacemaker

I've got a W3DR01 pacemaker installed for Bradycardia in 2022. No problems and responsive action when I needed data due to suspected Afib. Battery life still estimated at 10 years. I do yearly reviews of the data with my cardiologist. I am very happy with the device!

I’ve just spoken to Maria

I’ve just spoken to Maria.
I cannot thank you enough for your incredible instructions for my Medtronic device that has stopped working. Definitely battery issues but she, through amazingly clear instructions read the barcode which linked every detail of the machine to me. She’s posting out a new machine and I will post this one back.
Thank you Maria.

Completely unhelpful

Completely unhelpful. I moved abroad and wanted to get my heart monitor disconnected from servers in the UK so it could be picked up by my cardiologist team in the country I had moved to. I explained clearly that as I was not working I would be unable to call the UK to ask to be disconnected and could this be done via email request. Not once but twice they simply ignored the fact I could not called the UK and just gave me an international number to call. Unbelievably unhelpful to the point of being useless.

I can not trust this company

I can not trust this company.
The plug for "mycarelink relay home communicator 24960" is designed so that I have to find and buy a special adaptor so that my bedside light can share the same power socket. In addtion all the information and manuals are hidden in the packaging and it was pure luck I spotted them. Plus there is no email or phone number for their office.

If the company is not capable to doing these simple things, how can we be sure their product actually works and that they are honest in their privacy statements.
We are told to contact the USA, Netherlands or Canada if we live in the UK and there are problems!!!!!!

Medtronic Needs to revisit its policy of only providing patients data to one contracted provider.

The pacemaker I have is doing a good job for me. But the distribution of my pacemaker’s ongoing data is confined to one Heart Doctor. But I have two doctors because I live in two places. When I asked that the data be sent to an additional doctor, “ I was told they only can send it to one doctor even though I have two heart doctors that monitor my heart. Both doctors do not share the same charting service. It is important that both doctors have the same reports of the functioning of my pacemaker on a timely basis. When I asked why the data could not be sent to both doctors? I was not provided a reasonable answer based on my need for timely care no matter where I am. In my case to receive an MRI my pacemaker needs to be turned off and On while the procedure is done. Both doctors need the data on a timely basis for them to make the decision. How hard would it be to send the data to two doctors at the same time?

My daughter has T1DM and we’ve been…

My daughter has T1DM and we’ve been using Medtronic products for about 3 years. I’m very impressed by them, but I’m not paying- the NHS is. The customer service is excellent- you can speak to a person within a few rings. Her pump malfunctioned whilst on holiday in Austria I’m 2023 and they sent a replacement pump by courier, overnight from Amsterdam, to arrive at 6:30am - about 36 hrs after the call. Very impressed.

BLEEDING THE NHS DRY

Asked to pay for replacement transmitter even though it was lost due to a fault with the Guardian 4 sensors. Th sensor is an absolute NIGHTMARE to use. There are many other closed loop diabetes management systems around now and I would seriously consider the alternatives.

Medtronic would not provide me with a transmitter free of charge. It had to be ordered via my health care provider, who would have to foot the bill but whom I have not been able to get hold of.

I mean come on Medtronic, you're making a FORTUNE out of the NHS and type 1 diabetics. How much money would you have made from my via the hundreds of sensors I would be ordering over my lifetime from you? Yet, you've still got to squeeze a little bit extra for the sensor. It's enough on principle to completely drop Medtronic for one of their competitors.

Medtronic in my opinion are one of the reasons why the NHS is on it's knees. They clearly have only one goal and that is profit, profit and even more profit to squeeze out of the NHS, the sick and the disabled.

On the other hand Abbot Labs' sensors have always been fantastic with incredibly helpful and friendly customer support. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Medtronic.

It is clear to me that their budget is focussed on their sales and marketing team and NOT customer support.

But why not? Why support NHS funded customers, when you've got your claws into them and the only way they can escape you is via their healthcare provider.

is I USED TO HAVE a prescription for Abbot's sensors but switched to Medtronic for the closed loop system, which to be honest is a nightmare.

Companies like this are bleeding the NHS dry and consequently tax payers like me.

To add insult to injury I asked Medtronic's phone rep to be transferred to their complaints dept, so I could make a formal complaint. Was told they didn't have a complaints department. How arrogant can a company get?

NO THANKS MEDTRONIC

Terrible Support and Customer Behaviour

As a type 1 diabetic my insulin pump is vital to my health and I regret ever signing up to use Medtronic. Their customer service is woeful, have had nothing but issues and in the last week have spent about 10 hours on the phone, calls dropped, hung up on, transferred to a non existent extension and several emails later (all to a generic mailbox with no replies) I have given up and am talking to the hospital about alternates.

One person was even so rude I had to ask them if I could speak and could they stop shouting at me!

Never consider Medtronic as your supplier

There are several insulin Pumps and CGMs available nowadays do not choose Medtronic as your supplier. It will be constant problems with very little support if any.

If you have had any of the problems listed below, whether or not Medtronic solved your problem, please do not hesitate to contact me:

1 - Overtapes that do not adhere to the skin causing loss of sensors (Summer period)

2 - Medtronic Requesting the patients to purchase and pay for tapes to be used instead of Medtronic overtapes already paid for by the NHS.

3 - Excruciate delays to replace sensors lost. Medtronic excuse is that single sensors are not in stock and can take a very long time to replace them. (I have been waiting for 23 days and they still do not have any forecast at all for the delivery they just stated that it will take a very long time. We are just supposed to request new sensors to be paid for by the NHS) Isn't it amazing they do not have any single sensors but they do have plenty of boxes paid for the NHS!!!

3 - Sensors with non-retractable needles. This happens often as I have already seen complaints regarding that. Medtronic wrote to me that was the Inserter that I am using unaware that I have 2 Inserters - one completely new and one that I have been using for 9 months. Unless they sell Inserters without testing them there is no way that the problem is with the new and the old Inserters but with the sensors supplied. It appears to me that Medtronic have insufficient single sensors to supply consequently they do not want to take responsibility for sensors with defects so they do not have to replace them at extra cost for the patient/NHS!!!

Please note there was no rude conduct from Medtronic staff towards me.
