Very concerning experience - lack of due diligence and unprofessional behavior
We had a deeply concerning experience with Mark van der Meijden of Meijden Structural Engineering B.V., who was responsible for structural calculations in our home renovation project.
Shockingly, he admitted he had not reviewed the photos or the architect’s annotated drawings we provided, before making the calculations. As a result, his calculations were seriously wrong, creating a series of problems - including a bathroom steel beam missing a required supporting pillar - putting our home, and our small child, at real risk.
When we confronted him on site, he yelled: “If you want me to help pay for any of the costs to fix this, I’m out of here”. Zero accountability in a situation that was potentially dangerous.
Based on our experience, I strongly advise anyone considering this engineer to think twice and choose someone else!!
Professionalism, diligence, and safety were all severely lacking.
