Decent Experience, But Could Be Better

It’s generally convenient and easy enough to get through, with a decent range of shops and food options, but it still feels a bit dated and can be frustrating during busy times. Security and check-in are usually manageable, though queues can blow out more than expected, and parking and drop-off arrangements are not the most user-friendly. Staff are usually fine, and the airport does the job, but for a major city airport it could definitely be smoother, more modern, and better organised. Overall, not bad, but not especially impressive either.

A very bad experience with such an…

A very bad experience with such an international airport. My son 20 year old boy travelling by himself was taking off with Qatar airways when he suddenly didn’t feel well. The airlines doesn’t assist him and they decide that he had to leave the plain with the promise that he would receive medical assistance through the airport service. Once at the airport he waited almost 2 hours to be told that it was too late (midnight) and the clinic was closed. After that no assistance . He being sick had to search for a hotel and ask for help there. Unbelievable and so unprofessional. I have also spoken on the phone being so worried with the airport operator that was with him and he was so rude and unprofessional to both of us stating that it is normal there is no medical assistance at such late hour. We are traumatised by this experience . We are from Italy and having our son so far away by himself treated like this…unacceptable

Awful

Awful, just a bunch of white supremacists on a power trip. Especially Claire Storey, a blonde, shoulder-length haired, psychopathic woman (questionable with her Quagmire jawline and Nigel Thornberry nose). Snorlax from Vietjet canceled my flight because they stupidly put baggage claims next to arrivals when I was also internationally transferring.

The wifi acts up so I didn't get a notification that my bags were in gate 4 until after he'd told me and its a complete nightmare making wifi calls to the travel insurance or airline company. Jetstar were way more accommodating. Least they didn't act like they slept with someone or was related to the boss to get their jobs!

Big thank you to Indra for cheering me up when I burst into tears and had a complete breakdown. She was one of the few that actually had a conscience or human decency to help.

Terminal carpark

Melbourne airport terminal carpark had the reputation for most expensive in the world. Now it has gone completely predatory. If you don’t book online, you face 50% higher rates.
Booking online has its own challenges.
While there is an allowance for coming earlier, the carpark must be left before the end of the booked period, otherwise, the higher rates apply. If meeting a family member at the airport, the flight delay is not always announced early enough to be able to schedule the parking period precisely. Delays in luggage and customs can’t be predicted. The booking cannot be changed later than 2 hours before its start. Damned if you book, damned if you don’t. melbourneairport.com.au(/)parking-terms-and-conditions
The booked time has to include 20 min to find a free parking bay and 15 min to walk to the terminal and back to the car, because the bay you found is far, far away, due to the building works.
The way things are going, it might be CHEAPER TO CATCH A TAXI OR UBER instead of using one’s own car to send off or meet family members. The expensive upgrade going on at the moment might never be paid off, because the parking is prohibitively expensive.
