I have to change my whole major because…

I have to change my whole major because of McGraw Hill. I truly believe it was not meant to teach, but to discourage and confuse students. 300 questions week. If I get a question right, it will ask the same question 3 times over and over again to make me confused and mess with my head.

this is a cabal of sexual deviants who are marketing continual filth to our youth. no wonder everyone walks around in sweatpants and cant understand literature written 100 years ago.

These people need to be canceled. Look at chapter nine in the Human Sexuality: Diversity in Contemporary Society By William Yarber and Barbara Sayad for actual pornography for high schoolers...

I wish i could rate this lower

If I could rate it 0, I would. On a technical side, it is fine, but the actual content is HORRIBLE.
If you are a student who is unlucky enough to get assigned one of these textbooks, get ready to do 2+ hours of answering the same question over and over for your "homework."
I would never recommend any prof. to use this resource, it is absolutely dreadful.

I believe this book to be beyond bias

I believe this book to be beyond bias. Everything they refer to is leftist ideology, nothing about anything of libertarian or centrist value. They refer to Obama, who may have been a great speaker if you didn’t read between the lines. Which that would be the only person that I’d consider worthy of mentioning. However when you delve deeper into the book, they mention two people who both got canceled based on how much they lied even specifically during the pandemic telling everyone to get vaccinated. Stephen Colbert and Rachel Maddow! Are you serious, how do you expect to take anything serious if all you speak about is leftist lunatics. Horrible, you need to offer better writers with better ideas behind the lesson planning. Based on the amount of 1 star reviews it seems they actually have their hands full with other issues that people find annoying about McGraw-Hill textbooks as well.

Worse then Reddit

Their textbooks have always sucked. But their first year of biology book, which costs 119 dollars for just a code, gives like 100 questions per chapter. 50 of which are basically the same question. On top of this, they don't even have an algorithm to help with spelling mistakes, meaning half of my mistakes are the correct answer but one letter off.

Paid for an e-book but the code they gave me won't work

Ordered an e -book with instant access for my university class . The access code they gave me did not work. Spent 2 hours speaking with 4 different people with different answers. The last person said to wait 24 hours and try again. The payment has already been charged to my credit card. I need the text book NOW and don't have time to deal with their tech issue.

Scammers, don’t trust

They scammed me. Called to cancel my physical textbook order, they said I would have to wait till the next week. I called the next week, they said they can’t cancel it. Scammers in disguise. Don’t buy from them.

Denied and Brushed Off

I was trying to request fair-use permissions for my corrections students in order to streamline their math experience and help more of them be successful in math. After giving me the runaround and not really listening to my specific requests via email, my request to make copies of a 25-year-old book was totally denied because “We still print those books”. Yeah. I know. When I went on to try and explain why purchasing books would not work for my particular corrections class, they brushed me off saying they’d worked with corrections educators for years and 95% of them hand out books no problem. Thanks for mansplaining while undervaluing true HS+ education which should be free for everyone. Lame. Never using this company again.

Two words: Absolute dogshit

The textbooks are overpriced for no reason and yet their online software is worse than free ones that could be used instead. True/false questions are based on direct quotes from the textbook ignoring context which makes them extremely hard to get right. Questions on application assignments are never on the correct subjects and expect students to know other subjects not included in the textbook.

McGraw Hill Connect is the opposite of user friendly

This company is very proud of themselves. I'm taking Spanish 101 online, and their textbook plays a major role in my class. I'll list my complaints one by one.

When you check your work during a practice assignment, it doesn't tell you the right answer until you already turned it in. Such a waste of time. It doesn't tell you why you're wrong, either.

Tests use words I've never even seen before.

The speaking portions are way too fast and complicated. I'm just learning basic words, and they're reading off entire paragraphs. There's no option to slow it down or view subtitles.

It's so overpriced.

Their software is garbage.

I hate this company, and I loathe anyone else who has a class even remotely associated with McGraw Hill. I hope they go out of business.

consistently negative experiences from…

consistently negative experiences from the customer service team at McGraw Hill. I’ve had to call on several occasions for different issues all relating to their extremely unforgiving UI and purchase formats. Every representative I have spoken to sounds like they hate their life. Unhelpful, rude, and will disconnect at the drop of a hat.

Let alone McGraw Hill’s actual platform is pretty terrible and overpriced, too.

I absolutely dispose EVERYTHInG about…

I absolutely despise EVERYTHInG about McGraw Hill. I could go on for hours. I wish more people would speak up so teachers would stop using their products. Every student I’ve asked also struggles with all aspects of their material. Even their customer support is crap. I wish I could give a ZERO star rating. I hope the company fails and goes bankrupt because they are so bad at what they do it is shocking. I do not learn. All I do is complain and struggle through homework because their platform does not assist when a student is stuck. I hate the feeling that their courses make me experience. It is ugly and negative. Pure frustration. Makes me want to set something on fire. I hate, hate, hate any class using their text/Connect and want to die.

Course work is trash

I am constantly having issues with my accounting homework through this place. It is not worth the money when it performs like a poorly constructed demo. Pieces of information are constantly being omitted making it difficult to understand, on top of the weird way the questions are asked making it nearly impossible to understand or answer correctly when you do understand the material. It also has multiple contradicting instructions. It's like they threw the course together in a day.

You will have to buy the hard copy book as well as this ebook. The ebook wont open 90.99% of the time so it is completely useless but a great way to get another $80 out of me. Support only says to make sure the popup blocker is off. Mine is and I still cant open the book. Pretty important piece to a PSY class.

I hope you never need a refund!

Purchased Connect and ebook for a course I am taking. Wrong ISBN was listed on the syllabus, and I ended up purchasing the older edition of the book. Requested a refund though PayPal, and was told it processed on 5/12/24.

No communication from McGraw Hill for 2 weeks. I had to speak to multiple CSRs AND press them for information. Their systems are not interconnected, and they will pass the buck requiring the customer to complete all of the leg work. Seriously, the CSRs will give you an email to contact this person or that person, and if you are lucky they will get back to you.

Finally received a response on 5/24/24 informing me that they were unable to refund my bank (wasn't a bank transaction it was PayPal), and I was issued a check refund. No one communicated this, and I was only given this information after I pressed for it and would not take being passed off onto someone else.

I filed a BBB complaint on 5/24/24, and someone followed up with me on 5/28/24. More or less I was given the same story I received on 5/24. I was informed yet again a check refund was issued and processed. Again, they continue to blame my bank and PayPal. They did not communicate at all with PayPal, and want to place the blame on me for opening a dispute. My issue is had I not filed a BBB complaint, I would not have found out any information and they would have continued to leave me in limbo. Of course, they see no problem with this and do not believe I have been inconvenienced at all.

I had to repurchase what I needed, and I still do not have my refund. No one at McGraw Hill offered to extend my trial access until 5/28/24 AFTER they received the BBB compliant and I had already purchased what I needed. According to them, they offered that as a courtesy.

On 6/4/24 after asking and attempting to come up with different solutions instead of continuing to wait for a check, I was informed they processed and mailed the check. I was told on 5/24 & 5/28 it was processed. I was under the impression, due to lack of communication and details that the check was mailed on 5/24/24. I was also told I should receive the refund, "within the week." Shocking, it is now 6/10 and I still have nothing. To make matters more frustrating, I have no tracking or carrier information for this check. All they can tell me is I should have it within 1-2 weeks.

I followed up on the afternoon of 6/10 to ask for an update. Of course, they have no information. I was also informed today that they had to wait for the dispute to close with PayPal to restart the refund process. The dispute was closed on 5/24/24, and yet they mailed the check on 6/4/24 -- almost a 2 week wait! Allegedly, the resolutions team had to inform the credit card team I still had not received a refund. Since their systems are not connected they have to communicate this issue. I would have thought someone in accounting or on the credit card team would have noticed an open line. I guess not.

I continue to wait for my refund, and it has been 30 days since I purchased the older edition of the book, and 28 days since they stated they began the refund process. It has been over 2 weeks since the dispute with PayPal has been closed, and all they can say is keep waiting another 1-2 weeks. It is easy for them to say, "We're sorry, and a resolution is coming." It's not their money why would they care?

What is the most frustrating thing about this situation is the fact I have had to press for communication and ask almost daily for an update. I asked if they could issue a stop pay on the check, and credit my card for the repurchase. No. I asked if they could refund my card and issue a store credit for the second purchase. Nope. My option is to continue to wait because their systems are not connected, they don't communicate with the customer, and if you open a dispute you have to wait until its closed for them to move forward.

When you speak to CSRs on live chat, they do not have the tools to connect you to the appropriate department. They give you an email address, and the customer has to do the leg work. They also cannot see if something has refunded or give you the status of the refund. According to McGraw Hill it is for, "security reasons." While I understand and appreciate that, why staff a live chat desk if they can't help or provide information? Good luck finding any contact information on their website or on social media. I am convinced it is that way for a reason, as they do not want to deal with customer service issues. Look at their BBB reviews, trustpilot, and reddit. A lot of students have issues with them. It should not have taken me going to the BBB to find out information.

I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company that can't process a refund in a timely manor. They love to play the blame game in what universe is it ok to wait over a month for $150 refund?

Like using microsoft access circa 1997…

Like using microsoft access circa 1997 without no experience in database management. One of the clunkiest, wonkiest, atrocious user experiences ever. Assigning students online books is harder than creating a lasting peace in the middle east. I cannot ever get this done seamlessly or efficiently. It is not navigation friendly and the "help" file is useless. Millions of pages of information and not a single sentence on how to do what you're trying to accomplish. It's obvious this company is about making investors rich at the expense of customer service and usability. I will never order books from this behemoth, cold, ineffectual, and lame company again.
