Mighty Campers - Brisbane Reviews 

We rented a Mighty Highball 2-Berth in September 2026 (Booking Ref CGP773376-1). The van looked fine at pickup, but shortly after starting our trip a strong sewage smell began coming from the bathroom - it got worse every day and made it impossible to eat, sleep, or spend time inside the van for most of a 5-day holiday. We also found bed linen with someone else's hair on it and what looked like grease stains.

At drop-off, staff initially suggested it was because we hadn't emptied the toilet, which wasn't true - we noticed the smell before we ever used it. Very disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a relaxing trip. Would not recommend without a thorough pre-hire check of the plumbing and cleanliness

The car was nice and clean, but the receptionist wasn’t very knowledgeable about the bond and refund process.
On the first night we found out the water hose missing a part and we couldn’t fill the water and on the next day we went to the store to buy the missing part.
It’s a very disappointing that the car hasn’t been checked and such an important thing is missing.

I was given a car with a faulty water pump, which ruined what should have been an enjoyable trip to Australia.
The female member of staff was also rude when I returned the car, and I will never use THL again.

There were no mechanical issues with the Van. However, the bathroom toilet’s seal must have been broken. We couldn’t open the door at all as the smell was HORRID. I had to buy room deodorizer spray to make it tolerable for 10 days of travel. The bed sheets were smelly and there was not enough blankets available for 5 people. We were given 3 to use, so we had to share. The kitchen cooking gear provided was terrible quality and impossible to cook with without sticking and burning our food. It was quite the adventure- we are just happy the scenery travelled was worth the stinky van we lived in for 10 days.

the footwells in the front of the van were too high leaving our feet dangling causing much discomfort on the lowest setting, we are 5'6 and 5'8 respectively. changing linen as an option in booking is impossible unless you stay in a location of mighty camper. the footwell in the ensuite when using the toilet was way too high for sitting position, not a comfortable experience. Getting into the camper is a high step up and in motion, no good for anyone with mobility issues at all. The bed was hard as a rock even with a pillow topper we bought, great for people who like hard beds, definitely not for others. The map software is completely out of date, so use your own apps and definitely buy a phone holder, we used the geeko brand which was great. The lock to the gas bbq dropped out while driving, so we had to have it repaired and reinstalled; we did locate the lock that dropped out completely, it was due to a steel washer being too big for the lock and basically rattled out. Make sure to remove the plug in the shower, its awkwardly located in the drain section which was hard to work out, hopefully they leave that out for you. Use of the toaster means unplugging the tv as there is not any other plug in the kitchen area to do so, an extra plug somewhere easily accessible would be a much better solution. The rest of the camper was faultless, but for anyone new to using one, travelling Australia in the heat, definitely have a power connection (powered site) or some sort of other power option (compatible power bank) to plug into to be able to use the aircon etc. The staff in Brisbane were absolutely lovely.

I spoke with the online chat and emailed the team to make sure I got a good van as I have allergies- very supportive and accommodating. Very friendly and helpful staff. Van was in great condition. Only thing that is annoying is the opening hours are short and their is not after hours drop offs- this would have made it an even better experience as we had flights to try to align with drop off- ended up staying in a hotel overnight. But a great experience overall.

We had a lot of trouble with the hot water service which subsequently resulted in us running out of water and battery power (we were off grid) so it really spoilt things for us. in addition we'd hired the bedding/linen pack which was quite insufficient for the QLD nights. froze the first night so had to borrow blankets off other campers! It was our second experience with a motor home - first time was great (different provider) but this one was quite dissapointing.

Not charge me $300 to clean the camper van that we had spent an hr cleaning.
We paid $155 for chairs, table. Toilet sanitiser blocks and a heater. We didn't get the heater which we really needed as the air-conditioning for heating mal functioned. The pump made an awful noise when using the tap water. It also would make a noice several times each night for no reason.

Our RV had a lot of issues and when I called to discuss was told to send an email and someone would get back to us same day or if not the next day, 3 days later I had to follow-up again. The RV was so noisy (like being inside a drum kit when driving), there were numerous auto electrical issues (heater/windows/aircon not working or would come on intermittently), the pump was so noisy we wouldn’t use after a certain time at night so as not to disturb other travellers and the RV smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The worst experience we’ve ever had - the RV should have been retired and not for hire!

Power would only last 5 hours had to buy connector for house to rv to charge camper had to keep charging all night to have a little bit of power . Camper was not cleaned I had to dettol wipe everything down and mirror in toilet/shower fell off was hanging with double sided tape . Was given $ 150.00 back when should have been more and was told we get that back cause we rang there 1800 number for help .staff were friendly that’s all that ended up good .

Fantastic camper, awesome customer service. 10/10.

Overall, I would not hire from Mighty Campers again.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge Georgie at the Brisbane branch, who was excellent throughout the process. She was friendly, professional, helpful, and provided a thorough handover and checkout experience.

Unfortunately, the camper itself let the trip down. After arriving at our first campsite, having noticed a strong unpleasant smell during the drive, we discovered that all of the cushions around the rear dining table were completely soaked. They were not just damp but saturated, making the dining area unusable for the duration of our trip.

We also experienced significant issues with the electrical system. Following Mighty’s recommendation, we spent our first three nights at powered campsites to ensure the batteries were fully charged. We were advised that a fully charged system should comfortably last at least two days off-grid. However, after moving to an unpowered campsite, we lost all electrical power within approximately eight hours. This resulted in the fridge shutting down and all of our food spoiling.

Finally, a word of caution regarding the hire chairs. Anyone weighing close to or over 100kg may find them unsuitable. Mine broke the first evening I used it, leaving me to sit on the ground for the remainder of the trip.

While the staff experience was very positive, the condition and performance of the camper significantly impacted our holiday, and unfortunately I would not choose Mighty Campers again.

Great experience, the roadside help / assistance was prompt and easy to work with. And most importantly the after hours drop off in Brisbane was super convenient !

The Canadian lady gave us a great tour of the van. Explained everything and more. Van was great, brand new, so our first experience road tripping was awesome. 100% recommended this lady

Pleasurable experience.

The camper was well equipped, clean and reliable. Also being an automatic it was very easy to drive and the cruise control made motorway driving simple.
We did have a little trouble meeting the 3pm deadline to collect at Brisbane ( due to non specific airline delays) but the Brisbane team fitted us in.
All in all we loved the camper it was excellent.
