It is important to clarify that there hasn't been a data breach and that you have received one promotional email from us in 5 months.
You may not be aware that we liaised with the ICO before sending any emails. When we received your review, dated 2nd March 2021, we reached out to the ICO, before replying to you, to ensure we were fully addressing your review. The ICO confirmed that this is in no way a data breach (which is something quite different) and that our process for emailing you was fully in line with their guidelines.
Your review is dated 7 weeks after you received your only email from us on 10th January 2021. You wrote to us on 26th January 2021, asking why you had received this email. We replied on the same day explaining that "Our records show that you have previously purchased from Mimi Holliday and, as such, your details feature on our emailing list. Please do advise if you would like us to remove your details from our email list and I will activate this today for you." This is very much in line with ICO guidelines.
We did not receive a reply from you but took the liberty of removing you from our database so that you did not receive further promotional emails. We are, of course, sorry that you do not wish to hear from us about Mimi products or updates but many Mimi customers had written to us asking when they would be able to buy Mimi products online again, and expressing their happiness that they can now do so.
We typically send emails every two to three weeks with news and product updates which is below the industry average. Obviously we do not always get it right, but it is for this reason that we exceed ICO advice by including 2 unsubscribe links in our emails, including one right at the very top to allow a quick and easy method to unsubscribe. Our customer team also strive to be responsive and helpful, as we are also lingerie addicts and online consumers so we try our best to offer the quality of service that we ourselves would like to receive.
