Snakes selling poor equipment

Mirka deros is a great sander (when working). Owned for 4 years. 2 motherboards, 3 power cords and 2 exhaust swivels. Since motherboard replacement I have had to purchase 2 power cords myself. Zero confidence in my machine. 3 months downtime waiting for repairs. Customer service just drop off and I guess they hope you leave them alone. No backbone in this company. Unable to own their incompetence. They are aware of problems but not prepared to replace badly made equipment. I bought a $2000 NZD sander which is double the cost of a Festool. If I treated my customers as they have treated me I would be unemployed with a terrible reputation. I will forever take any opportunity to warn people via any way I can backed by honest correspondence, receipts and replies from Mirka. I feel robbed of my hard earned money and stuck with a $2000 machine I wonder when it will break down next. Currently waiting 2 weeks for a power lead and counting…….

No Leadership

Mirka had me send my sander to Service tools OEM in Blainville Quebec to repair the speed controller that is poorly designed, They shipped it back to me via GLS who threw it on my porch without getting a signature as requested. I am out the cost of thee repair and the shipping and the sander. Guess which one of these companies have come forward to even try to make me whole again.

Mirka who made me deal with OEM

OEM who shipped the sander and did not insure it

GLS/ Rick Barns that runs GLS at ext. 3122 who lacks leadership.

They have your money, you lose.

Mirka DEROS 650CV 150 mm 5.0 mm orbit

Great tool! (Fantastisk stykke værktøj!)
But "warranty registration"... alas, utter failure: Enter a lot of data - receive an email - press the confirmation link in the email... Well, 8 links to a lot of useless info, but no confirmation link. Any extended warranty will have expired before I get it fixed. Clever, Mirka, quite clever...

Purchased a 110v mirka sander in 2020…

Purchased a 110v mirka sander in 2020 for nearly 500 pounds last week it packed up 2 months out of warranty and surprisingly it was the speed controller which seems to be a very common issue. What is more frustrating is that this sander has had very very light use on finishing fine joinery.

I got in contact with my local mirka rep who whilst very helpful told me that there wasn’t much he could do than take it to the repair shop for them to take a look at it.
Now I’m awaiting a quote for the repair but am being told it’s likely to be around £300 .

As this seems to be a common issue it’s disappointing that mirka haven’t solved the speed control issue.

Won’t be buying another Mirka product will move to festool as they back there tools up with long lasting product support.

Mirka sander terrible service !!

This was my second 77mm da eltric sander . First one failed after 14 months speed controller.
So I brought another one £485 with extended warranty this one failed as well after 18months same problem speed controller, terrible service from the manufacturer and service department. Wanted £250+vat to fix. So I said no and going to move over to a different make. I’m not alone this seems to be a common problem but MIRKA will not honour the warranty terrible service you have been warned..

28 Hours Usage - Now Dead

Bought the Mirka Deros 650 in 2017 after watching several videos on Youtube which made it look a great machine.

£400 later and I had one of these dustless sanding machines and all was great.

Although an amateur, I still try to buy the good quality tools, but they never get used and abused like would be the case with pro users and are well looked after.

So when my Deros totally packed up after around 28 hours of actual usage, I was livid.

It was mid 2022 by this point, so out of warranty, but on reading about another users out of warranty positive experience, I contacted Mirka CS and I was told it would be collected and inspected by their authorised repairer.

I was hoping they would to replace it as a gesture of goodwill in light of the limited use as they had with the other user, but no, the repair would be almost the cost of what I paid for the sander as the motor AND speed controller had failed and they blamed me as the motor was showing signs of rust.

They did offer a gesture of goodwill reduction, bringing the repair cost down to £156, which I reluctantly accepted or they'd dispose of my machine after so many days.

Whether both parts had actually died together, I will never know but I know what my gut feeling tells me.

But I keep seeing a lot of people saying the expensive, not fit for purpose speed controller has failed.

So my Mirka Deros has now cost over £550 for 28ish hours of use, so over £19 per hour to use it, not including consumables.

I will never buy another Mirka product ever again and if I can persuade just one more person to avoid an expensive mistake, I'll be happy.

Gone through 2 Deros sanders.

Gone through 2 Deros sanders.
Seems like the motors are not able to cope.
Had a quote for repair which was almost as much as a new machine. They are also reluctant to do anything to help restore any faith or confidence in their product.
Please do your research before buying. There is more negativity towards Mirka and costly repairs for faulty machines on the web.

Please read before buying expensive Mirka tool

A professional carpenter friend on mine had a Mirka Deros and at the time it was new. It looked good and so I purchased one for myself. I am an amateur by his standard. It recently stopped working, not having a had a hard life. I tried to contact Mirka and ask whether this should happen? I was notified that the product would be picked up. I thought this was great, a company that cared about its products and customers. 10 days after returning the sander, I get a quote for the repair work. No explanation, just a quote for the replacement of a part. After several emails back and forth trying to get an explanation, it seems as if I am being blamed for it breaking it, including the motor coming loose and blown speed controller. It transpires it is out of warranty by a few months so they will not do anything other than scrap it. I have asked for it back which they are doing but in pieces. They won't even put it back together. The repair was half the price of the sander (which was over £350). For such an expensive tool, you would have thought they would care more. I do not recommend buying from Mirka. There are other reports of the Speed controller breaking, perhaps a known fault. I would suggest looking at Festol instead.
