Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 44 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the subscription model and payment practices, often describing them as problematic or misleading. People frequently reported being automatically charged for additional seats or users without clear consent or prior approval, leading to unexpected and substantial bills. Reviewers also found it nearly impossible to remove credit card details from their accounts or cancel subscriptions, with some even being charged after deleting their accounts. The pricing was often considered too high, with many essential features locked behind paid plans, and the user experience suffered from slow loading times and lag when boards became larger or multiple users were collaborating. However, some people also felt that the product itself was great for collaboration, brainstorming, and planning, with useful templates and a good API for automation.

I used to love Miro but this AI feature has ruined it.

I used to love Miro. It was a great collaboration tool but now that they've added this AI bot / tool generator feature they've ruined the whole tool. I can't find what I need. It keeps pushing me towards the AI chat. AI is not good at this type of usage yet and I just want the old product back.

Also, it deletes and changed stuff now that the AI is in there. It's just a time waster. I've already deleted one of my company accounts and removed all the users from the other ... however the bill even with only one user is so expensive and it's almost impossible to add someone as a guest - so now I have all these collaborators seeing my whole company and I'm paying for them when I just need them to view.

Terrible ... such a shame to see a good company ruin the product because they got caught up in stupid hype and didn't take time to actually learn how AI could benefit their users.

If I could give it zero stars

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I had to insert a frame to be able to export my care map that I spend HOURS on. It is 2:20 am right now. It told me before I exported that I needed to add a frame. I adjusted it to size and added the frame. It RUINED my WHOLE PROJECT. And the undo button? Yeah that didn't return the project to how it was before the frame. So, I got the free trial subscriptions to see my history of edits. And it's most recent edit had maybe 50% of my finished product. This website sucks. It is not reliable. Do not use it.

Great and Useful tool

Slightly expensive subscription for such a simple platform yet it is very useful. Some features could be better but overall a great tool.

Avoid. Awful subscription policies that feel like a scam.

Avoid. Awful subscription policies that feel like a scam.

I tried using Miro for a pet projects, but at the end of the trial I was automatically switched to a Business subscription with no clear option to downgrade or opt out.

Worse, anyone who merely viewed my board was automatically added to my billing at $20 per person per month, without explicit consent or clear warning.

There is no straightforward way to cancel this subscription. The AI chatbot is completely useless, and despite sending a formal written complaint, I have received no response from Miro support.

This feels intentionally opaque and misleading. A product aimed at professionals should not rely on dark-pattern billing practices and unresponsive support.

I guess my next step will be a formal complaint to consumer protection services and my card provider.

Can't start using in free plan

I was invited to Miro in my other project, but I never actually used it. Now I wanted to start using it, but I can't create my personal board, I'm allowed only to create boards inside teams, and the only option is to pay. I didn't even start using it!

Deceptive billing practices and hidden…

Deceptive billing practices and hidden charges. "The billing system is awful and feels like a scam. They automatically charge for every new seat/user without any consent or confirmation. It is abusive to the consumer. There are plenty of better apps out there that are transparent about their pricing. To make matters worse, there is no option to remove your credit card details from the account. Avoid this app at all costs."

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH

i have had an amazing time with miro but it just did something to me that i cant quite forgive, i added a copied piece of text into a document and miro asked me if i wanted to switch to doc or something.

the text i copied and pasted turned green for some reason so i figured: why not try to change to doc? maybe ittl fix the green text and more?

Nope. it deleted a whole load of text that nothing to do with the pasted text and when i tried to press undo nothing came back.

in utter shock i desperatly mashed Ctrl Z but nothing happened.

miro had deleted very valueable information from me and now i am very pissed.

Deceptive billing and poor export quality – Save your money

I am extremely disappointed with Miro. I purchased an annual license for $90+, but the experience has been a nightmare for two main reasons:

Predatory Billing: I shared a board with a collaborator just so they could view it, and Miro automatically charged me another $90+ for an extra license without any warning or confirmation prompt. Now I am stuck with two licenses and no way to get a refund for the accidental one. There is no transparency in their seating/billing system.

False Advertising on Exports: One of the main reasons I paid for the "Pro" version was the "Vector" export option for infinite quality. This is a total lie. The files export pixelated and are unusable for professional work. I ended up having to redo my entire diagram in Microsoft Visio to get the quality I needed.

I have spent over $180 on a tool that doesn't deliver what it promises and tricks you into paying for extra seats you don't need. Avoid this if you value your money and need high-quality exports.

Good idea, but frustrating to use

used Miro for team collaboration and brainstorming and at first it looked promising. The idea is great and it works fine for simple boards, but once things get bigger it becomes hard to use.
Boards start loading slowly, especially when several people are working at the same time. Zooming and moving around feels laggy and sometimes the board freezes for a few seconds. It breaks the flow and gets annoying during live sessions.
We also ran into limits pretty quickly and a lot of useful features are locked behind paid plans. In the end we stopped using Miro regularly because it just wasn’t smooth enough for daily work

I'm very disappointed in Miro - can't remove credit card details

I'm very disappointed in Miro. Used to love the product, used to love the brand.

I didn't use Miro actively for two years. Today I logged in again to start working on a new project. Things have changed. Miro has become dark... Loads of things that I'm not happy with, but the biggest one is: Could you please guide me on how to remove my credit card details?! Why can I only reactivate my subscription but not remove my credit card details? Zero control.... over my own credit card details. I don't want to call Miro a scam product, but the behavior is scammy.

Great program — but the billing system is a scam

I actually think Miro is a great program.
But the billing system? It’s a total scam.

I’m an independent online English teacher. I bought what I thought was a simple $96/year plan for one person — just me. Then, when I tried to share my boards with my students, I used the “add team members” option, not realizing it would automatically create paid licenses for each student.

There was no warning, no confirmation screen, no feedback of any kind — just an automatic invoice for over $1,750.

When I contacted support, they sent a long message explaining that this was my fault and that I’d need to pay for all 20 users. They even wrote, “Please make sure your card has sufficient funds,” which honestly felt like a threat. And judging by the reviews here, this is a common problem that Miro already knows about — yet they do nothing to fix it.

I’ve changed my team back to one person and will not be paying this amount, I'm lucky my card didn't have money on it. It’s absurd that Miro allows something like this to happen automatically, especially to new users.

It’s a shame, because the product itself is excellent, but the predatory billing practices destroy any trust I had in the company.

Hi there – thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
From what you described, it sounds like when the students signed up, they were automatically added to your existing workspace, which triggered additional licenses. This can definitely be confusing, especially if it wasn’t intentional.

To help prevent this in the future, we recommend turning off the auto-seat expansion setting by going to:
Company settings > Billing > Licensing configuration and switching off “Anyone can expand the team."
This helps ensure that no one can be added (or trigger extra charges) without admin approval.

If you’re open to it, please reach out to our support team again. Read more about contacting our support team here:

We’d be happy to take a closer look at your billing and make sure everything is in good shape moving forward.

Thanks again for your honest feedback — we truly value your time with Miro.

Trick Pricing

I like Miro but their team pricing is unclear baorderline scammy. I started a board just normal starter pack for myself.

Shared the view link to some people. Then miro charged me x4 the seats.

I'm trying to change my team size to 1 so i cant be taken advantage of again. But that section doesnt load on their site.

Awful website that it’s impossible to decipher. Also shockingly bad information about what’s included in various subscription offers. Difficult to cancel a subscription, impossible to get a refund despite the fact that the plan is not fit for purpose. I won’t be back!

Absolutely shocked

Absolutely shocked - I haven't used my MIRO account in awhile and saw a receipt for almost $500 for a Teams account I never purchased. Going into my account and reviewing my billing history, saw I had a charge for a Teams account - again, one I hadn't purchased - back in April. I don't even recall seeing it but if I had, I must have assumed it was a renewal charge as it's automatically charged to my credit card. Just emailed billing support right away to contest these charges. Now reading that others have had issues with billing and unauthorized product charges, and getting someone to talk to to rectify the issue, I'm hoping this route will get me someone from the company to resolve this matter ASAP.

Hello, and thank you for your review. We understand how concerning it is to see unexpected charges. In Miro, charges may occur when new seats are added to your team.
