I went in for a shingles vaccination. I did have a short wait (beyond the allotted appointment time) but the experience was very positive. The pharmacist was very thorough, clear and detailed in explaining the vaccine background and obtaining my medical history, he took plenty of hygiene measures and was very calm/pleasant/measured. All in all, very happy.

This pharmacy is one of best in York. Every time I've ever had a problem they always go above and beyond to help. The whole team are super friendly and very polite.

I visited the Monkbar pharmacy because I was worried about my hands as I’m working in the kitchen as a chef and I’ve noticed some bubbles and rushed skin around my nails. One of the male member asked his college to have a look at it and went to the back to get her. Her attitude was absolutely disgusting how she came out from the other room, she raised her hands and with the big breath showing what the hell she wants?! I thought I will get an answer from a specialist but I felt humiliated and left very disappointed because of her behaviour. Female with dark hair and wore a glasses. She shouldn’t work in a customer service environment and if she is having a bad day maybe she should lock her self at home, and taking relaxing pills! Honestly I never been treated like this before! Hope she will have a wonderful Christmas!

Had Covid booster. On time, no queues, so that was good. All seemed efficient.

Of the four staff I met only one was more human, for the other three it was not exactly 'service with a smile'. So not sure I would rush back there.

A few weeks ago, I had an issue with my insulin (I am a type 1 diabetic) and needed emergancy assistance to receive emergancy insulin. The team at monk bar went above and beyond, staying half an hour after their shift had ended just to ensure I wasn’t left in the dust. I am incredibly grateful for the young blonde lass who mopped up and the pharmacist working that night, they saved me a lot of pain and a trip to hospital!

Properly independent pharmacy in York. Service always brilliant and prices are cheaper too. Hadn't realised cost of medicines (exc. fixed prescription price) could vary so much.

This pharmacy is amazing with full of helpful staffs. Service was second to known. I can highly recommend to this pharmacy to everyone.

Poor customer service and an abrupt manner.

I visited Monkbar Pharmacy to collect a prescription. The female assistant was quite abrupt.

I sent an email to Monkbar Pharmacy about the assistant's manner, yet they didn't reply to my first or second.

Prior to me, the female assistant called for Mr Tweedie; she handed him his prescription and was equally abrupt with him.

The assistant placed the prescription form on the desk, put a pen down on the desk and asked me to sign it. She then started chundering on about if I didn't click the correct box I'd be fined. She really was very abrupt.

I did say "you don't have to be so abrupt" at which point she said "have a nice day!".

There is a note on the counter advising not to be rude to NHS staff. Regrettably, there is no note advising that Monkbar Pharmacy staff shall be polite to its customers.
