THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS

THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS

DO NOT GO TO MONRO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! From their in store employee's to their corporate structure these people will go out of their way to try and scam you. If you try to call them they will put you on hold for about 10 minutes then hang up, or just hang up on you in general. Spent about a hour on the phone trying to speak to a manager and got the run around over and over and over. All this not to even mention HOW MUCH THEY OVERCHARGE FOR REGULAR SERVICES! IT DOES NOT COST $500 AN AXLE TO DO YOUR BRAKES LIKE THE MAN ON THE PHONE TOLD SOMEONE WHO CALLED! Not only rude to me but condescending to other patrons while i was there. They will hold your keys hostage and force money out of you under duress. Only thing i should have done is called the cops to get my keys. Scammers through and through, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! EMPLOYEES TO CORPORATE THEY WILL TRY EVERYTHING TO SCAM YOU

Grease Monkey Angels

Got a flat tire driving down Interstate 90 from Cleveland to Buffalo on a Sunday afternoon. Got the donut on which wasn't going to last with two hours still to go to Buffalo. Started frantically calling tire places to see if anyone had a soul and might consider helping me 15 minutes before closing time. Most places said no thanks. Matt, the manager at the location on Peach Street however, answered the call! Without hesitation, he said "bring it on by." I showed up 10 minutes before closing time hoping they would just sell me a tire to get me where I was going. Instead, Matt and his colleague Paul dropped what they were doing to help a guy in need. They were able to plug the tire, saving me hundreds. To top it off, they also came out and put it on my car for me-something I surely wasn't expecting now that it was after closing time. If these guys don't come through like they did, I'm spending the night in Erie, missing an important doctor's appointment for my Dad in the morning and getting to Buffalo who knows when? I can't say enough how great these two guys were and how much their kindness meant to me. Thank you Matt and Paul!

Warning!! Fraud alert

Warning!!! Do not do business with this company.
We had to contact NYS DMV to recover repair costs for damage done by Monroe Inc.
They have now retaliated by notifying the IRS that the reimbursement check that they sent us was employment compensation or compensation paid as a self employed employee of Monroe Inc. I have had to contact the IRS to start an investigation as to why they issued a 1099-NEC to someone who has never been employed by their company.

A ripoff

First, I'd like to say the people working at the local monro were good people. After I got the bill and said no thanks, they said 'totally understand'. With that said, monro attempted to charge me 150 per ball joint, 226 for a tie rod end, and 233 per piece for control arms. Then they wanted to charge me 500 for labor for something they admitted would take one guy a half a day. Are you kidding? I just bought all of these part, and more, for 400 dollars from parts geek and Detroit axle. I can do the work myself for free... the total estimate was 1800 for 2 ball joints, 2 control arms, a tie rod end and an alignment. Get real.. I just saved myself 1400 by hanging out with my dad working on cars my whole life. Monro will be recieving no more of my money.

Never get what you want

Where to start? First I chose the tires I wanted for vehicle, set up an appointment. Got to Monroe and was told they only had 3 of the ones I wanted and had to do all 4 for the special. Clerk mentioned an Black Friday special if I wanted a similar tire which includes a free alignment, I said okay. Clerk gave me the quote, then ordered them and had to reschedule. Come to the appt and after a half hr of waiting, the mechanic tells me they are the wrong tire. Wanted to charge me more for a tire I didn't want. Sneaky, did you think I would say yes? Nope told him put the old ones back on I'll go elsewhere. He did say he would order and I would still get the price as quoted previously. But as of now I'm pretty upset. Bait and switch as far as I'm concerned. This woman isn't biting, it better be made right. Will update once this service finally occurs. If what was promised is done, I can forgive.

Truly bad customer service. Double charging for covered repair.

We took my Wifes 2016 Jeep Cherokee there for service. The exhaust was getting louder. I found the flex pipe turning down from the manifold leaking. Your mechanic replaced the pipe, and all was well. A few months later the same pipe started leaking again. I called the store and was told that there had been some bad exhaust parts and that a new supplier is being used. He said to bring the car in on Monday for warranty replacement. On Tuesday at 4 pm my wife received a call from the store manager stating the repair would be $394.00 $50.00 more than the original repair yet the pipe was not supposed to be included. I went and picked up our car and am planning to take it to another shop for the repairs. I have copies of the original receipt and the new estimate if you would like to see them. Working in the service industry myself
I know you will not be happing hearing that I will not only not use this shop for my service but will make it a priority to turn away any customers heading to Monroe. I did reach out to the district manager but still have received no return call.

Truly disappointed,

My daughter brought her car to a Monro…

My daughter brought her car to a Monro shop in the Robinson area. She was told that her entire exhaust system needed to be replaced and even pointed out supposed problems that would require the entire system to be replaced. The cost was $4,000 and they wanted a down payment to order parts. She contacted The Mitsubishi dealership and they also took a look at her vehicle. They told her under no circumstances did she need to replace the entire exhaust and while she waited they made the repair to her muffler Cost? $258 . Not a type O $258 . Think twice maybe 3 times before you let these people work on your car. This is blatant taking advantage of a customer

Monro Shop 565 - Quite pathetic

Shop 565

Total cost of new rear brakes and rotors was 549. The right rear lower caliper bracket bolt was missing. The other bolt was loose.
Monro installed all of my old hardware.
I was missing two shims on the left rear side.
There was plenty on lube on the bolts. No locktite was used.
The rear driver side bolts were loose.
The left rear upper guide pin was dry and no lube was used.
All of the pad shims were not aligned to the pads.

My local mechanic was in disbelief when seeing this.

Stopped by to visit Ray the manager of shop 565. No “I’m sorry”, no responsibility. What a joke…

Scammers

Scammers, previously had brought my spare car here with no issues…… only put 3000 miles a year on it. It has newer parts all the way around including brakes and tires. Inspection was half assed as they only took off the left side tires then dropped the car back down. Was refused inspection without purchasing their trico pro wiper blades even though I just put trico platinums on 3 months prior that have no issues with them whatsoever. DO NOT recommend going to this shop. It’s known that auto shops don’t make money on NYS inspections that’s why they upsell products and today this proved it. Been in the automotive business for 20 years and currently work for the DOT, never been so frustrated with an annual inspection and will not be returning. (West Seneca, NY)

Try to cheat you and when caught do nothing to fix it.

Made an appointment for inspection and oil change. Oil change was fine. Was told the car needed brakes and rotors which was grateful to know. Who wants to drive a car with issues. Thought it was strange since they were replaced about two years ago. Was told the pads were separating from the backing and the rotors were too thin for resurfacing so all had to be replaced. They estimated the cost was around $1500. Could not verify either issue when I replaced the brakes and rotor myself. One of the rear brake pads was a little more worn than the others from a stuck caliper pin but in my opinion everything looked fine. When I took the car back for the sticker and questioned their analysis of my brakes and rotors showing them the parts I took off the car, they admitted their analysis wasn’t correct and told me the person who inspected my car was let go. At first, they said there were no issues with the parts. When asked to return with the parts for measurement they determined one rear brake pad had a crack and would fail inspection. See their measurement record below. I was given the sticker free of charge and told the manager would call me. When the manager called, I was offered three free oil changes. My car takes regular oil so this is about $120 worth of oil changes. I declined the offer and was told someone from Monro corporate would call me. I waited a couple of days before I called the store. They gave me the number of the corporate office. I called and left my number with guest services. Still never received a call. From dealing with this location, I overheard some conversations that it sounded like I was not the only victim of this employee. Wonder how many others experienced fraud from this location?

They really don't mean it when they add the comment to call. I could never get through to anyone, so I tried the AG office. See their response below.
There is no penalty for cheating people especially in a college town. They can just count on new customers. The response from the AG office warned about the mail being confidential, but overall read like this -

To Whom it concerns,
We apologize that Mr. Billett was unsatisfied with the inspection that was performed on his vehicle however we would not be refunding Mr. Billett for the brakes that he purchased and installed on his vehicle himself. There would be nothing we can do here at guest services regarding this matter.

TERIBLE! blackmailing us! they did the inspection on my wife's car. 2016 Hyundai Tucson with 39,000 miles.
They tried to take advantage of her because she does not know about car maintenance!!! Found that front brake pads have to be replaced. We replaced the pads 1 yr ago!!!! anyways or we replace tha pads or no sticker!
so I asked via phone how much for 2 front pads + labor. They offered 3 packages:
Silver at $139, NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND NOT EVEN ON LABOR!!!!
Gold at $199, 1 year warranty
Platinum at $239 life warranty (i bet with a lot of disclaimers.....)
I instructed them to move forward with silver package
2 minutes later the manager called me asking me if i do understand that there is no warranty
I said yes. I confirmed to move forward with Silver
At this point he said that they cannot keep in store the super low quality pads included in the silver (so he is selling poor quality brake pads!!!).
He said they can keep in store only the Platinum package pads. Silver and gold they have to order thus the pads will not be arriving today thus inspection will fail .
Baseically he said that if we do not go to Platinum they have to order the pads and the car will not pass inspection!!! I asked if he was blackmailing us! He said this is what he is instructed to do!... not his decision... he is the manager!
So i said that we have no choice other than to take the platinum because we need the car and we do not want to pay inspection twice!!! he said yes! So I instructed to move forward with platinum informing that we will never ever use their services in the future. I said again this is blackmailing!
After few minutes my wife called me telling that they approached her again and offered to install the gold package ordering the brakes that will be arriving in 30 minutes!!!
Ashamed! will never go there again!

Ripoff - performed unneeded services without permission

I needed brakes - they were grinding, and I just didn't have a chance beforehand, and everyone else locally was booked, so I went to Monro in Johnstown, NY. This was Friday. They were not going to be able to complete the job until Saturday, and I had a wedding to go to, so ok... finish on Saturday. Diagnosis - new pads and rotors. First, I'm sure the old rotors were fine. This is a 2018 Equinox, but fine... replace the rotors along with the pads. So I arrive on Sunday to get the car, and I see a charge of $134.99 for "Brake Fluid Exchange." I am not a mechanic, but there was ZERO REASON to touch the brake fluid. ZERO. I asked the manager about it, and he said, "it will help your system and extend the warranty." I did not approve of this, and it was not necessary. I will ***NEVER*** go to Monro again, and I have filed a complaint with the NYS Attorney General.
